It's 1.30am Saturday morning here in the UK and as yet there are no games for this weekend. The game giveaway team never leav it this late to add the games we get on a weekend, so I can only presume that there won't be any games this weekend. Still, check just in case I'm wrong.

They managed to find a game! Keeping you on your toes, then ;)

Amanda47: only a raffle sadly
i mean sure, i understand that its better than nothing but yeah.. if i wanted to have a chance to win something, i would go to steamgifts.
and yes, I understand that sometimes its this or nothing and that GOTD staff have increasing difficulties to find devs who are willing to give away their games on the site but it may be useful to directly ask the community if.
1.they would rather see more raffles for games including steam ones
2.or have actual game giveaways whenever its possible, even if its DRM-free

I'm a long-time user of GGOTD and have also been sorry to see the changes that have happened this year.
However, rather reluctantly I installed a game some time ago that required me to set up a Steam user. Then I followed a really helpful post from another person on this forum that sent me to a Bundle of games for a very low price (needing to be loaded via Steam). I can say that I've not had any problems at all using Steam - apart from the odd time when it needs updating when I switch my computer on - and that can happen while I'm eating my breakfast :)
Since setting up my Steam user, I've also purchased another Bundle of fantastic games (I'm a real HOPA addict) for a song, and have not had any problems either with my PC, my antivirus or anything else.
So I honestly would say that anyone who is worrying about setting up theirselves on Steam shouldn't be concerned. OK, it comes up with "achievements" etc, but I've just ignored them.
However, I have noticed a decline in the types of games offered on Game Giveaway of the Day recently, and I do worry that the site owners may have been shooting themselves in the foot with all the changes. Hopefully all will sort itself out soon.

Why do I get the impression that GGOTD is being taken over by Steam?
Long time user here also and I wont bow down to Steam. Already a member and now I am sorry I joined them. But I shall wait until there are other free games on offer.
Thank you all.

"Why do I get the impression that GGOTD is being taken over by Steam?"
Lol, I get the impression the entire gaming world is being taken over by Steam; and those who do not wish to capitulate are viewed as demented imbeciles. I'm reminded of the Borg, "Resistance is futile. We will assimilate you".
Like you, I will continue to check every weekend in hopes of more free games. (Free = not having to be assimilated.)

It's not only the games that are a problem. The other day I downloaded the "free" version of 4Videosoft DVD copy. It turns out to be a trial version that gives you 3 uses in 15 day. Thanks a lot Giveaway of the Day. Who needs you to get a trial version of anything?

Darn looks like you had to register it on the same day it was downloaded and now it's too late.

We have two games this week. Saturdays is a traditional giveaway, tohugh it is from MPC so is usually always available, 24/7, though we don't get the toolbar/home page hijack hassles, just the browser opening when you close the game down.
Sundays game is one of the limited number of Steam licenses (50 available). i already have the game which was one of the cheapest games available on Steam at this time. I can't say much about the game without giving away what it is, but for the price it's okay, especially if you like ***'s. :)

Saturdays game is a jump through hoops game with 50 Steam keys up for grabs, Sundays game is a traditional giveaway with no number limitations. Plus I will be giving away up to 40 or even 50 Steam keys from my own supply ok keys depending on how negative things are). I have 4 to 5 thousand spare Steam keys all purchased legally and decided last week to give some away. (no catch from me though I may decide rather than first come first serrved give keys to those that post something constructive. Haven't decided yet.

Eryi's Action- seems like good game. Just signed on today for a new Steam account. It was easy and fast- secret was pressing "Download Now" button couple times and on steam- under first or file menu is "Activate game"- put in code here and game will now DownInstall..On GGame site I gave review of Puzzle game (Everyone gets a code nice>) as just OK...I was member of Steam 2 hours have 2 games already as I have HD strike is it..Cannot wait for Sundays Windows and GGame..I am having trouble to get even one entry into BATTLE's Join and win..(Or any Join and win I try) Today I have to be eligible as I started Steam Acount..I thought through e-mal would be one entry, or one chance. Doesn't seem to work for me each week..?? I am glad I took that Plunge (Steam) don't know what took me so long..I switched camps to that side now away from those who say steam is Malyware or Ancient greek warfare trick...

With 70 plus million users it's got to be good. I wasn't happy when I purchased my first Steamworks games (Galactic Bowling and Defense Grid: The Awakening). I didn't realize what Steamworks games meant. It was only after I'd purchased the games via Direct to Drive and when I came to install them I was told I needed to install Steam first. I was furious, but as it was my own fault I didn't complain. Anyway, within a week I'd discovered the Steam sales. Back in 2009 there were not as many games on sale, but enough for me to think I was onto a good thing. I'd been used to paying almost $20 for a single indie game and suddenly found myself buying a bundle of six excellent indie games for a third of the price of one game. Then I discovered the Steam community and since then the Steam client has had many upgrades and IMO is the best gaming client available today. I really don't know what the problem some community members have with it. It doesn't take up much room, it doesn't use a lot of resources and it is not malware.
Sadly there will always be naysayers. Throughout history whenever there has been something new, there has always been those that opposed it. The Luddites kicked up a massive fuss at the beginning of the industrial revolution, leaving many dead. When the first cars were produced, people thought going faster than 5 mph would damage your body, same when the train was created. Galileo was jailed when he subscribed to Copernicus's heliocentricism because it went counter to the churches belief that the earth was the center of the universe. We shall never be free from conflict.

I agree with yu. HAY?/ Games Guru, can we have a teaser for sat-Sun game giveaways..Like if it is a Steam game or What it is?? I'm going to guess (Or start the rumor) it will be a Match 3 Game,. A year ago I might have said yuck! at M3. My wife got me in to them, and I realized they are great..I wasn't inpressed with Oympus trials. 7Gates was better, Call of the ages even better than those.. Fishdom and tales of the orient are great; The Spell is good; Flying Dutchman was good as well. .If we can put 4Elements Collecters in Match3 (#colors same or more is this game)category then it is the very greatest one.. The GGOTD Team has done well in 15-16 with these M3's TY .

Both games this weekend are Steam keys, Saturdays is limited to 100. not sure about Sundays. it may be limited, or it may be an unlimited Steam key giveaway. Judging by the price of the actual game I think it is unlimited.

Message to Fran, i only saw your comment in the game comments section from the 4th June earlier today (11th June). I took a week off everything so it was only a couple of hours ago that I saw the comment. I replied to it, but am not sure if the reply was recorded as it took me almost an hour to write and by the time I posted it (about 10 minutes ago), I'd been logged out. It's several pages back so i'll check later when i return to my moderating.
If there is no reply, I will reply to you personally via email sometime this week. I got several things to do and sort this weekend, and bearing in mind it took me over an hour to reply to your comment, I don't have the time to re write what I'd posted. Wish i'd saved it to a document first, but had forgotten my log ins are now timed. Before the changes i could log in in the morning and still be logged in 24 hours later. Now, if I appear idle for more than 10 minutes or so I'm automatically logged out.
I was concerned about some of the things you said as what I wrote above was only meant to be a personal exchange between me and Phillip and was never meant to convey any notion that the site was becoming hard core. As for the mention of Luddite, that was meant to be an example of how all communities take change and was not meant to imply anything negative towards the game giveaway community. The only reason I remain at this site is because of the community. People like yourself and others who have always been kind and considerate in their comments.

We will be getting an unlimited non Steam game on Sunday. All I can say about the game is, we've never had it before and it will be quite a large download at almost 1GB, so if you have a slow connection be prepared for a long download time, start downloading early.
Update.
looks like Saturdays game was posted late. I've only just found out at 1pm GMT. By the time I'd finish a review it would be approaching 6pm, almost halfway through the giveaway, so I'm not going to bother with a review today. I checked at 9am, the time game giveaways go live here in the UK and there was no sign of a game. When I checked the listings it was still in the un-scheduled list. So I assumed we weren't getting a game today. Usually i'm given enough time, at least by staying up most of the night prior to a giveaway to be able to post some semblance of a review.
I may post some images and video later if I get the time.

I'm unable to get a code for either game this weekend because I can't get the Twitter entries to authenticate. (I've had this problem for several weeks). I don't have a copy of Saturdays game, so won't be posting a review.
Both Saturday and Sundays games are available to everyone, though you will still be required to go thorough various actions, e.g. like the game on Facebook, follow the game on Twitter and share the giveaway page on Facebook.
If like me you cannot authenticate Twitter you won't get the games. I don't have a copy of the game for Saturday so won't be posting a review, which is a pity as I like that particular genre. A little miffed at not being able Saturdays, though ! already have Sundays.
Saturdays is just over 200MB and Sundays is just under 300MB.
I still haven't finished posting games to community members. Been really busy since last week. Rest assured, those that have a game or two coming, will get them. I have loads more to add to the list posted elsewhere in these forums. :)

Well, I guess that lets me out -- I don't have Facebook or Twitter and I refuse to get either.
I don't like the pressure to get the privacy stealing social media!

Hi Dragonlair, actually you don't need Facebook or Twitter for Sundays game, just a Steam account, your name and an email to send the key to. As for Saturdays game, you can get it free directly from Steam, though you won't get the extra pack that is exclusive to the giveaway.
I don't use Facebook, though I did set up a Facebook account several years ago, but only to play some of the games they were offering. When they insisted you use your real name i allowed the account to be deactivated. I created a Twitter account specifically to get free stuff an d almost every free site now seems to require you click on buttons. The Twitter account i created uses a free email account that i created specifically for that purpose and isn't used for anything else. As for Facebook, I've never used it to post details of my life or uploaded images. Again, the account I use, which was my sons, who no longer wants to use a Face book account is just used for the same purpose. there's no security problems as every thing I've given them is now so out dated it's useless information.
I see the use of Facebook, Twitter and other social media just increasing exponentially over the coming years. I can no longer sell the trading cards on my Steam account becasue you need the latest android phones to be able to verify your account, I've refused to use mobile phones for over 15 years and now find I'm being increasingly put at a disadvantage be cause of my feelings towards such technology. cards that have already earned me around £1500 and the value of the four thousand or so i still have is quite significant. I can see in the not too distant future that I'm probably going to be forced to get an android phone just to be able to do the things we all take for granted as they are increasingly becoming ubiquitous in all walks of life.
When I visited Disney several years ago, the number of times our view of various activities was spoiled due to people in front of us standing up to take video of the activities blocking our view. It's becoming more and more prevalent as time passes and will only get worse as will the use of Facebook, Twitter and other social media.
'scuze the rant. I'll I was trying to do was try to explain how as time passes being anti 'social media may exclude you from so many things in the not too distant future.

We have two games this weekend, neither of which is a Steam key nor do we have to jump through hoops to get them. At least it looks that way.
Unfortunately I won't be around much as I really need to stay in bed curled up with a hot water bottle. I've not been well all week (Woke up last Sunday feeling like death warmed up; so after re posting the review for the rerun went back to bed where I've been most of the week). I don't feel any better, so will probably not be posting any reviews this weekend (will try, but no promises). I will log-in to moderate occasionally.
There are a couple of excellent deals on a the moment which I would ask someone to post in the comments section tomorrow (Saturday).
Trainz A New Era Deluxe bundle has 88% off. For the game and all four of the route dlc's it would usually cost $179.9, but for a limited period the bundle costs only $19.99. Check it out via the following link:
https://deals.indiegamebundles.com/sales/trainz-a-new-era-deluxe-bundle?utm_source=indiegamebundles.com&utm_medium=referral&utm_campaign=trainz-a-new-era-deluxe-bundle_070616 or via Falamid's site https://deals.sharewareonsale.com/sales/trainz-a-new-era-deluxe-bundle. You get the main game plus four dlc packs all of which cost as much as the main game, but with this bundle you basically get the game cheaper than normal and all four dlc's free. i.e. Bidye Traction Railroad, Milwaukee Road - Avery Drexel, Season Town, and Warwick to Wallangarra. You can see a video of Warwick to Wallangarra via the following link:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LRWVPfFPrdkElite Dangerous: Arena is totally free over on Steam for this weekend only. This is the latest version of the cult classic space trading game Elite. I backed the initial release of Elite Dangerous on Kickstarter about 4 years ago. The game was finally released last year and now has a couple of add ons and a stand alone expansion, which is free this weekend.

Whiterabbit-uk, I'm sorry to hear you're feeling so badly, I hope you get better soon and thank you so much for still thinking about us and sharing this great information.

yikes WR so sorry to hear that you are still feeling so poorly!
We don't want you worsening the process...
Rest is definitely the best remedy.
take care...Posted 8 years ago # -
Thank you for your kind words Terri and Alianthia' feeling much better now, though still not 100%.
Saturdays 16th July) game is a jump through hoops game, which looks like an excellent all round family game that was released on Steam last month and amazingly it's a game I don't own (considering I have at least 95% of the games available on Steam). So far I've not won one key despite entering every competition (one of which should have virtually guaranteed a win with 99% of entrants probably winning a key judging by the number of entries and the key numbers available). Maybe my luck will change this time. :)
Sundays is an unlimited license game from MyPlayCity that is just over half a gigabyte, so I would advise those with slow internet connections to download as early as possible.
regards
WR

Cool -- now don't get overeager & overdo it like so many [including myself] are prone to do.
Maybe my luck will change this time.
This is where someone more clever than I would insert a humorous comment, perhaps having to do with rabbit's feet. ;)

Everything has been up in the air for most of the week due to my main computer breaking down last weekend. I finally found my admin password to access the game giveaway admin panel yesterday, so didn't post any details. you already know what Saturdays game was; as for Sunday, there are seven games in the que for giving away, at least two MPC games, two Xing games, one Alawar and one unknown and one unlimited Steam key though you will probably have to jump through hoops. At least everyone who wants one will get a key.
However, at this time (7 hours before a game should go live) none of those have been scheduled for Sunday. I will check in the morning to see if one of the giveaway team have decided which one is going to be given away. There may not be a Sunday game at all; however, this happed several weeks ago, where none had been scheduled, and when I checked first thing in the morning nothing had gone live so I didn't bother to visit the game giveaway site until I received an email mid afternoon from a friend, telling me a game had been posted, but almost an hour late.
We shall see in the morning. :)
ps, if it's the Steam game, I can tell you if you like games with a first person perspective and it has rocket launchers you may like this game. It's amazingly cheap for the content you get, and, in my opinion a worthy game giveaway, though I'm sure some will not like it. I purchased it when it was released some months ago and played it for over four hours. It also has Steam achievements.

Checked back at just before 9am when it's supposed to go live here in the UK and no show. So it looks like there's no game for sunday. That said, as mentioned above, a game did appear late in very similar circumstances several weeks ago, so it may pay to recheck layer. I'm off to watch an old repeat of Quantum leap, will check back layer to confirm whether it's a yes or no for sunday. fingers crossed.
Don't forget there are a couple of free games available via uPlay and Origin. also Steam have released some more free games, that look pretty good. Check The Daily Indie Game site as well because Crystals of Time is still available (Steam key)
Posted 8 years ago # -
Hey Mikiem, I won a key. amazing, a game I didn't actually own on Steam. Was very pleased, tohugh the game wasn't up to much. :)
Posted 8 years ago # -
Looks like the next game is going to go live in four days. That's Thursday. :)
Posted 8 years ago # -
It's Masked Shooters 2 today. I'm not sure that's a great title given the events in the world the last several weeks.
