Glad that you figured it out!
I have gotten some nice ones lately...what have you gotten?
I am deliberating about today's which is a word game of which I have dozens(including scrabble)
It sounds very frenetic though, and I dislike that(although surprisingly am ok with a timer in hidden object games!..lol)

Hi All, I'm new to posting in the forums but have been a GAOTD & GGAOTD user for months now. Anyway the EULA for Gamehouse contains the DRM paragraphs that Notblocklox wrote about on page 1. I'd like to hear back from some of you to see if your PC has been invaded by automatic updates by Gamehouse or if you've had any other problems with them. The free game today is Super Collapse 3 but I am very wary of their EULA DRM terms.
Thanks,

Hi, sadie1lady... welcome to posting with this great group here. I personally download every game Gamehouse offers with ads that I haven't already played and have never noticed any problems whatsoever. I routinely do virus and adware checks and have seen nothing from Gamehouse. And boy, they do offer some great games (a lot of new releases) and the ads don't bother me a bit. So it's truly up to you! Some may offer different advice, but that's mine for what it's worth. */:-)

I downloaded Super Collapse 2, but I cannot install it or any game from Gamehouse. It will not let me type in or browse for the folder to install the game too. Does anyone else have this problem? I can check or uncheck the two options but that's how far I get.
Thank You

Midori is right, there appears to be nothing wrong with Gamehouse games. I'm not particularily into advert supported games, but I have been downloading them to see if I want to buy them later. I use them as an extended demo. If I don't play them much over the next few months they will be scrapped; if I do I'll probably buy them anyway.
Gamehouse have been around for quite some time and develop their own games as well as sell those developed by others.
My AV program (Avira) hasn't picked up anything untowards from these guys.

Merri, I don't recall them right now, but have gotten quite a few of them...most of them, for that matter. There is at least one that I tried and immediately deleted because something wasn't working right between the game and my mouse - it was the Monkey game, where you use your mouse to make the monkey swing from tree to tree. I couldn't get the hang of it and thusly had the monkey falling all the time. I really didn't think I would care for that game, anyway, but had just decided to check it out, anyway.

Hi All, thank you for the replies. I did go ahead & download super collapse 3 yesterday & I am hooked - lol. I'm stuck on level 87 of the puzzles.
Midori, I too have the virus protections, firewalls and Advanced System Care which is way cool. So I'm pretty sure all is good.
Thanks again guys & happy playing.

I agree with Whiterabbit. I have been downloading gamehouse games that interest me with the ads for a couple days and norton and adaware haven't detected anything in them. I would love to buy all these games, but unfortunately I just don't have the money (not anywhere near). So what I will do is probably get something I don't think will be on there with my gamepass credit and I have bought a couple other games from Real, but right now I am not going to be able to get anything extra other than gamepass. :(
The good thing about the gamehouse games with advertisements is that you don't need to be connected to the internet to play the games. It's a very nice thing for Realnetworks to do, I heard that is really who gamehouse is, maybe just a rumor, but I don't think it is.

I an still having trouble with the game installer. It still will not let me select or type in the folder to install the game to. I am running Windows XP if that helps.
Thanks.

Chelle . . . we've certainly had zero luck playing any ad-supported Gamehouse game without being either connected to the net, or constantly fighting my dialer software, which seems activated every time the ad should be playing. Sucks, really.

Is anyone having the same problem i am with these games fom Gamehouse? Every one that i've downloaded (7 out of 7 so far!) have all said "Files corrupted" when i try to open them! Thanks for any advice you can give me!

I found my problem, Gamehouse Was showing up in Internet Explorer as A restricted site. I removed it from the restricted zone list and now the game installer works.

Today's gamehouse free game is really good for those who don't have it. It's called Burger Shop. http://www.gamehouse.com/download-games/burger-shop I have it I got it from Realarcade with a credit a few months ago and I like the game a lot.

I agree, Michelle... it's a good one. I have it from RA also, back when I was still buying from them. But I still play it... it's a keeper.

Thanks dsekirka, for mentioning about it being a restricted site in Internet Explorer...that was exactly what was causing my problem, even when I tried using FireFox!
Yea! Free games for me!Posted 15 years ago # -
Sue, I saw that I didn't reply to your last comment to me...sorry!
Yes there have been a lot of good ones!
Surprising how many have been quite new releases too!
I love adventure games and the Nancy drew ones have been great but I am STUCK in the dossier one..cannot click fast enough to get through a level..lol!
I am also playing the free Polly Pride one and enjoying it a lot.Posted 15 years ago # -
I'm getting very variable results with the ads. One game (can't remember which one), only played the advert at the start up, then you were able to play through without any disturbances. However others seem to play virtually every level. I tried the tower defence game Monster Mash and had three seperate adverts before I'd even started the game, then got regular adverts throughout the time I played it. Also the advert length seems to vary as well. A lot of the games I originally downloaded lasted for exctly 19 seconds; now the time seems to be increasing? I won't be keeping most of the advert supported games though because I find them annoying. It's stupid really - I just like free standing games. When I buy them I'm even more of a fussy g*t as I feel that I should own something that doesn't have to be connected to the internet before you can play it; though I'm finding it increasingly difficult to avoid that due to the DRM that many games now have.

I'm seeing a lot more adds too White in games and sometimes it gets really annoying, but for the price I think it is worth to keep. I don't play advert games all the time, I don't download all the gamehouse games that they offer everyday and I only play the advert games sometimes because I have full version games and I guess I would rather play the full realarcade version games rather than a full version games that an add comes up every 3 minutes or so. I have had that happen in Chuzzle Deluxe and it gets annoying.
I really like the new Bejewled, Bejewled Twist. I play that a lot. I think it is much better than the others. When you get the hang of it then it becomes really addicting. Here is a screenshot from one of my games. http://img16.imageshack.us/my.php?image=bejewledtwistrw5.jpg

I'm getting ads during the game plays, now. I was playing Escape the Museum last night (okay...early yesterday morning...lol), and when I'd finally found and clicked onto the last item, before I could see it, the ad box immediately came up. That game, btw, is very challenging for me. It is very difficult to find a lot of the items without having to hit the Hint button.
Sue
Posted 15 years ago # -
I also find that I use the Hint button far too much, but, when it then shows the item that should have been found, I usually think "Is that really supposed to be a ?????" (fill in the blanks).
Posted 15 years ago # -
So true! We were talking about this in another thread... imo, this is quite poorly drawn and unclear for Hidden Object standards. Hey, we're spoiled with MCF-type graphics. Spintop's are great also. The lighting is bad, so it's hard to even adjust your monitor for help. And right on, Spodo... when you give in for a hint and take a click, you think: "Replay! What in the heck did I just click on!?" Definitely not my favorite HO game. K:-b
Posted 15 years ago # -
Spodo, I find that the Hint button only gets me a red circle with an x in it, that shows the area/spot the item is in, but doesn't show me the actual item. When I find the last item (if using the Hint button), before I get to see what the item looks like, the GameHouse ad box immediately pops up, obscuring my view. Spintop's, Midori? What's that?
Sue
Posted 15 years ago # -
Sorry. RosnSC you're absolutely right, I was just a bit sloppy with what I said. The hint does only show where an object is located and it's still necessary to click on the object itself.
Still doesn't change the fact that quite often they show little semblance to what they're supposed to be.
BUT it's only a minor gripe because, after all, it is a free game, for which I'm grateful.
Posted 15 years ago # -
So true, Spodo... so we're really "comparing," not complaining. ;)
Hi, Sue... Spintop is another game developer that puts out a lot of Hidden Object games... I think the Little Shop series as well as other detective-types. Very good graphics.Posted 15 years ago # -
Hi I am a relative newbie to GGOTD,(2yrs).I have a problem with gamehouse. It is restricted and no matter what I do It stays that way,is there anyone who can help me.
Please and thank you.Posted 15 years ago # -
Hi everyone. I was just wondering if anyone other than me is having a problem with trying to download the free games of the day from gamehouse. I keep getting the message "A critical error has occurred which prevents installation. The problem has been reported to RealNetworks. Please try again." This has just started a couple of day ago when i tried to download Jetsetters. I am running WinXP home. By the way you all are doing a fine job on here and you have helped me keep my sanity or whats left of it. This is the first thing i read before going to my email. Thanks alot.

Hi Sassy - Perhaps your Gamehouse game downloader has become damaged. Go to add/remove programs and delete the Gamehouse file then try your download again. This should install a new version of the downloader and hopefully solve your problem.
Posted 15 years ago # -
Thanks Pavid that advice was great it is now working. i'm upset i missed a couple of good games, but they will be back on again so i won't cry about it. I can only say thanks again for this site and make sure i write down how the problem was solved for the next time it happens (and i am sure it probably will, if not to me but maybe for someone else.)again thank you.

Recently noticed if tried around noon (vs morning) the startin download...
thing just sits there and times out, like they run out of bandwidth maybe
later in the day when many get free game.Posted 15 years ago # -
Thank you to delenn13 & notblocklox...I got the software you mentioned above and it's amazing the info I'm getting from it :/ To be honest, I have 2 (or 3) games from Realplayer (had to do a trial so i could get my writing software lol...I'm a BFG girl)...but anyways I got games that aren't at BFG yet.
And I think I Might have to uninstall em >.< Even the 'full, clean, bought' versions have the scary drm's (and boy they really sort of spell out the word 'DANGER'...but I never read EULAs either..more of a yeah yeah here's my first born (lol that was my mental joke sometimes lol). But this wasn't funny, this was incrediably scary. Not only do I have a new computer, and I'm still keeping my old (now my fiance's) comp alive. Limited income here..can't afford to have things mess up. So honestly, I thank you very much, from the bottom of my heart. I made a 'forum' account just to write that lol.
But I do lurk, and find out about the game links :D But from now on I'm sure scanning every EULA/License I come across ^^.
And to the rest, I'm Vista 32, and never have a problem with downloads, could it be your drivers?
