Yes dust is a BIG deal with computers, isn't it?
My tower is sitting on two huge books(at our computer gurus suggestion) rather than on the floor, and the last time he was over, he checked and said that there was no dust in it, and that keeping the tower off the floor helps this!

Hi again, Merri. Yep, that's what/all it was; dust! We hooked up the compressor, and (gently, of course) blew all the dust out of that sucker, and then I hooked it back up, started it up, and now she's a-running fine...:D. I had first suspected mal/adware, but after running software to check, and coming up clean...well that ruled out that stuff. Last night I got to figuring, and also thought it's been a while since we cleaned out the tower, and dust might be the culprit. Oh, btw, just thought I'd mention that the tower has been sitting on the desk, not the floor. It wasn't as dusty as I thought it would be, but was enough to make it act up.
Sue - who at first thought she was going to have to reformat her HD, and is relieved to know she doesn't...(BG)

I've basically given up with gamehouse.I uninstalled the game installer and deleted cookies etc and restarted the computor 5 times and done all the stuff they said to do and they have decided there is something wrong with my computor. I've told them mine is a new computor there is something wrong with there installer otherwise it would be working by now. When I click on a game to install it,it gets as far as the I Agree thing,then when you click on it nothing happens,its as if the button is frozen in space and then I have to have Task Manager stop it as I can't even close it. I even shut the Firewall off,no difference. I have Vista and IE8,this is the only gamesite I have trouble with and it was working great until I went to download the Detective one and as I've missed it and Jumping Jack I'll just wait until gametop or somewhere gets them instead.Thanks for asking tho.

You may be having a registry problem. I had a problem shortly after I upgraded to Vista with some add-ons to the PCStitch software. After working with the developer for several weeks, I uninstalled all the software I had from that company and then went into the registry and cleaned out everything to do with that company that I could find. A re-install of the base software did solve the problem. I was then able to install all the add-ons with no problem. Not all show in the Program & Features (Vista's Add/Remove) but they all work!
If you can find the registry items for the game manager and manually remove them, then the re-install may be possible and may solve your problem.
I'm not guaranteeing anything - just an idea based on a similar experience.

Hi, all - today's offering from GameHouse, Dragon Portals, is a variation on the match-three theme. You are tasked with rescuing dragons by clearing out orbs (I guess I didn't pay enough attention to the story!) There are 5 flying dragons holding lines of orbs and you click on one to drop it down to the dragon below to make a match. You must make sufficient matches to keep the dragons aloft. There are a number of power-ups to be earned with advancing levels. My descriptive powers are poor but if, like me, you like match-3's but are rather bored with the same-old, same-old, I recommend giving this one a try.

I was having a lot of problems with Detective Agency (it kept crashing) and didn't think it was anything special so I deleted it. Now I'm playing Hidden Object Show and today's Masters of Mystery from Gamehouse but I spent most of the last 3 days playing Princess Isabella (I bought it from BFG - well actually used the coupon they gave me because I couldn't play Prism). I finished it a little while ago and really liked it. Masters of Mystery has the smallest hint list I've ever seen. Forget about not being able to see the objects, it would be nice to be able to see the names of what you're looking for.
Tomorrow is a Skip Bo game.

I remember trying that one from Most fun...it was a bit too realistically LIKE a game show for my liking..lol!
The Princess Isabella looks and SOUNDS GREAT!
I THINK I still have a credit, will have to look in my emails and see...lol.

Hi Merri, Skip Bo is a wonderful card game that can be played between 2-6 players. You can also play in pairs and basically have to put down cards in piles starting from an Ace, in turn. If playing with a partner you can use their castoffs sitting on the table (the castoff signals the end of your turn). With this game you go through a 'tournament' against the computer which eventually unlocks other games like Team SkipBo where you and a partner play another pair. I have had this game since Gamehouse first released it and would play it daily.

There's something I don't understand about Skip-Bo. It seems as if it doesn't matter how many cards you place, it only matters who completes the run. If that is true, then whoever gets the most 12's wins automatically and it's all in the luck of the draw. Am I missing something?
(I jusr reread Nola's post and see I missed the part about using the castoffs of the other player. I'll have to try again.)
Tomorrow is Samantha Swift and the Hidden Roses of Athena. I'll finally have another chance to get through that miserable maze.

Terri.....the idea is to be the first to get rid of your face down cards (the pile with 30 cards in it).....can't remember offhand what that pile is called, which is ridiculous cause I've been playing Skip-Bo for years. I feel this PC version is way too easy....I hope it gets more challenging as it goes.

Yeah I finally read the directions correctly. I had been doing it completely wrong since I thought you were supposed to get rid of the cards in your hand so I was avoiding using my stockpile. I'm not too fond of it since I think it is very much "luck of the draw" in terms of the cards you get.

They're being very good to HOG lovers. Samantha Swift today and 3 Day Zoo Mystery (one of my favorites) tomorrow.
One bad thing though, the ads seem to be coming much more frequently on these recent downloads. In The Hidden Object Show I am getting ads almost constantly. You finish the scene - ad, the host congratulates you - ad, you spin the wheel - ad, it tells you which you got - ad, you play - ad. It's so bad I may have to delete the game before finishing it.
Hi all! Just chiming in here ... I noticed the original post for this thread was made 8 months ago: Apparently there was a time when you only had to endure ONE commercial ad in the beginning?? lol
Boy, things sure have changed. Having said that, I still only download Gamehouse games because, compared to some of the other "free with ads" game sites I've found, it's still the least annoying. I like the fact that you can "click it away" after about 10 seconds or so .. not a feature I've found anywhere else. I am also a huge HOG fan and Gamehouse has really been good for that lately!! :-D

With the Samantha Swift game today, did everyone have the "first time initialisation" that took several minutes to complete?
Haven't been aware of that on any previous Gamehouse downloads not even on the earlier Samantha Swift And The Golden Touch, so was this a one-off, just for this game?

Yes i got it also. I'm pretty sure I had it also when I had downloaded it from Shockwave. When the game opened it still had my name and progress. I had to delete my name and start over or else it would have opened up in the middle of that miserable maze.
Is your scanner turning yellow when you get near objects? Mine isn't. I know it did it in the other SS game but I think this is the first one so maybe they didn't do it then. Makes it much harder.

Has anyone had trouble with the Samantha Swift game from yesterday? It played fine yesterday but today it crashes when I try to play it. BTW I didn't get the first time initialization a couple of you mentioned.

Both of the Samantha Swift games had lots of problems. I managed to get almost all the way to the end of the game and got stuck on the door puzzle in Japan and can't move on. Apparently it's a bug in the original game and a patch was sent but this is the older version. I tried to download the demo from BFG to get over that spot but the demo wouldn't play. It's now become a MAJOR challenge to finish this stupid game.
It seems as if Gamehouse is repeating their games. Today is Super Collapse and tomorrow is Blokus World Tour both of which I had previously downloaded.

They do seem to go through a stream of repeats at times... I've played all the ones offered lately, so haven't had any surprises. (and yeah, Terri, that Hidden Object Show host gave me the willies. Lol! Plus, the graphics were not very clear.) But after some ho-hums they usually come out with a good new one, so I keep checking. And you're right, jenany... as soon as that red x box appears, you can click the commercial off, so you only have to endure 10 seconds or so, unlike other sites. So hope everyone is aware of that option! I've given up on iWin, where it's a full 30 seconds, and much too often.

I love when I can keep the game windowed so I can do something useful with the ad time! Unfortunately that doesn't work too well for me with either HOGs or time management games, because I need a bigger window to be able to see what I'm doing well enough to see the objects or react as quickly as needed. Many games don't seen to have re-sizeable windows. It usually works great for match 3's though.
