I too have noticed that Gamehouse/Real aren't offering the good games that Gamehouse had before...
:(
I wonder WHEN they will bring out an adventure, or HOG game?
Glad that I still have lots to replay!

Let's hope they don't cut too much out of the fun because the competitors will close in.
Sandlot Games just entered the fray with their free game of the week (Westward) and from a cursory look, it seems there are no ads.
Gamehouse needs to maintain a good balance between the quality of their offerings, the amount and duration of ads and the variety of games to continue to succeed.

Today's game, Mystery of the Crystal Portal, is a repeat and was offered by BFG for $2.99 a few days ago. I downloaded it again because I couldn't remember it (which means I probably didn't like it too much but hey you can't beat the price).

I tried Mystery of the Crystal Portal as a freebie from Gamehouse today, too, but got ads at EVERY level, and a couple of times when I was just switching screens. And these were talking ads, which I find particularly annoying. I like the game, but won't play it under these conditions. Probably won't try any more freebies from Gamehouse, either, unless I know they've cleaned up their act.
Yeah, what Dragon said!

I was wrong. BFG wasn't $2.99 , it was full price and is still available. I'd rather put up with a few ads than pay full price.

That's true. They can be a huge pain. That's why Game GOTD is way better. Still, I worry that someday, GOTD will not be able to stand up to it.Posted 15 years ago # -
The latest offer from Gamehouse is a Cate West game!!!
HOORAY, a HOG/adventure game!
I really liked the first one so am hoping that this one is as good if not better..

What's interesting is that the ads are coming on more frequently but for the last month or so, the ads are ONLY for the Gamehouse Funpass. They seem to have no actual ad revenue.
Posted 15 years ago # -
Lol, no I noticed that before. I think they should get rid of the ads and make it so that only paying gamehouse customers could download the free game of day. I really haven't been interested in anything they have been giving a way lately though.

Hmm...I downloaded Cate West and got Tampax Pearl ads. I guess they know their demographics.

Bite your tongue Michelle.

EEK Michelle!!!
Bite your tongue indeed! Many cannot afford even 6.99 for games so the freee games are wonderful!
(Hear that Gamehouse? Many, many thanks for offering the daily free games!

Interesting - today's game, Pakoomba, was BFG's Daily Game several days ago. This is the second time that happened in the past week. Coincidence or intentional?

Today's free game(Thomas and the Magical words) is a very fun game, specifically for those who like word games.
It would be good for kids but adults too as you can have some very challenging letters, and the longer the word the higher the points...Posted 15 years ago # -
Yes, Merri it is also good for testing out games. Games that you may want in the future, but do not know if you would be interested in that particular game. I have a couple ad versions of gamehouse games downloaded (though I have to admit I don't play them much), but I believe it is worth it. You only see the ads when you are playing the game and I hope everyone who can't afford a game can afford one, one day. Then you can even get a game you want. It works out good if you are a little kid or a teenager who doesn't have a credit card.
My best purchase wasn't a gamehouse purchase http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001Q24UAM/ref=ox_ya_oh_product (it was that). That comes with over twenty games all for one low price. It is something to look into. If only we could buy all games like that.
Gamehouse just got Farm Frenzy 3 in (it is about time right). I bought it. It was like $7.41 (with tax). I haven't played it yet. I am playing Farm Frenzy 2 in the collection which by the way is a great collection of games. Each of those games are like $6.99 on other game sites, but if you buy this you only pay like 17 something and I included shipping in that.
I never really thought I would like Farm Frenzy (it's a good game). I never would have got it if I didn't get the game collection from amazon.

MICHELLE:
I don't quite understand how this works
"http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001Q24UAM/ref=ox_ya_oh_product (it was that). That comes with over twenty games all for one low price."
Do you get individual activation codes so you can download them one at a time or do you have do them all at once? Or is it actual discs that they send to you?
It's a great deal but I don't want all of them and would like to be able to download and play one game at a time. I had a problem with both of the Natalie Brooks games when GH offered them. The cursor was all over the place.
Posted 15 years ago # -
Terri, no activation is needed. The game install files are on the 2 CDs you receive, so no downloading is necessary, either. The installer asks which game you want to install, so you can do it one at a time. The only thing I found a little annoying was that the first time you run the installer, it asks where you bought the package. [I'm always tempted to make something up when confronted by marketing questions I can't avoid (if I want to use the product)!]
But I agree, it is a good deal. I got mine from a Marketplace seller (click on "xx Used & New" to find them), and got mine brand-new, cheaper, and with faster delivery.
Posted 15 years ago # -
No, you don't need any. When you get your copy from amazon all you do is install and yes you do have to install all the games individually but they are all full versions.
Posted 15 years ago # -
When you add the shipping I'm not sure it's worth it.
Posted 15 years ago # -
that's what I thought too...
and for Canada,I would have to add the exchange so it becomes quite costly.
Oh well!
:)Posted 15 years ago # -
I added shipping to it it's 17 something (I included shipping it that). Over 20 full version games for one low price. I think it is worth it.
Oh my god I got my two funtickets already from gamehouse. Last month it took six days to go through where this month it only took 1 day.
Posted 15 years ago # -
If you spend $25 or more from products shipped from Amazon (from any department), standard shipping is free (at least in the US).
Posted 15 years ago # -
I JUST ordered the amazon game package!
After thinking about it last night I agree that it IS an amazing deal, even for Canadians(as the exchange rate is quite high these days so I am only paying 2 dollars more!)
The grand total was 22.95 (that was including shipping); for 25 games that is pretty good.
(So I didn't get the free shipping..that's ok though.)
I like that the games are permanent on the disks and that it is compatable for xp or vista.Posted 15 years ago # -
Hmm the price just went up one dollar!
Hope that anyone who wants this deal acts fast as they probably are going to raise it again...
:)Posted 15 years ago # -
Great that amazon deal is worth every penny, especially if you don't own many of the games. I only owned two from Real. Beach Party Craze and Stand O' Food, but even with those two games it still made it worth it. I got into HOG games because of that amazon two disks of games. I bought Farm Frenzy 3 off Gamehouse because of it also. I never bought a Farm Franzy game before that and I never would have because to me it looked stupid till I actually played Farm Frenzy 2.
Posted 15 years ago # -
huh, so happy to get it. I like this forum, it always gives all kinds of good stuff.

Avira has been giving me a virus warning on Gamehouse for the past two days. I've never gotten it before. Is anyone else getting this?
Posted 15 years ago # -
Yes, my Avira Anti-Vir Personal is also doing this now!!!
I just hit 'deny access', and it continues on!
So, I figured what ever is there, I didn't need to access it to get the games!? ;o)-MM
Posted 15 years ago # -
I do the same thing MagicMan and for Mortimer Beckett (today's free game) it's worth the risk.

I scanned my MB download file with AVG, Malwarbytes, and spybot and got a clean report from each; plus seven browser defense services (including WOT, Norton, and SiteAdvisor) gave the download page a green light, so I installed it. :p
