Im guessing they havnt switched to weekends, its that they can’t find and distributors for GGOTD, or that they are working on alot with GAOTD, i mean they had some 100$ product, than evernote beta. Well right now i think they just fused it all, on GAOTD today (22nd), they gave two downloads, one a screensaver, and one a game. So they might be having some problems with this site.
-
I have had to stop downloading programs from this website due to allot of crap left running in the back ground after uninstalling some of these programs offered here, I have had to reformat my system 3 times in the last 8 months of testing, tired of reformatting my system, who knows what these foreigners are really doing to our computers, cyber wars suck
-
To all those saying that Audacity does this for free: this program is FREE for today too. So that is not a valid argument. It’s nice to let others know of alternatives, but the “this program costs too much” or whatever argument doesn’t work because THE PROGRAM IS FREE FOR TODAY.” Sorry, had to get that out.
I won't do any more commentary on this kind of drivel - stupidity should speak for itself.

actually, I wish Stupidity would sit down and shut up- but I ain't holding my breath.

I enjoyed the Cyber war theory...

I’m a little disappointed that the GAOTD is the $33 1-yr licence rather than the $99 for-life license (which in practise would probably be 2-4 yrs max until we change computers again) - its not as if it would cost them more…
Further proof that some people will complain that despite receiving something for free - it is never good enough. If a program cost $100, but had a $300 version also - they would be upset that GOTD was being "cheap" by not giving away the $300 version.
"It's not as if it would cost them more..."
I should send this genius shopping for me one day - I'd love more discounts like these!

To BuBBY: regard to two posts from the same person using different names (mentioned by you in page 3 of this thread) How can you be sure? Is it possible to actually know who is mailing you ? (I am no computer expert !)
Posted 16 years ago # -
Bubby.....I just gotta ask this...
Back on page 3 of this thread, the long post Lockett did where the woman was lashing out at Whiterabbit....her last line was,"It’s these as well as other inconsistencies that I find as being very suspicious and something that will be brought to the attention of the appropriate authorities."
Well.....the GOTD Team would be the "appropriate authorities" right? Did she ever "report" that horrible, nasty, Whiterabbit who was taking up so much of her valuable time? .........Just curious.
Posted 16 years ago # -
@absminprof - Well for starters - the email address you provide when commenting can help us verify you are you if for example someone started posting using your name - the only people who can see the provided email address is the site admins/moderators. In the case I mentioned the original poster, and his new best friend both posted and provided the same email address? coincidence?
When on the Internet, everyone has an Address. (The paranoia freaks are going to explode at this). http://www.geobytes.com/IpLocator.htm
The poster and his new best friend - both had the same IP Address.
That's the idea behind how you visit shopping sites - and the default currency is in your local currency, or you try to watch a TV show on a US website - and it won't load because you live in another country.
While it is difficult to verify, but I am almost 100% certain - the poster, and his new best friend were also wearing the same pair of underpants. And THAT has to be a CRIME!!
---
@Buckleysmom - If she did report it to the "appropriate authorities", I'm sure it received the appropriate attention and response. The guys in the GOTD Team can see these things for what they are.
But I believe that on allegations of plagarism of almost entire paragraphs of video game reviews the more appropriate authorities would have to have connections within The United Nations Security Council. This even has the grubby fingerprints of GW all over it - with a coverup by the CIA - doing what it can so the truth would never see the light of these forums - I'm sure it goes all the way to the top. The CIA tried to get into the server to remove the posts - but unfortunately their first test post - was a spam posting advertising some DVD to iPod converter, and I banned them - thus ruining everything. Even the CIA doesn't get to... ummm... hijack a topic.
If you need to discuss this further - this forum is being watched. Be at the fountain out the front of the library tomorrow at lunch. Someone will contact you there. Come alone.

I do have a question Grand Poobah, an important one.
The fountain u are referring to for the Rendez-vous, is that the sorry excuse of a fountain we keep hearing about? That one is sooo tiny, some of us could go by and totally miss it. I'm just saying... bc I care! ;)
You are too funny!! :)

I love this comment :
To Giveaway team.
Could you, please warn each time if the software is for intermediate or advanced users, for beginners, or for dummies, like me. So we won’t waste our and the other’s time on tries and stupid comments.Thank you anyway for your great job ...
Did you find this comment useful? YES ;-) | noPosted 16 years ago # -
Bubby......maybe that's why we haven't heard from Whiterabbit in a few days....."They" got him. Onless he's out there waiting by the fountain....in hiding.

Pointless! As there are several free programs of this type that are equal or better. A less experienced computer user would get lost is a file manager. H***! They are confusing to me and I’ve been around computers for 12 years. Guess I’m getting old!

Without a comment :
I still get e-mails from GAOTD so every once in awhile I check to see the offerings. But I read the comments and still stay away. I am mainly suspicious of where all these programs are coming from.
So far just about every GAOTD offering are from developers in China and former Eastern Bloc countries.
I dunno, but maybe no one minds. Maybe this is an “international site” where members are also in Europe or Asia, so it’s not a big deal that the software if coming from questionable sources.

No offense to anyone, but the only time I have been burned with ID theft and credit card ripoffs is when I bought from Chinese or “Eastern Bloc” vendors.
So no more for me.
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxOK, I guess it’s my mistake. GAOTD is a foreign run operation. I did not know that. Guess that explains the varied locations of all the posters in here.
I apologize, did not mean to insult anyone. But this will be my last post and visit. Good luck and have fun.

Not really a secret is it.
And.. it almost looks like paradise when I look at the Virgin Islands.
Still I would prefer Australia.:)’xcuse me

It's comments like that - that only goes to prove even these "international sites" on the internet allow some people to post and demonstrate how ignorant they are.
(and Graylox, of course you would prefer Australia.... who wouldn't??)
Posted 16 years ago # -
Actually it is Robert's comment, but I agree wholeheartedly :-)))

aman i wish this was not 300+mb and you did not need a internet connection . dial-up sucks i wish this game was like 100mb and no internet connection required
April 5, 2008 9:40amGee, I wonder how a download from the internet would work without an internet connection?
Posted 16 years ago # -
The game does not officially support Vista because we hate it, but it runs fine as long as you have enough RAM

"Hey I tried the “C:\Documents and Settings\ComputerUserName\Local Settings\Temp\Temporary Directory 1 for RESTrickControlPanel(1).zip\rest-lc.key” but there is one small problem, the file “ComputerUsername” does not exist. Am I missing something here? I really want this program but I can’t figure out how to register."
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx"And do you often get stuck looking for the “Any” key on your keyboard too?"
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxToday we could put nearly the complete page into this thread.

I'm stuck at step 1 - I have a downloaded a zip file, should I rename that to "Setup.exe"? :P

"I installed and didn’t open the read me file, so don’t have the reg key. How do I retrieve it?"
?_?
Posted 16 years ago # -
"Download went well and quickly. Install, well, disturbingly slow, part of the section two update failed, installed to system tray which I don’t prefer, no desktop icon. I didn’t realize the registration key # was in the read me file - that’s not usual for GOTDs (and i don’t always read the read mes). Update feature ran well, odd considering it updated during the install. It did recognize that I have McAfee (free from Comcast), AVG Free and Avira Antivir but made accomodations and didn’t require any uninstalling. Yes, I use multiple anti virus and anti spyware programs in case one catches something another misses. It’s late for me and I don’t have time for a full scan, but I’m doing the Quick SCan and it doesn’t seem to be interfering with my other activities and - oh, it’s done already. And it found something. Nice. With multiple free options out there, I’m not likely to pay to keep this past the trial period, but I may keep it for the six months."
