This week's game is "Glyph 2". It's the sequel to Glyph that was offered a while back. I'll get my copy after breakfast.

Sandlot's Free Game of the Week (through Sun 4 April 2010) is:
Glyph 2: I've been hoping they'd do this one. The good news is that my Comodo AV didn't find any problems with any of the files, before or after installation. The bad news is that I can't get the game to play! All I get is a blank screen and a fancy cursor (depending on where the cursor is on the screen). I've had the same problem with another game (Treasure Puzzle from Gametop) since a re-install of XP Pro SP2, which also included the installation of SP3, and yes, I have a message in to Sandlot's Customer Support with all the details. But I was really looking forward to this one, so I reinstalled Glyph, which I never finished, what with all the virus confusion (it'd better be a false positive!)

Thanks, Delilah. I was just taking a peek before breakfast and didn't have time to post the specifics yet. I was just glad to be the FIRST poster about it for a change! LOL

Gee, Dragonlair, I didn't know it was a contest :-)
Maybe that's why I've been "winning" so much: I didn't know it was a game, and I didn't know the clock was ticking. I tend to do better in situations like that, anyway. Must be why I prefer untimed games. LOL.

Thanks for the update, Delilah.

Delilah,
It's just a "game" to me. I use GOTD as a test for the internet each morning. On Mondays, I always check to see what the new Sandlot game is. It's just my morning routine and to be moving faster than you is rare. LOL. I guess I got up a few minutes early today. Actually, I don't mind you being first - you have all the info and links all ready for me. Today I had to go find it myself!
I also prefer untimed games. I like to be able to think and plan my next move.

Looks good, I hope I'll have more luck with this one than with the Glyph 1.

Thanks for posting some screenshots, Graylox
It made me decide to download it after all.Lol.
There's nothing like a good old 3match game,is there..And it runs on Windows 7.

This is a really cool match 3 game. I loved the first one and wasn't disappointed when I bought this last year. Nice pics Graylox.

Thanks Delilah, I'd forgotten about this weeks game. I'll pass on it though as I find a lot of these time management games a little tedious. The Farm Frenzy series is about my favorite of this type of game, and the only one I tend to play. I've changed the heading to reflect the new game.
did anyone have problems running Glyph 2? It froze my computer every time I tried to start it up. :(
Posted 14 years ago # -
I completed Glyph 2 last night (on my 2nd time around). I died the first time with 2 levels to go in the 4th element (Metal). My "monuments" stayed when I started over so I went MUCH faster and had everything maxed out in upgrades before I got back to the point where I had trouble before. I sailed through that and as I continued, build and maxed out as I went along. I had over 6,000 energy units at the end with nothing to spend them on! LOL.
I thought it was a neat game. The "bonus level" was easier than with the original game and the idea of drawing "gestures" is unique! I've not seen that before in any game.

Sheesh, I'd forgotten all about that game...(slight chuckle). I've been sick all week, and doing a craft I hadn't hardly touched in years, that I got motivated to do again, in the last couple of days.

Whiterabbit: Yes, I had problems with Glyph2 also. See last week's post about it here:
http://www.giveawayoftheday.com/forums/topic/6554/page/6#post-74807
I have a response from Sandlot's Customer Support, with a couple of suggestions that I haven't had time to follow up on yet (updates for graphics card driver and Direct-X). She also suggested downloading the game Kuros from their site and seeing if I got the same problem with it, because they both use the same game engine.
I generally avoid Time Management games: too much of that in "real" life! And that includes anything with "Mania" or "Frenzy" in the title.
And Dragonlair, thanks for the review of Glyph2. It might help motivate me to do whatever it is I need to do to get it working!

This game is an extremely good game. I already have it, but it is nice of them to give Cake Mania 2 away for people who don't have it. If I remember correctly Cake Mania 2 has a lot of levels to keep people occupied. A very good game for free or for paid.

Sorry that I deliver the pics so late - I have a busy time, RealLife, you know...
This is not my piece of cake or cup of tea, so I won't grab this.

Sandlot's Free Game of the Week (through Sun 18 April 2010) is Super Granny 3:
http://www.sandlotgames.com/w5/super_granny_3.html
So far, all the Sandlot free games have been from their "Blue Plate Special" section, and there are only about 6 or so that they haven't already given away. I wonder what they'll do when they run out of games in that section...?
Posted 14 years ago # -
Probably repeat like Gamehouse and BFG.
Posted 14 years ago # -
Hmmmm, I think that's the end of my friendship with Sandlot.
You have to download a toolbar now. I could not see how to opt it out.
Good bye, the time was nice...
Here are the pictures:
Posted 14 years ago # -
I didn't have to install a toolbar! I kind of remember an option but it could be unchecked and I had no problem.
Posted 14 years ago # -
Well, you have to download it, at least. You can't opt out that.
I'll put the installer into a sandbox and will see.
Posted 14 years ago # -
I saw something about a toolbar but it had an opt-out. A friend accidentally installed the toolbar to FF and not knowing how to get out of it, she did a system restore. When she got the game again, she managed without the toolbar.
What OS are you running? Both of us have Vista. Maybe the opt-out ability is based on OS.
Posted 14 years ago # -
I get their free games and I don't have the toolbar. I'm also running Vista.
Posted 14 years ago # -
I downloaded the game about an hour after it was offered. No toolbar requirements. I have XP. Can anyone access the Sandlot game download. I checked the site for the last hour and am not able to reach it.
Posted 14 years ago # -
Dolores, the site works fine for me now.
Posted 14 years ago # -
Thanks for checking Dragonlair. Somehow my bookmark link was corrupted. The free game download now has "Includes Sandlot games toolbar" in the free game of the week button. Will have to see if this will prevent opening the game without the toolbar when they offer the next game. In any case, they gave away 22 games without any hassles. These are games that would have cost $4.99 each.
Posted 14 years ago # -
And the winner is... Terri218, who correctly predicted that Sandlot would start repeating the games. Except that they haven't quite run out of Blue Plate Specials yet. I believe there's still Super Granny 4, a couple of Tradewinds, and Westward III that they haven't given away yet. And possibly a Cake Mania?
So, Sandlot's Free Game of the Week (through Sun 25 April 2010) is Snail Mail:
http://www.sandlotgames.com/w5/snail_mail.html
And here's Whiterabbit's post from the last time it was given away (4 months ago):

Thanks as always for the update Delilah, I totally forgot to download last weeks which is a shame becasue my daughter likes the super granny series.
We've had a good run with Sandlot so far, so repeats were to be expected. Gamehouse initially repeated their runs, but stopped after the second round of repeats. Lets hope they continue to give different games away. :)
I'll change the title again. :)
Posted 14 years ago # -
I gratefully accept the honor.

W'rabbit, I forgot all about Super Granny 3 until checking here I saw the thread, and remembered. I took care of that little baby last night (okay, at 'stupid 'clock' this morning...lol), shortly before going to bed. I like the Super Granny games, even though I don't play them often, because I'm too busy with my Match 3's, or chatting on the forums...(chuckle).
