coral?
Posted 16 years ago # -
maizeydaze, yer amazydaising- its a lump of worn coral.
much easier on sneakers than the fresh stuff.
I think the same lump in wallpaper AR would be good, along with some yellow flowers nobody seems to recognize but are pretty all the same.
sound fair?
Posted 16 years ago # -
goody, that looks to be a large chunk of coral. Did you find it on a beach? Thanks for the flowers! I've never seen them before either.

no, the gent across the street's son brought it back from a posting in Hawaii.
lemme grab the pre-crop image for scale.... looks like just about 3-1/2", longest dimension.
I rather liked how the flowers came out sharp, and the background fuzzes so they stand out.
I'll have to try out some of the other presets, see what effects I can get out of them. Most of the shots today were landscape mode for better depth, but those 2 were macro.
as usual, I left the EXIF info intact. if you're interested, XNView displays that pretty simply. time, date, original name, shutter time, etc.
The manual says the M517 will hold settings for 10 minutes sans batteries, but I've had 'em out for 30 no problem.
I'm thinking of a 90 degree adapter so I can shoot panoramas with the camera on it's side, add about a third to the current 36 degree vertical FOV.

I love it, when the landscape turns yellow.
It has become a very common sight in some parts of the land. In the very mild winter 06/07 some fields were yellow in December; that was rather strange.
OTOH this monoculture is a great hazard for nature, especially when the crops are genetically engineered.Posted 16 years ago # -
err, can you point out to me the features that might help me see if it's plain old rapeseed or CANada Oil[seed] Low Acid?

I've been waiting all day for graylox to post the closeup she was working on that made her too busy to have a bier with me. Now I'm posting one until she is ready.
Here is MD-What Is It? #46. Good luck.

Back side of a frog?
Posted 16 years ago # -
Sorry, maizey, the "theme" I had planned, was not so good as I thought. Now I have to find something else. :(

MD # 46 is a picture from MarsPosted 16 years ago # -
scuba, I thought you disappeared! No, we already did a frog a few days ago and it's nothings back side. Glad to see you back.
graylox, I'm sure you'll find something. Don't be sad. :) Not mars. This is earthly.

Not feeling to good lately, some computer problems, and I'm on a scuba diving forum. With the weather getting better a lot of newbie divers asking many questions.
Posted 16 years ago # -
scuba, I hope you and your pc are feeling better soon. I thought maybe we scared you away. Your once very busy tool thread has gone by the wayside since you've been MIA. Get better and don't be a stranger to us land lubbers!

is it a baked crust or a rock? (and you folks make wisecracks about my shooting up the kitchen!) animal, mineral, edible?
Posted 16 years ago # -
goody, it's not crust or a rock. Animal part.

MD#46......part of an antler?
{{{Scuba}}} good to see you! Hope you're feelin better real soon!
Posted 16 years ago # -
BK, can tell you're a country woman! Yes, it's a whitetail deer antler. A hunter found the antler wrapped up in a large piece of fence. The deer had to have struggled tremendously in order to get the horn wrapped like that.
More pictures of the antler so you can see the amount of fence that was attached.

hrmph. got involved posting in the digitizing slides thread, then got sidetracked sorting images. No worries.
aside from wanting to slap the officious oaf up at the transfer station silly- I really hate jerks that think they can make up 'rules' out of thin air.

Poor deer!!!!!!!!!
Posted 16 years ago # -
What a tangled mess....that deer must have worked for many hours. Cool game! Thanks
Posted 16 years ago # -

Posted 16 years ago # -

Posted 16 years ago # -
your bedroom carpet
Posted 16 years ago # -
G28 - a nylon scrubbing pad?
Posted 16 years ago # -
nope, da carpet is rust-red.
this is smooth and quite flexible, usually seen stretched flat.
Posted 16 years ago # -
Stretched? All that comes to mind now it plastic wrap. I have some in blue. Just looked at it and I see that's not it.
Posted 16 years ago # -
but stretched it is, usually with spray-glue underneath to keep it that way. I expected the color to be a dead giveaway.
Posted 16 years ago # -
Oh, my. I'm only on the second cup of coffee. Color isn't registering. Some kind of filter?
Posted 16 years ago # -
nope. It's a covering, I just happen to have some large scraps that I use for photo backdrops.
