I just finished the game "Green Moon" which I found to be an enjoyable puzzle-adventure game that is published by Absolutist. I looked up absolutist games on the web and found they are giving away the game "Snowfall Flaketrix". All you have to do is give them a name and an email address. The game is located 13 games down on their list. They list it as a "Great tetris-style game - pop the matching color snowflakes and win!"
They also have some games starting at $1.99 and have yearly subscriptions offers.

Thank you for the heads up Dolores! Flower Power, just beneath Snowfall, is free too. Some of the $1.99 games look interesting too.
I used a free game credit from BFG customer service to get Green Moon but haven't played it yet. I've more games than time to play them these days.

I know the feeling about having many games. I'm seriously considering cancelling My BFG subscription until I can get caught up playing the games I have. Played Snowfall and it is a simple windowed game with 3 playing modes.

There are three free games. Snowfall, Flower Power and Matching Hearts (New Years, Valentine's Day & Spring). All three emails went to my spam folder and had to be "rescued".

I cancelled my BFG membership to catch up (both my time and my wallet). I finally downloaded Drawn which I purchased on 1/1/10 and it won't play. Now I'll have yet another credit and very few games left I have any interest in purchasing. I'm happy to say I didn't buy a single game in Feb. The new ones seem to be getting larger and larger and won't play on my computer and the older ones seem to come out as free games on Gamehouse or Sandlot.

Funny sometimes it says "Snowfall" and sometimes it says "Showfall". Online Armor gives me a warning that there is a keylogger trying to run. It makes me rather nervous.

Avira gave no warning on any of the 3 free games.
I noticed that the installed location is "Snowfall but the shortcut group and shortcut are Showfall. I just renamed the shortcut group and the shortcut to the "n" form. Remember Chandler's Law - The only completely debugged program is the one no longer in use. In this case, the install has a bug. :)

I'll try Matching Hearts and see what happens. For some reason I seem to remember getting Flower Power from somewhere but don't see it on my list.

Terri,
My list is now up to 518 games! When you add in all the various multiples (like multiple solitaire games in a single product), it's 1173 games! I shouldn't need more but think that will stop me? :))))

Thanks Dolores, my daughter will love both of those free games.
I'll be postiing some excellent freeware and abandonware games this weekend (looks like there's not going to be any game giveaways again) that includes a great puzzle game, plus several other games, some of which were originally commercial, and one that has been included in a recent survey that suggests it should be one of the top 100 games to be found on your computer. No I'm not going to say what they are yet, but I do think there's something for everyone. :)

I found 2 more free games there - Rats & Spears and Christmas Lights. Neither require any registration or email - just a download.

Hi All:
Perhaps someone may or may not have already spotted this freebie but I wanted to share this with you:
I discovered that when you sign up for the free game e-newsletter from Absolutist.com, the company will gift you one free game from a selected menu. (Per email address)
Here is the link to the website: http://absolutist.com/subscription/
Here is a separate link to view the list of games, description and some screenshots to aid you in selecting the game you would most enjoy.

Moderators, please note: this is a valid free offer from the game website and is not spam. I hope my notification is permitted....
Have fun and be blessed.

Wow Firebride, well spotted. Though the games i'd really like are not in the list of games you can choose. There must be over 30 games to choose from.

Have played Magaic Lines (matching colored balls) 20+ daily. So enjoy this type of game. Have downloaded Snowfall and Matching hearts. So I wish to say THANK YOU to dolores for the heads-up, and for helping me in my addition.

Watch out for some of the games. I chose "Gem Slider" as my freebie for signing up for the newsletter. I cannot download Gem Slider! All I can get is Gem Slider Deluxe! Even though the status bar says gslider.exe for downloading Gem Slider, what you get is gems_deluxe.exe and the code they sent won't work! I have emailed them about the problem and I'll just sit and wait.

Some of the titles on the drop down box aren't on the games list so I don't know how to find out what they are.

Hi Terri:
Regarding the titles that are shown on the drop down box but are not listed on the games list, here is how I worked around that issue. I just opened up a new search box and googled the name of the game + Absolutist. e.g. blox2 absolutist.com (I made up the game name as I do not know which ones are not represented on the list.) The game comes up on the google search and I then go into the link to see the game and make my decision.
Hope that is helpful to you.
I chose Flying Doughman and also Aquabubble Avalanche on a separate email address and both are fine on my Vista Home OS (Great to be able to change compatibility to Windows Xp in Game if needed).

Damn, the first time I backed out until I could check the games and it took my registration anyway and now it "clicked" on the first one which is a Mac game. Two wasted e-mail addresses.

Hi Terri:
That happened to me last night on one of the games I wanted. I entered my email address and while I was looking for the game I wanted, the site took my email address and I was not able to complete the fields to get the game I wanted. I sent an email explaining what happened to Absolutist.com support and asked them to send me the link to download the game I specified for free. I think they will honor it-haven't heard back yet but will give it a few days for a response.
Just send them an email telling them what happened; ask them to either remove your email address so you can redo it or ask them to send you the game you want that is represented on the list (if you have already viewed it). It is possible this is not the first time such a problem has occurred and hopefully they will honor our requests.
I have set my google settings so a separate window in my browser opens up when I go into another site and I do not compromise or lose the first site that is opened.

Dragonlair, I'm having the same problem. I chose Mahjong, but the email I received said "Absolute Mahjong," and the place where there should have been a download link in the email was blank. The only (Windows) mahjong game I could find on their site to download, the file was mahjong.exe, and the code didn't work to register it. I also googled it, as FireBride suggested, but that took me to the same game I'd already downloaded. And in checking several other sites, it appears to be the same/correct game.
I too have an email in to Customer Support, but they don't work weekends (can't blame 'em for that), and say to allow several business days.
In addition to this confusion, the readme.txt file that came with the game I downloaded was partly about the mahjong game, and partly about a Sudoku game! And their site makes it very difficult to find a specific game: if you do manage to find their complete list of games, they're not even in alphabetical order (altho they do separate them into a Windows list and a Mac list).
Ah well, wait and see...

I had so many problems and kept getting warnings from my firewall that I uninstalled all 3 games using Revo Uninstaller to get everything off my computer. None of them seemed that great anyway. Oh well it was a good try.
Posted 14 years ago # -
I explicitly had Avira check out the games (now up to 6) and all work fine (still waiting on the Gem Slider situation - I uninstalled what I had pending an answer to my email). True, they're not the fanciest or the greatest but I ALMOST cleared Matching Hearts once. I got it down to one heart left!
Posted 14 years ago # -
My Comodo AV (part of free version of Internet Security) had a problem with Christmas Lights. It warned me of a Trojan during the install process, which it's never done before, so I cancelled the install and got rid of all the associated files, and the system scanned clean.
Dragonlair, I like Matching Hearts, too. I've not gotten near as close as you have, tho. At first glance, it's a simple game, but also fiendishly difficult!
Posted 14 years ago # -
Other day I posted "THANK YOU to dolores for the heads-up, and for helping me in my addition.". Typographical error. Addition should have been Addiction! Anyway ... Played Matching Hearts a few times. One time left with only one heart. Personally, I found the game somewhat boring so deleted it.
Posted 14 years ago # -
SeniorCitizen, I've got several of this type of game. I don't find them boring. I find them challenging. One of the oldest forms of this that I have is "Clickomania" (both Classic and Next Generation - Classic is better).
That's why there are so many different types of games - everybody has their own likes and dislikes.
I just wish this game had an "undo"!

Do these games have any added surprises like ads or game manglers/managers? I never trust games that need access to the web.
Posted 14 years ago # -
Game manglers, very descriptive! No, that's one complaint I don't have about Absolutist: no game manglers. I guess they wouldn't consider promos of their own games to be ads, but I do. Even with Internet access blocked, a screen pops up when you exit the game, and the exit button is not easy to find, plus it seems to be in a different place for each screen/game. I guess I should just try deleting (or moving) the in-game HTML files for that screen, and see if the games still play.
Posted 14 years ago # -
Delilah,
Only the three original listed freebies have that end screen. I've not seen it with the others I got there, they close normally. As for that terminating self-ad, I've even got a BigFish game that does that. When I questioned it (it implies you still have the trial), they said that it's fine, the developer forgot to take that out of the build they gave them.

I'm still waiting for an answer to my email over the weekend so I sent them another one today - using their "Contact Us" point where they say they will respond within a maximum of 2 business days. It was early this morning so I should hear BY early Monday morning. Will I????
Posted 14 years ago # -
I finally got a response to my email of early morning 2/27, received early morning 3/4. Their response was a link to the same file I already downloaded and installed, the same one that won't register with the code they sent me!
I have emailed them back, but am rather losing interest.
