I had so much fun browsing this thread I thought I'd add some from today's great Giveaway. In order of appearance:
Oversharing:
Nice program, played around with it a little, I liked it. I could definatly use this for when my girlfriend gets all her losing weight pics together and make a slide show (she’s lost 200 pounds)….
--------
Seeking decision-making advice:
Ok so im in a dilemma…
I have no use for this program
But the ratings are good..
And ive been on GAOTD for really long
And i MIGHT use this program sometime in the near future… when im feeling creative.. like a 15 percent chance that i might use it in the coming 2 months… and i recently also installed another giveaway ISPRING… to convert from slideshow to flash… which is very goodHelp anyone??
-------------
Seeking usage advice:
What program do you use to play the flash output?
-------------
Seeking legal advice:What is the meaning of
“3) Strictly non-commercial usage” (from readme.txt in zip file)? Is that means that I can not use the program to make slideshows/flash and publish them in my personal web site or in web site for profits (not for sell slideshows)?
What is “commercial usage”?-----------
Seeking omnipotent technical advice:
“Unspecified error”. Does anyone know how to overcome this?
-----------
Thank heaven for those who see clearly:
Yezzzzzzzz, it’s OK, very nice but… (there’s always a but :) )
This version doesn’t allow us to do this… (or I don’t see how…)
http://www.flash-slide-show.com/tutorials/customize-flash-gallery-template.html
Yes, it’s free but not the full version, I see.
Anyway, it’s free.. so let’s not look a horse… blah blah
------------
Seeking an aluminum foil hat:
I seem to have this problem with activation for every giveaway I download from this site. Software usually installs OK but the activation never works. Is this a scam to get the software installed?

omg, busy lady- i am lmao!
that is one very well put together list of stupid comments.
:DPosted 16 years ago # -
The only complaint that I have and ever will have are big games or programs that you take the time to download and fill up your computer and they dont run because of a bad file so you have to hunt it down if I down load it I would like to play it just once like yesterdays game bad file tryed to download three times and didn’t run other than that I give you two thumbs up if you dont like it or its been on before just wait for a new one the next day your not out anything but your time way to go this one looks grate so far way to go ggotd
My God, it's one long sentence. Buy some punctuation, please!

I installed Dogwaffle on Vista Home Premium with no problems at all. As for peope saying you have to “Run as Administrato, I have never had to do that for ANY prgram nstalation. Check your account and verify that’s you are in the Adminstrators group.
----------------------
Never had to "Run as Administrator" - because he runs EVERYTHING as Administrator.Posted 15 years ago # -
Hay Bubby(Com 1)
I see you here every day BAGGING EVERYTHING with Virus total of course you are going to get what you get with using the site as you are using a Trojan to chase Trojans (Bubbys’ surely has shares in it ) I run my net with some serious Military graded anti virus software(Aust.) & for a check I ran your site on it & 2 of six firewalls stopped it & warned that this was a very dangerous site so if you want Trojans use Virustotal for all your Trojan downloads. To GOTD
thanks for all the hard work you peps do & PLEASE make Game Giveaway Of The Day DAILY AgainPLEASE
Thanks for all the work!!!Your Loyal User <name removed in the interests of national security>

I'm not game to say anything. (s)he has some serious 'Military graded' intelligence. I'm also concerned that my site is very dangerous. (I don't have a site - at least not one the army knows about)
Posted 15 years ago # -
Hi, BuBBy, may I ask how profitable those Trojan shares are? In this times one have to look for a good margin. It is only for my ears, will not tell others. ;)
Posted 15 years ago # -
Oh, you pulled that one back out. What a mess! Aust. (Australian?) Military graded anti-virus software. Where can I get me some a dat? LOL
Posted 15 years ago # -
A program for 100$ that dont even can diagnose a compuper that have internet problems?!
Posted 15 years ago # -
I'm still wiping the tears from my eyes. I'll name the shortcut "Super Duper Military Anti-Virus 100 + Firewalls and Scanners Free Version!".
(Oh my my side is killing me rotflmao)
Posted 15 years ago # -
what happens if i just install it w/o running activate.exe?
Well, that would be like buying a car and not putting gas in the gas tank!
Posted 15 years ago # -
I don't want to make it about a particular poster. I'm glad they're anonymous, but I'm going to be a hypocrit (and I'll understand if you pull it). Without naming names, there's one notorius poster that posts candidates for this forum practically everyday, and whose wisdom may be featured on earlier posts in this forum. But, if it hasn't, he needs to take his place in the Hall of Shame. Here's my favorite that someone else posted in another forum:
"You may need to try this or you may not need to try it. Some people have tried it and it works but some never try it and never need to try it so it never works. If you try it and it works then you need it…………."
Shutdown the forums, close down the comments! All life's thorny questions have now been answered!
Thanks, pal for enlightening us. He can post intelligently, but almost everday he posts some variation of this or some other obscure semi-thought from the darkest regions of his head.
I guess, for some, life isnt' too short.

I love this one,
"Whatever you do, DONT install this program in a folder that you then choose to hide."
ROTFLMAO I get this image in my head of a snake trying to eat himself tail first.
Posted 15 years ago # -
I guess today, these two have to go in the waste of space category. I suspect this is as Bubby once pointed out, one of those people who post twice under seperate names because sharing a brilliant opinion once is just never enough.
Great software, could’ve added a few more features. Thanks GOTD.
Great software, I really liked it. To the developer, add more features next time.
Thanks GOTD.Would you care to help the developer out and, say..., specify? Maybe just a little?
Posted 15 years ago # -
Just struck me. Maybe he wants the ultimate feature. Software that makes toast and coffee.
Posted 15 years ago # -
I'll have to list this one under funniest with an explanation after it. Sorry but this was taken from the developers post in todays comments advertising there software. I left the url and email addresses because they were allowed in the comments and its the developer.
"If you have any questions or opinions about our company’s products, you can contact us by MSN: http://www.dvdcopyrip.com@hotmail.com. We will be very appreciated to you!"
ROTFL!!!
I visited there homepage and did find a link for support which uses the companies site name as the host. Here they have a hotmail host (ROTFL). I guess they won't read the comments here and never open the hotmail account and read them either!!!! ROTFLMAOMaybe that account belongs to a former partner that they don't like and will get MILLIONS of email opinions! (I'm wiping the tears from my eyes)

I admit I always like reading this thread.
But I guess there are ways to comment that are not painful to those who wrote it.
There is a thin line between making a funny quote and/or comment or ridicule someone.
And I suppose some of you can't write Chinese either.LOL.
Just a matter of opinion I suppose.Posted 15 years ago # -
My post wasn't meant to ridicule. I thought it was strange to use a hotmail account being in business and having your own site, that's why I investigated it to see if they actually had a support@ email account and in fact they had. Most hosts give you email accounts so it peaked my curiosity and then I came to conclusion (in my own sick but humorous way).
I actually don't see that it ridicules them though. I bet if they came and read it they might even get a chuckle themselves.
I guess I watched and enjoyed George Carlin too much.
Posted 15 years ago # -
I suppose so.
But I see what you mean : George Carlin

"TWO THUMBS UP. IT WAS INSTALLED WELL IN MY COMPUTER. CANT FIGURE OUT WHEN AND WHERE WILL I USE THIS BUT DEFINITELY I NEED IT ONE OF THESE DAYS. GREAT."
This for the Apex VCD converter. Doesn't realize it's an old format - though, there's nothing wrong with that. Doesn't bother to actually look it up, before installing and risking potential computer issues. Must not have Wikipedia under their rock. Others can use it, but when are YOU going to use it? When you step into the time machine, go back to the '90s, and discover VCD? Didn't the BBC and doesn't ABC have a show about this? "Life on Mars"? Sure, they might someday stumble on VCDs they want to convert, but what if they never do? Destiny unfulfilled?
Still, they're certain, and that's my favorite part. They don't know what it is, but KNOW they're going to need it in the future. That's the ultimate. Omniscient stupidity. I don't know why I know, or what I know, BUT I KNOW. Wait a minute! Maybe it's a politician.

Not really stupid, just a chuckler. On the Typing Assistant giveaway:
I think it would be better to take yuping lessons and learn to type well.
Yeah..., you're probably right about that. I think if I was going to make a point about improving your typing, I might edit it a litttttlllle better.
How do you "yup", anyway?
Posted 15 years ago # -
I have 4 baby Schnauzer puppies that are 4 weeks old. I'll loan them to you watcher13 and you'll discover "yuping" real quick!! LOL
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
I enjoyed that comment to!Posted 15 years ago # -
Too funny, Angel! Thanks, but no thanks. Yeah, I've since noticed a few folks over in the comments enjoyed it, too. A Merry Xmas and a Happy New Yup to you!

Funniest in todays comments.
Yes, I had this software on my computer before the hard drive crash and thought it performed extremely well.
(I know he doesn't mean that the software did an extremely well job crashing his hard drive! ROTFL Like copmom said, cops have a sick type of humor.)

I just wonder how many of the GOTD users check this thread to see whether their comments have been found to be funny or stupid by other "expert" users
Posted 15 years ago # -
I just anxiously checked this thread. Thank goodness I did type GOTD instead of GOAT, GOAD, GAOTD or even GOD. Now wait a minute, it is GOTD right ? Awwww hell!
Posted 15 years ago # -
prs said "I just wonder how many of the GOTD users check this thread to see whether their comments have been found to be funny or stupid by other "expert" users "
More than you think prs. And some think there funny too after the fact! LOL I didn't start this thread and I don't think it is meant to be hurtful.
Some in this forum use there PC to get out into the world because of there medical conditions and others are retired so this is there main means of entertainment and communications with others from all over the world. If you'll do a search you'll find them. So to sum it up, this thread is for anyone that finds a comment funny or stupid. Its not an "experts users" thread as you called the posters here. Oh and BTW one of the Admins stated that GOTD was the proper abbreviation. (not that you were inquiring, just being smart)
Posted 15 years ago # -
Hopefully the comments aren't directed at the individual (I try to drop the identity) - the important part is the comment - that it might be humorous or just silly. The comments are usually made without any negative intention and quite innocently.
Trust me, the "expert users" comment couldn't be further from the truth. At times, each of the regulars in this forum are the most stupid people I know (you all know who you are) - and we all wear that badge with honor when the time is right. We all make mistakes, say the wrong thing, delete the only copy of the most important file on a hard drive with a million files to choose from. Doing dumb things can be a training ground for future experts.
We are not perfect. But to our credit - we learn from our mistakes. Sometimes we know how to fix problems because we were stumped by the same problem at some point in the past.
A lot of things I have learned in the past were shortly after breaking something or doing something stupid.
The three most important criteria that contribute to being an expert.
- learning from mistakes (you have to make them at least once - so you know what they look like when someone else does it. Also you sound more convincing when you say, "ahhh yes" and nod slowly.
- reading the instructions (at least check there ARE some instructions - so you have something to read as a last resort, before asking for help).
- know how to google (with any luck - you will end up somewhere unrelated (youtube?) and you will forget about your problems).
.
.
and yes, the abbreviation of "Giveaway Of The Day" is "GOTD" :)Posted 15 years ago #
