I can't extract "Cradle of Rome 2". It downloads and extracts, but when I try to install it I get the Message "Extracting files to C:\Users\Lonnie\Downloads\CradleofRome2 folder. The archive is either in unknown format or damaged."
I've cleared my browser, disabled my antivirus, re-downloaded it 3 times, all with the same message. Any suggestions??

I second Campy's suggestion. While I love it when there are two games, on those weekends there is only one, it would be great if it could be offered Saturday and Sunday; no loss to us, and an extra chance to download if there are issues! At any rate, always a delight to see what's on offer!

It's a great idea running a game for two days if e only have one, especially if it's a large download. It wold be down to the developers and distributors, who give us these game to allow such generosity. Lets hope it happens. :) That said, it would mean more work for me.

We've got at least one decent game giveaway this weekend, with another in the lists, but which hasn't been sorted yet. Will let you know tomorrow evening if it's going to be a two game weekend or just one. It's a Playrix game so should be good for most community members.

We have at least one game this weekend, this time from our other favorite developer Alawar. It's a new game, that is, it's never been given away via the game giveaway site before.
The game is over a third of a gigabyte in size (almost 400MB), so, for those with slow download speeds I advise you to download as early as possible to ensure you get the game before the giveaway ends. I'm not sure yet whether it will be given away on Saturday or Sunday. There is still the possibility of a second game.

unfortunately, the second game in the listings hasn't been added to this weekends giveaways, so definitely only one game this weekend. As usual it will be given away on Sunday.

thanks for the update Wabbit, always nice to see games from Alawar, generous people overthere. To bad such a big game is only available for one day, I might have a great speed on my line (180Mbit down/18 up, me smiling all day) I know many have slow speeds. If this should be the case next Sunday, how does GOTD feel about mirroring the GOTD package that day by users like me? (only day of giveaway, unaltered package, link only placed after moderator approval of post and package as is always the case with the comments)

Re: uninstalling. I'm kinda skeeved out when a game I install doesn't appear in ADD/Remove nor in Geek Uninstaller or Revo Uninstaller. I know WR has said to just delete the installed directory, which is fine, but he also mentions (and I've confirmed previously) that there are often bits and pieces in the registry, so a real uninstall would be nice. Anyone know if the latest giveaway, Amanda Rose, The Game of Time, is clean enough to just dete the directory, as it doesn't show up to uninstall. Thanks.
BTW, the game was fun (til the end which actually got too easy so was a bit of anti-climax). Thanks for another fun game!

OMG, looks like Valve (i.e. steam) are now contributing to games on the giveaway site. The game in question hasn't got a download link yet, so may not be in this weekends game giveaway. This could be very good news for the game giveaway. If Valve are getting in on the act, we could be seeing some excellent indie games coming in the future. Of course, this is all conjecture at the moment. but there is definitely a game from Valve in the listings (remember Valve have several thousand game sin thir catalogue now, so go go thinking we are going to get Portal, Left 4 Dead etc. :).
The other game this weekend is a new one, that is, its never been given away before. All I can say, its a sequel to a game we've had before that many here consider one of the best giveaways we've ever had. So, make sure you don't miss this weekend. :)
I'll let you know Friday evening whether we will be getting 1 or 2 games this weekend.

As for this weekends games, it's almost certain that the game from Valve industries will be given away this weekend, but the game I thought was going top be given away, may be replaced by another game. We now have three games in the listings. It could be that we get one game this weekend and two games for Christmas next weekend. The only game I'm sure of is the one from valve, which I've been able to download and install. One doesn't have a download link yet and the other doesn't register yet.
No game has been definitely confirmed for this weekend yet w.r.t. which day it will be given. I'll let you know just as soon as I find out.
p.s. don't get your hopes up with respect to a block bister title. that said, I've played the game we are getting and its enjoyable. Definitely agenre we don't usually get here.

update:
Hmmm, the game I thought would be given away this weeked hasn't been scheduled, but the one I initially though was going to be given away, then not, i.e the sequel to one of the community's favorites will be given away on Sunday. Looks like they are saving them for Christmas. We now have 4 games in the listings. i hope there will be a Christmas surprise like they did last Easter. (where we got three gases from Saturday, Sunday and Monday). Christmas day is on a Thursday, so I'm not sure that will happen, but, you never know.
p.s.
I'm not trying to give any hints here; I don't know what the giveaway teams ideas are, I'm just speculating. I've never seen four games in the listings with only one game being given away on a weekend.

I was hoping we'd see a game for Christmas day, like we got for Easter, but it's looking almost certain that we will have to wait till the weekend. There's still three games in the listings, two of which I've been able to download for the review. I will let you know nearer the weekend whether we get one or two. both of the ones I have are new games. :)

Yesterday's game worked beautifully, (go Playrix! my favorite developer/publisher!) but today's gives some rather cryptic errors about "WE" failing to load, then generating a "WE dump" (which puts itself on the desktop!) after you click ok, because of an "unhandled exception" =/ I often have issues with Alawar games. Oh well its on the site I have a membership at, I can play it from there for free also, so I wont worry about fixing it, too much hassle, just nice to own a couple. I think i may have played this before, just don't recall it, either it was very quick or I didn't like it and stopped playing, not exactly the best recommendation, but it does look interesting.

We're getting two games again this weekend, Yeahhhhhh!
Saturday will see us getting a game from the Valve Corporation (i.e Steam), though it doesn't include a Steam key. :) It won't be to everyones taste, but it is totally different to games we've been given here over the past few years and beyond. It's an old game, but is still a decent one. Don't want to say anymore, otherwise I'd give the surprise away. For those who find it a disappointment (undoubtedly some will), I'm sure Sundays game will compensate for it.
I'm really hoping that we see more games from Valve. They have a massive catalogue of games. It will be brilliant to have another big game developer/distributr on board; especially as they are more prone to give a wider chice of games away. Again, I must say that we may not get any more, Saturdays may just be a one off, but I'm really hoping it isn't.
Sundays game is one from Alawar, so promises to be reasonable. :)

Would LOVE to see steam games contribute to the sit by giving away some of the excellent games they have in their catalog. Have be a registered member of Steam for sometime now & can vouch for the quality of their game site! Let's keep our fingers crossed & hope for the best this comming New Year! Happy Gaming Everyone!

I was wondering how that would work. steam games need a key and once in your library it id yours to keep which is not how GGOTD works so how will this work if there is no steam key for a steam game? will we get a "temp" key with some sort of DRM that only allows one time install or something? I am confused this time

Two more games this weekend. Saturdays is one we've never seen before and is a genre we've never had, so hopefully I'll see some happy community members tomorrow. :)
Not checked Sundays, but just from memory I think we haven't had the game before.
