MD#22......a needle threader?
Posted 16 years ago # -
Buckleysmom - I was wonder how long it would take someone to see it. Congratz! You won!
Here is my good old fashioned needle threader.
________________________________________________I'm giving you a little "Blobber" for a prize!

Oh my goodness....I don't believe it! I actually got one......FIREWORKS!!!!! Yaaaayyyyy. See, you just had to make a pic of something I've had a lot of experience with. Can't believe I actually got one. Thanks for the great prize too, gotta go play me some Blobber!

sleep was worth not nailing that one faster than the lamp socket.
*looked* for one too often. Threading a needle manually unassisted, by kerosene lamplight, is a nightmare.
OTOH, that 'old' part reminds me of another item to shoot. thanks.
when I re-enter the lists... watch out.

Needle threaders, should have known that thing! In the late 1940ties (yes I can remember those ancient times) my parents made these things in home work; and I (4y old)tried to help. My parents were unemployed like so many others. A lot of people sought after such sort of work even though it was low-paid. My dad's right hand was crippled by a gunshot wound, therefore he was very slow in putting the needles together. Hence it was my job to help him. But for all that we lost that job, for we didn't reach the demanded amount.
I found a whole box with these old needle threaders in my parents home about 40 years later.

come to think of it I often ended up using a doubled strand of wire...
Posted 16 years ago # -
graylox - That is a very interesting but sad story about the work your parents and you, a mere babe, were subjected to doing for very little in return. It must have been very hard on you all.

I have a new picture for you to ponder:

looks like contact lenses. the "party" ones......these could be lizard eyes.
but, i can't imagine why you would have something like that, maizey. :DPosted 16 years ago # -
funky, Not contact lenses or lizard eyes. If I saw a lizard I would have some closeups! That's something you can count on. :)
Posted 16 years ago # -
Thanks Maizey, not only was the white puzzle an amusing diversion, there's a hilarious feedback comment over there (by Renee) who, IMHO, qualifies for honorary inclusion in GAOTD's Stupidest Comments thread. Renee belongs to a rare group of Darwin Award winner wannabes. Folks who keep banging their heads with hammers while asking their doctors for something to make the headache go away. They also slam car doors on their thumbs a second time just to verify that the doors caused the pain.
#24 - a nightclub lavatory sink seen through the eyes of a very intoxicated patron?
Posted 16 years ago # -
RM - You're welcome. I never looked at the comments while I was playing. Just went back now and you are justified in your observations. Sheryl must be her relative...or maybe they share a brain.
This is the second time your guess referred to something of this nature. If I recall correctly you named another closeup as "any female's cluttered bathroom sink counter". I'm getting a sinking feeling that you may have a Ethernet connection in your bath. FYI: Your guess is inncorrect. :)
Posted 16 years ago # -
is the green extension to the right and up part of it, (handle?) or not?
Is that color correct? I think it is, as it looks like enough of the flash was transmitted through the translucent/transparent 'lens' to flare out and almost obscure the metal rim, but I want to make sure.
Posted 16 years ago # -
And I'll return the favor: G What is it 011
Posted 16 years ago # -
Your memory is scary, Maizey. Sink refs are purely coincidental. Then again, maybe not... am in the process of replacing 5 sets of faucets and some other fixtures in this cave. Hate plumbing! hate - hate - hate
Ethernet connection? Would that be the new wee-fi I keep hearing about? (sorry, you asked for it)Posted 16 years ago # -
RM, my memory is not that good but there were some side conversations that went with your first sink reference that I can recall. wee-fi! LOL Creative! Maybe you could market that with the USB humping dog thing. Or the iToilet case mod! :D
goody - The color is correct and no flash was used. There are two green things which are connected to a larger thing. They are not detachable. The green things are translucent. Very cool!
You are too impatient to show off closeups taken with your new toy. :) It causes some confusion among players when there is more than one game going on. Some people just look back at the most recent posts to find the newest "What is it?" pic. Your pic is very clear and shows plenty of detail though. I like really your new camera!
Is G#11 a picture frame? I have a mirror with a similar pattern.
Posted 16 years ago # -
sorry about any confusion.
no, this is not a picture frame, it's solid brass, and aside from some relatively modest openings one rectangle, one round) it's a solid rectangular plate.
That isn't really a closeup, range was about 28 inches. just cropped out of the original, no resize.
Posted 16 years ago # -
huh, this may stop me cold. are they lit from within?
---------
smaller than I expected, too- here it is with s golf ball for scale.

Morning..
G11 looks like a decoration on a building?
MD24: 2 slices of a cucumber?Posted 16 years ago # -
no, these are usually found inside a building, (not homes) but not decoration.
rough guess, 10 inches by 6 inches.
Posted 16 years ago # -
G#11 -Mail box face plate in the vestibule of a building or a post office?
_____________________________MD-24 Not cucumber and not lit at all. This is part of something ALIVE.

MD24....some sort of fish or fishtank plant?
Posted 16 years ago # -
Buckleysmom, sorry but it's not a fish or a plant.
This thing is not a pet.
Oh, this is a hard one. I had to make it hard because the last couple were too easy. Whoever gets MD24 gets a fun prize!
