FYI, it seems Steam annual summer sale is up for 2011... Sorry if this is a repost; I didn't find it in a quick search. It's similar to WR's 24hr sale list but this just started today and seems larger in scale.

Below are a few games worth noting:

This is Christmas in June/July. I haven't even gotten around to lots of games I got at Christmas. There are so many on sale that I will again mention Didimatic which is the site I use to look at major sales. It is great because you can order all of the items by % discount, price, etc. You can also see sales for many of the major sites on one location. You can also look at just the ones for a specific site.

BTW, the Steam sale runs through July 10th. They also have daily specials at even lower prices. Currently there are 12 posted in the US with discounts ranging from 33% (The Witcher 2 for $33.49) to 85% (Lead & Gold for $1.50).

Hi Need for Speed, I was preparing a post a few hours ago, but hadn't finished it. I had to break off for the kids bed time. It's good that others take the time to post these sales as well, because I don't always have enough time to do it properly. Rather than start a new thread this will be the summer sale thread. Thanks for starting it campy. :)

If you have a large proportion of the games in the packs below (like I do) you can still buy them individuially for 33% off, plus, as Campy mentions above there are daily deals that enable you to purchase some of these games at even better discounts. Even if you have half of the games in a pack IMO they are still amazing deals. :)

I've posted details of each of the following packs becasue they will be available for the duration of the sale. If I get time i'll try to post the daily deals as and when they arrive unless other forum members do it first 9would appreciate some help - thanks)

Here's the THQ pack. You can buy this one for £34.99 (approx $52) at 85% off. The pack which includes 13 of THQ's best games (though doesn't include their latest release Red Faction Armageddon, but does include aprils Homefront release) would normally cost you £226 (approx $340). I only just got homefront several weeks for full price (£25) all the games are excellent quality games and well wporth the asking price.

Ha-ha I feel the same Deserthead, but I know I will be buying at least those that are on my wish list (check my wish list out, it's got 92 games listed, lol and at least 20 of them are in the sale.

You'll have to let us know whether you managed to hold off. After all, there's always the end of year Christmas sales. :)

I purchased 260 games over the Christmas sales and have still not worked through all of those. That said, some of the games were purchased as packages and I wouldn't have bought some of the games in the package. I now make sure I check out at least three or four un-played games on a weekly basis in between taking breaks from my newest acquisitions and favourites.

I've got to try holding off purchasing any game for several weeks before one of these sales from now on as I’m fed up of seeing games that I’ve literally only just purchased, for example the Ironclad games and the Dungeons & Dragons game were only released last week and already you can get them for half price and games like Operation Flashpoint: Red River which was only released in the US a few weeks ago as well as other big name games like Shogun 2: Total War are on decent discounts of at least 30%.

I spent entirely too much money over the course of the sale - they just kept reducing games I wanted! As it's the last day I thought I'd mention some of the better deals still available:

Sanctum - First person tower defense and great fun, though a little short. £2.49/$3.75 or buy a 4-pack to play co-op games for £6.65/$9.86

Assassin's Creed Complete pack - Action adventure. Get all three games including the latest (released March 22) for £16.99/$27.19 or each game individually for approximately 66% off.

Fallout New Vegas - Action RPG. £8.99/$14.99

Portal 2 - Action adventure. Amazing game. This is the cheapest it's been since it was released in April. Half price at £14.99/$24.99. With the editing tools included there should be tons of free levels down the road.

So there's a few of the more popular games. There's just under 18 hours left so if you're looking for a bargain, you'd better hurry!

A great set of games you've listed there Bently. I love all of them. Although the main sale is over the 'publisher pack' deals will go on for another day. You can see what games are available in these packs above. Some of the packs have up to 90% off. One pack in particular (Paradox Interactive) includes 80 games which would normally cost nearly £532 (approx. $900) but you can get the whole lot for less than £55.

As always we've seen some amazing deals and I bet most of you who use steam spent far too much lol. I’m still working through the games I bought over the Christmas sale and I even have a couple from last year’s summer sale. but I’m almost done checking out those games and apart from a few duds was really pleased with most purchases. This summer sale hasn't been any different with yet more bargains. Most of the big deals I'd already bought. I was amazed at how many recently released games were included in the sale with as much as 75% off games that had only been out for less than 3 months. Some had only just been released a few days before the sale started for example Dungeons and Dragons. Operation Flashpoint: Red River had only been released the previous week in America, though us Europeans had got the game a couple of months ago. I saw virtually every recent game that I’d purchased as a pre-order reduced in this sale (The Witcher 2, Portal 2, Shogun 2: Total War, Mount & blade: with fire & Sword, Bulletstorm, Dragonage II, Duke Nukem, Dungeons & Dragons, Assassins Creed: Brotherhood, Fable III plus a few more; so, from now on unless it's one I really must have when it's released (e.g. Serious Sam 3 {which Croteam, the developer had been promising for over 5 years} and the Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim), I'm going to wait until the Christmas sale. Yeah I know, I've said it before, but this time it's got to happen as it seems such a waste of money paying full price when Steam are only going to reduce it generously a few months later. In the mean time I've got plenty of games to keep me occupied, lol.
