Thanks, StevieD!
We had this game as Gamegiveawayoftheday not too long ago.

greenTech+ has been redesigned to be a more action-oriented game, putting players in charge of a hurricane that can steer polluted winds into cleansing factories. But be careful, because if that cloud hits a high pressure zone, it gets dispersed into the atmosphere, causing global warming to go up. Once global warming reaches 100%, it’s game over...

Max & the Magic Marker
.
.
The Game
Max & the Magic Marker is a physics based 2D puzzle platformer, in which the player controls the boy Max and his Magic Marker. While Max enables good old platforming fun, the marker provides the game’s signature feature: the ability for the player to draw directly inside the game world where everything drawn becomes physical objects. This feature is used to complete levels and overcome challenges but it also provides the player with a unique tool that in itself is fun to play around with.
.
.
The StoryMax is a young boy, and like most boys he loves to draw. One day he gets a mysterious marker in the mail. There is no letter attached – only the plain orange marker. Max decides to test it right away, sits down and starts drawing. He draws a monster but as soon as he finishes the lines on the paper start moving and to Max’s great surprise the monster runs off the paper and into another drawing. Stunned Max now sees how the Monster messes around with his drawings. Max realizes that he has to stop the monster. So he draws himself on the same drawing that the monster is in and immediately finds himself inside the drawing. The game begins.
The Features
15 inventive and puzzling levels
Unique drawing control in a truly dynamic physics environment
3 beautiful worlds inspired by childrens drawings
Death traps, monsters, and challenging puzzles
Unlockable challenges, secrets and rewards
Original and awesome soundtrack by Analogik.

...Fractal, an enthralling music puzzler experience. Push, Combo, and Chain your way through a pulsing technicolor dreamscape all the while expanding your consciousness at 130 BPM.
3 sexy game modes
CAMPAIGN MODE
Campaign Mode takes you through the world of discovery. Each level offers new possibilities of play, while continually expanding on challenges. This is NOT a “more of the same game” scenario; we spent a lot of time crafting a lush campaign that expands, bends, twists, and creates new elements of gameplay that will completely alter the way you view the game. Throw in checkpoints at every ten levels and you have one beautiful experience.
PUZZLE MODE
Sometimes, it’s just nice to have a controlled environment. Puzzle Mode exposes the underlying mechanics of the game, then pushes them to the limit. Test your mettle against 50+ intense scenarios that will hone your skills enough to see you through Campaign mode, right before they set your brain on fire.
ARCADE MODE
If the other modes strike you as too contemplative, Arcade Mode might be more your speed. It’s a good thing the pushes are unlimited, because time is tight and you’ll need to step lively if you want to see the other side of a minute.

Wow, they slipped that one in under the wire didn't they? No announcement or anything.
Posted 13 years ago # -
Yeah; though I just got my email about 30 minutes ago. Was going to post details, but looks like Bently got there before me. :)
These are great games. There's a lot of fun to be had with the and tongue in cheek shooters Serious Sam: The first and Second Encounters. I just wish we'd see Serious Sam 2 as well, which seems to have disappeared from sight. I got a copy from Direct 2 Drive about 5 years ago, but wasn't able to download it before they switched over last week as the download link was dead.
If you like the First and Second encounters you'll love the latest game called Serious Sam 3: BFE. It has similar Gameplay, but with seriously good graphics. :)
I'n not sure whether the fist and Second encounters are the originals or the HD versions. If they are the latter you get a fantastic bundle. Serious Sam double d is also a decent game, but as for the rest, they feel more like freeware games. Still, you don't have to pay a lot for these games.
When you purchase the Serious Sam bundle from Steam you tend to get the originals for free.
I decided to purchase it despite already having most already (i've purchased the First & Second Encounters at least 5 times over the years since first getting them when they were released 10 years ago. If the games are the non HD versions they are still excellent games despite the graphics being 10 years old. At the time they were cutting edge. I remember being gob-smacked by how good they looked. :)
Posted 13 years ago # -
Well, I wouldn't call those details... just a summary.
According to the info on the First and Second Encounters: "[NOTE: Indie Royale's Serious Sam Lightning pack also includes The Second Encounter. Both versions are the original releases, rather than the HD remakes.]"
I think the offer has something to do with the fact that SS3 has just been released :)
I've played the demo and it reminds me of Doom with a sense of humor, but I was never that fond of Doom, and prefered some of the clones, such as Rise of the Triad (Ludicrous gibs!) and later Duke Nukem 3D, System Shock, Deus Ex, and my favourite: the Thief series.

This is the text of the Newsletter:
You might not have been expecting us back just yet, but surprise - we're launching a new series of 'lightning packs' - more focused, 'niche' collections of PC games with a shorter time-limit to buy.
The first surprise pack, the Serious Sam Lightning Pack, is available to buy immediately at IndieRoyale.com, with a starting price of $2.99 and a total of six Serious Sam-themed games, including four new indie-developed games riffing on Croteam's gonzo FPS franchise, plus the two original games in the series.
.
.Serious Sam's recent indie spinoffs were commissioned by rogue micropublisher Devolver Digital and franchise creator Croteam (still an independent developer themselves!) around the launch of Serious Sam 3: BFE, but gained some notoriety thanks to their entertaining spinoffs of the shooter franchise.
Of the previously available titles in the bundle, Serious Sam: The Random Encounter -- available on PC as a DRM-free download, on Steam, and on Desura -- is a refreshing take on the RPG genre, developed by acclaimed indie developer Vlambeer (Super Crate Box, Ridiculous Fishing). Its gameplay is a clever pixelated hybrid of turn-based battles with real-time, run and gun offense and defense maneuvering.
Also part of the pack, Serious Sam Double D is available on PC as a DRM-free download, on Steam, and on Desura, is a hand drawn, side-scrolling shooter featuring over-the-top gameplay and chaotic action from arcade-loving indie Mommy's Best Games (Weapon Of Choice, Explosionade).
Next, making an exclusive debut on PC in this Lightning Pack is a DRM-free download and Desura PC version of Serious Sam: Kamikaze Attack. Developer Be-Rad Entertainment's offering (originally available exclusively on smartphones) is a Canabalt-style action-platformer where players control the Headless Kamikaze enemy, striving to accomplish the bad guy's dream of blowing up the vile Serious Sam on every level.
And as a special bonus, Croteam, the indie team who originated the Serious Sam franchise, offers the original Serious Sam: The First Encounter and Serious Sam: The Second Encounter games for PC, redeemable on Steam. These two original titles are packed with the arcade-action style first-person shooting that the Serious Sam series is known for, including gonzo single- and multi-player modes.
Finally, we've decided to unleash our special bonus up front, as a world exclusive Indie Royale debut. Serious Sam: The Greek Encounter is an 8-bit, top-down "demake" of Serious Sam, specially commissioned by Team Fortress Arcade and Halo/DJ Hero demake author Eric Ruth. It's available for PC as a DRM-free download and on Desura, and sees Serious Sam in ancient Greece battling the relentless hordes of Mental's army in an all-new retro 8-bit adventure.
This new Lightning Pack will run for just 100 hours, under the same pricing model as before: the price will automatically increase as more people buy the pack. Those generous buyers who pay more than the current minimum can decrease the price for other purchasers.
Going forward, we're planning to stick to one 'big' monthly bundle (the next being the Valentine's bundle, opening pre-orders in early February!), and keeping everyone interested with more lightning packs and our Alphas offering - finally coming in mid-February.
You can keep up with what's going on with us in real-time on our Facebook and Twitter pages, and once again, please contact us if you have an questions or suggestions about anything to do with Indie Royale.
Thanks,
Scott, John, Bethany and Simon

I'd consider getting the latest when it's on sale Bently. IMO it's much better than the latest Duke Nukem game, which i found rather tasteless when you have to pick a solid thing out of the toilet you've just been to. Weird beginning for a game. Whereas Serious Sam puts you straight into familiar action, but with much better models and environments.
Posted 12 years ago # -
Yeah, the most recent Duke is a bit over the top. I played the instant demo through OnLive and that was plenty for me.(GreenManGaming has this too, great for games you're on the fence about)
Though, having played Postal 2, I have seen worse. (I'll be giving Postal 3 a wide berth.)
I have to be in the right mood to play a run-and-gun type of game, and Serious Sam seems to be just that: a prettier Doom clone. It just doesn't really interest me, and I already have the Doom and Quake packs for when I feel like mindlessly blowing things up.
It's summed up quite well on steam:
Serious Sam 3: BFE is a glorious throwback to the golden age of first-person shooters where men were men, cover was for amateurs and pulling the trigger made things go boom.

The latest Indie Royale bundle is now available and this one is a little different. They call it Alpha Collection #1 and it is a bundle of three games that are currently in alpha state. Purchase gets you regular updates and the final game. The developers estimate that they are 40% to 75% complete (varies by game). The games are: Towns (said to be influenced by Dungeon Keeper, Dwarf Fortress, and Majesty), 3079 (like Fallout and Minecraft) and Wyv and Keep (a more fiendish version of The Lost Vikings. There are videos for all of them and demos are available for the first two.
I have to say that these all look interesting to me. The current minimum is $5 and the recommended amount is $10. It is available for the next week.
Posted 12 years ago # -
Thanks Campy, been keeping my eye on this release as I knew we'd be getting something I've definitely not got (re the alpha title). I think it was the very first humble bundle that also contained two alpha releases. That tower Defense game which was later released on steam .
I've just consolidated all of my bundles together after seaching through my emails. I was getting lost with all the different ones being released. At least with the Indie Royale bundles you know approximately when they are due. Most of the previous bundles i have still haven't been redeemed via their Steam keys so have created a document with them all listed. Gonna give most of them to my children, the ones i deem innapropriate i'll probably just lose in cyber space or redeem them over my present keys.
I was doing a search the other day to find out if there were any I was missing (that is from searching through my emails seeing as my memory is rubbish and I'd forgotten that Delenn and Graylox have been keeping a list in these forums and came across a couple of Russian sites that seem to have set up in buisness selling steam keys from these humble bundles. It looks like they've purchase a whole shed load of bundles from each one (probably for the lowest you could pay) and are now selling them off at a profit. Swindlers.
I'm really surprised at how many games have been sold with Steam keys. I came across a Steam account called something like indie bundlres that has virtually just games bought through these bundles and there were over 100 games in the account.
I made a bit of a boob the other day while looking through the Gamersgate game. I cam across an interesting looking Indie game and ended up purchasing it (called Really Big Sky) only to discover I'd already purchased it on Steam (but not got around to playing it) then got it in one of the Indie Royale bundles (Really Big bundle).
Just downloaded this bundle after paying more than the recommended proce for it ( usually pay over the odds as I think what they are doing is fantastic (though a bit galling at times when a new one comes out only to find i have most of the games, lol).

I'll post a few images once I've installed and checked the games out, though not sure about 3079. when I checked the download buttons from the Indie Royale site it said it was a jar file which I think is Linux. Still downloaded it, but when unpacking found no executable so wasn't able to play it. Will wait for more info on that one. Also for Wyv & Keep you will require two pieces of software not included before you can play the game.
They are available at:
XNA Framework: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/details.aspx?familyid=a88c6dec-aeae-42cd-a108-d35c013c3b97
.Net 4.0 Framework: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/details.aspx?FamilyID=0a391abd-25c1-4fc0-919f-b21f31ab88b7
Here's some in game images;

Wyv & Keep:

Level 3
OMG, I nearly bought into 3079 the other day. I was checking Desura and saw that it was for sale, but had alrady spent too much on games this month so decided to leave it till next month. I know my son will love the game because it looks soooo minecraft like (which he is obsessed with at the moment).
It was inevitable that there were going to be minecraft like clones after tha amazing sucess of minecraft. I've seen a few others with minecraft elements to them as well (I'd even go as far as to say Terraria has some as well even though it is 2D as opposed to 3D)
Anyway here's some images of 3079 that I lifted from the net:
Definitely looks like a game I will be playing.
Posted 12 years ago # -
.jar files are Java not Linux. Right click on the jar file and open it or just double click on it. That will allow you to install. Works fine on my Win7 computer.
Thanks for the additional detail and pictures WR. Also, thanks for changing the Topic Title to reflect the new package.
Posted 12 years ago # -
Yeah, was just talking to pavid who told me about jar files. I should have checked on line but made an assumption. Just wasn't really bothered until finding the images above. Oddly I've never come across the files ever in my 30 years of computing. (First computer I ever used was back in 1982/3 while at university.
Posted 12 years ago # -
@WR: not running into .jar files before is surprising considering how much computing you have done and do. BTW, my first home computer: TRS-80 Model 1 in late 1979. I believe they were first available in 1977. I still remember opening it up to change out the RAM (that looked like little spiders; a rectangular block with little pins sticking out of it like a spider legs). I upgraded from 4K to 16K; an enormous improvement.
Posted 12 years ago # -
Yes it is; to be honest I'm sure I have, but only in passing. My memory is so chronic now, especially with the opiates, I tend to forget even the most obvious of things. even though in retrospect jar to java is such an obvious step.
My first desktop was a Tatung Einstein TC-01 with 80Kb of RAM purchased in 1985 for around £500. It was on sale at the time having been reduced from £800 ($1200). Sickeningly, within three months it was as cheap as £120. The floppy drive was 3", which was unfortunate.
My second desktop was a 386 that ran at 25MHz and had 4Mb of RAM. At the time is was fantastic. I bought it at a fire sale for half it's market value which at the time (1989) was just over a thousand pounds ($1500). We got it for £499 after bidding against a couple of other students. The monitor was a VGA monitor, which at the time was fine. Though later I upgraded it to a super vga monitor. I worked in DOS for a short time before buying a copy of windows 3.0, which I though was amazing at the time.

Jolly Rover | by Brawsome
An original 2D point and click adventure game from Brawsome! Players follow the short and stubby tail of canine protagonist Gaius James Rover across three wild and untamed tropical islands, as he attempts to fulfil his dream of starting a circus, hampered only by pirates, villains, voodoo, love and considerable lack of loot. Jolly Rover includes over 60 beautifully rendered scenes to explore and 25 colourful, fully animated and voiced characters.
http://www.indieroyale.com/games/preview/jolly-rover
It be the golden age of pirates! Dogs of the sea! Quite literally.
Our swashbuckling sausage-dog star is Gaius James Rover, son of the famous clown Jolly Rover, who died from a blow to the groin from an improperly loaded joke cannon.
Following the tragically comedic death of his father, young Gaius goes to live with his uncle, a wealthy plantation owner on a small Caribbean island. While his uncle is away, a large contract for the potent and addictive Jolly Rover arrives from Guy DeSilver, Governor of the notorious Groggy Island, with payment upfront!
In a blinding flurry of optimism, Gaius pools his meagre savings with this advance and charters a ship and crew to take him to Groggy Island. Along the way he meets a colourful band of seafaring cutthroats, scallywags and rogues otherwise known as pirates.
It is here we begin to follow the short and stubby tail of Gaius across three wild and untamed tropical islands, as he attempts to fulfil his dream of starting a circus, hampered only by pirates, villains, voodoo, love and considerable lack of loot....

http://www.vertexdispenser.com/http://mightyvision.blogspot.com/ Vertex Dispenser | by brog
Vertex Dispenser is a fast-paced abstract strategy game with mathematical puzzle elements. Wrestle for control of territory on bizarre geometric worlds. Carefully plan your conquests to maximise the colours of your vertices, capture solid faces to defend them, then eradicate your enemies with a variety of special attacks.
http://www.indieroyale.com/games/preview/vertex-dispenserVertex Cortex Remix Vortex
Vertex Dispenser is currently available as part of an Indie Royale bundle. So you can pay a variable amount of money for it. Weird!
(I updated the game last week or so with some minor bug-fixes and balance tweaks. Nothing significant.)But that's old hat. Made that game ages ago.
They asked if I had any bonus content that could be included. Nothing immediately came to mind, but with my head full of game jams I said "tell you what, I'll do a remix for it". So I came up with Vertex Vortex Cortex Remix. It reuses code and aesthetics from Vertex Dispenser, but it behaves completely differently. It's a "figure it out as you go" puzzle/experience/thing in the vein of Knot-Pharmacard Subcondition J and The Sense of Connectedness.

Video Games were an essential part of my childhood. Not only did they provide me with a way to escape the problems of my youth but games like Zelda, Mega Man and Final Fantasy are what inspired me to begin writing music in the first place. This album is a reflection on my favorite childhood memories as a gamer and a tribute to the games that inspired me to pursue music as a career. The album takes inspiration from early NES game soundtracks in style and form but also extends track lengths to add development and uses various synth sounds to add texture and detail that wouldn't have been possible with the original system.

Hiya txgoogoo, the IndieGala III bundle is (so far) all steam based, so there is nothing to download until you activate the games on Steam. It was the same with their II bundle, only the music albums were downloadable directly, until they added Postal and an Android game into the mix at the last minute.
