What is Indie Royale?

Indie Royale is an indie game bundle website that offers up four top-quality indie titles every two weeks for you to purchase at seriously silly prices. All you need to do is pay the price stated - or pay more - and the four games currently featured will be yours to keep forever.

The website has been set up by the creators of leading independent video game editorial site IndieGames.com and the makers of notable online download service Desura as a joint venture. We know our indie games (a little too much, some might say) and we know the games that are worth playing.

The point of Indie Royale is to put the spotlight on those indie titles which provide fantastic experiences, but may well have been passed over by a good portion of the mainstream gaming public. If you purchase an Indie Royale bundle, you can be safe in the knowledge that you're not only getting four brilliant indie games - you're also supporting worthwhile developers.

Why does the price of the bundle keep changing?

As people buy the bundle, the minimum price for the bundle rises, and you'll have to pay over this amount if you want to purchase a bundle of your own. However, people can also pay over the minimum amount to knock the price down (see the question above for details on that). Hence, the current price will keep changing as the week goes on!

What DRM do the games in the bundle use?

As mentioned in the question above, each game is available to download in a variety of ways. The majority of games will have no DRM whatsoever, and you'll be able to directly download the games as many times as you want. Some specific games will require that you use the Steam digital distribution platform - in these instances, this will be pointed out to you on the Indie Royale front page.

Please read the FAQ http://www.indieroyale.com/faq, because the terms and conditions are different to the other bundles we had.

I couldn't explore everything yet (it's about 5 in the morning) but it seems, that some of the games are only available on Desura or Steam.

You are welcome to add what you found out and what you think about the games.

Thanks graylox, these are four great games! You can take a chance that the price might come down after a gift, but the general trend of the price is upwards, so it might cost you more if you wait. It was £3.29 when I got the bundle. Great offer!

A.R.E.S.: Extinction Agenda (223Mb)

A.R.E.S.: Extinction Agenda is the first chapter in a fully-featured episodic hardcore action packed side-scrolling platformer series. Set in a traditional retro-classic scenario, you play as Ares, a combat robot created for the sole purpose of saving humanity. Can you live up to the task or will you be reduced to nuts and bolts?

Gemini Rue (226Mb)

Azriel Odin, ex-assassin, arrives on the rain-drenched planet of Barracus. When things go horribly wrong, he can only seek help from the very criminals he used to work for. Meanwhile, across the galaxy, a man called Delta-Six wakes up in a hospital with no memory. Without knowing where to turn or who to trust, he vows to escape before he loses his identity completely. As fate brings these two closer together, we discover a world where life is cheap, identities are bought and sold, and a quest for redemption can change the fate of a whole galaxy.

Sanctum (steam key at present, more options later!)

Sanctum is the world's first FPS tower defense game and is set in a beautiful science fiction world. You take the role of Skye, an elite soldier sent out to protect her hometown, Elysion One, from hordes of mysterious alien creatures. To facilitate your success you construct defensive structures and upgrade handheld weapons. Jump right into the fray and wreak havoc with your own weapons - unlike regular tower defense games, you are a key part of the defense. Sanctum has taken the best features of first person shooters and tower defense games to create something totally unique.

Nimbus (349Mb)

Nimbus is a unique combination of racing & puzzling. The player controls a craft with no means of directly propelling itself and needs to use whatever is scattered around the levels to acquire thrust and reach the goal. Traverse a world map with several distinct islands in order to recover your lost love. Light on story, but heavy on gameplay, Nimbus offers several hours of increasingly harder challenges. The game offers over 50 levels available in the main campaign, unique game play that is easy to understand but hard to master and a varied blend of levels that requires a combination of skill & puzzle solving. There are plenty of opportunities for optimizing how you approach each level in order to beat the best times, with several trails, levels and ships to unlock and loads of secrets and tricks to find.

I'm getting a price of £3.17, which means it must have dropped since Chazzo posted earlier. though won't be buying them as I already have all but the wadjet eye game (Gemini Rue, which for me is the least interesting). Thanks for the heads up Graylox. I'll be keeping my eye's open for later deals. I hope they post some that I don't already have. :)

Pity it doesn't include a Steam Key for gemini rue, which is over £5 on Steam at the moment,

There are 3 upcoming bundles if you go to their web page and scroll down.The Difficult 2nd Bundle is 13 days,11:42:56 until served,The Really Big Bundle is 27 days 11:42:56 untll served, and The Alpha Fund bundle is 41 days 11:42.56 until served. Time and dates are from Oct 27-2011, circa 9:15 pm Pacific Standard time.

That's strange; it's now £2.81. I though it was supposed to get more expensive as more users purchased it. Maybe the figure is the average paid (IDK). This is a fantastic bargain. Sanctum alone is worth three times that proce. The sanctum collection is £12.99 which includes the main game, five DLC.s and the sound track. I believe all of the DLC's will be included with the game, so this is a superb oppertunity to get one of the better Tower Defence games, with you playing in the first person perspective.

It is currently $4.76 in the US. WR, the price can go down if you pay more than the minimum. This is from their FAQ on how that works:

"Once you choose to pay for a bundle, you'll be taken to the payment screen. From here, you can choose to alter how much you want to pay for the bundle, choose whether you're buying the bundle for yourself or as a gift, and then choose to pay via Paypal, Visa or Mastercard. "Stars" determine how much you'll knock the price down for everyone else. Depending on how much you pay over the minimum, you'll knock the price down more the higher you go. If you knock the price down enough, you may well end up on the front page scoreboard! (You can choose to opt out of this and remain anonymous if you'd prefer)."

Also, Sanctum does not come with all of the 5 DLCs. The number of DLCs included depends on how many purchase the bundle. I believe they originally said one added for every 10k purchases. So far they have sold almost 29,000 bundles and have released two DLCs: Violator and Killing Floor. Unfortunately there was a misunderstanding with Sanctum's developer and they are now saying the third DLC won't be added until they reach 70,000. With under 3 days left, that may never happen.

Thanks for claryfying things Campy. I decided not to purchase the bundle because there was only Gemini Rue that I didn't own, so didn't bother to check any details.

If they had offered a Steam key with Gemini Rue I'd have contributed, but will now wait until it's on offer on Steam before I purchase it.

Just as a 'heads up' WR, the steam key for Gemini Rue is now included, and the Steam keys for the first two DLC packs for Sanctum (Violator and Killing Floor) are now available as well.
Although it doesn't mention it anywhere, the Desura key also includes Sanctum.

That's cool Stevie. will get it now as I wanted Gemini Rue via Steam, but though the full price was too much (for me). It's gone back up to £3.65, lol. That's still half what you pay just for Gemini Rue via Steam.

The DLC's for Sanctum are very cheap, so if the sales don't hit the mark for another free DLC they would still be worth purchasing (IMO): (cost between 69p/$1 to £1.29/$1.80)

I think it was 5.35US when I bought it..sent them 5.50. So now, I don't feel so cheap. :) My PayPal account was nearly empty.

I bought this for myself and gifted it to a friend as well just for Sanctum, even though I already own it (got the DLC though!). Think of the price of a four-pack (£20.99/$29.99) of that game alone. Spread that around 3 friends, plus the other games for free. That's a bargain!

I paid around £3.60 each for mine, so it figures the price would drop to (presently) £2.41. Even then, that's a huge discount on a great game.

It is nice they stuck to the original deal of a free DLC for every 10k sold. Wonder if we will get another if they reach 40k. The have now released the cheapest 3 DLCs that each just contain one new defense mechanism (usually $0.99). It would be nice if we got one or both of the two map DLCs ($1.99 each on STEAM).

Current minimum price = $4.44.

Thanks again for letting us know about these graylox. 37,564 sold. I'm surprised they didn't sell more of these quality games. The Humble Bundle has sold almost four times as many. I guess the HB is better known, but with quality like this Indie Royale should also build a good reputation.

Damned hard to actually buy at the moment - I keep having 502 errors and blank pages !!

Well.... I purchased it... but the site is so overwhelmed at the moment, I can't actually download them.

On a side note - if anyone would like a free "Ben there Dan that / Time Gentleman please" - I think that I will have a spare Steam key as I already own it, so feel free to PM me and if I can gift it, I will.

What a mess! I got through to paypal and authorized payment and then received an error message so am not sure if I bought or not. Guess I will have to watch my e-mail and see if something shows up. BTW, I didn't think this package was nearly as good as the first one. It includes Nightsky, Scoregasm, Fate of the World and Ben There, Dan That+Time Gentlemen Please.

Campy - keep waiting, the same thing happened to me and it finalised eventually - I checked my Paypal account via the Paypal website and it appeared on there before I got the confirmation from Desura

LOL - I got the bundle without looking what is in it.
Got the same 502 and 504, but have a receipt from PayPal and from Indie Royale - so at least I have the bundle. Now trying to get a gift.

Well, I guess I should have just paid the $1.99 I first saw. I decided to check out the games and consider what they were worth to me. I have figured out from Paypal that my transaction was completed so maybe I will try again later, but frankly I am not all that excited by these.

Feel free, to add a review, though I already own 2 of them, it's better when an avid gamer reviews them. I can only say that I'm a fan of Nifflas and that I love games in comic style. (The graphics are important to me, I mostly play games like I read comic strips.)
