   Thanks graylox. This I have been buying a lot this weekend as well despite still being tied up replaying Baldur's Gate with GOG's enhanced setup recommendation (having lots of fun with that). I already had GOG versions of several of these and now I have some more. I didn't have the GOG versions of Arcanum or the Quest for Glory games (I probably have the boxed versions in my basement) and they are too good to miss.

    Announcement: GOG.com Now Supports Windows 8 Officially!

    90% of GOG.com games officially supported in Windows 8

    A lot of you have been asking recently if we’re going to support Windows 8 officially. Our answer has been, “let’s wait for the release of the OS and we’ll look into it and see.” Well, Windows 8 has been out for a while, and as such we’ve had time to look into it. We have good news, and we bet you’re never gonna guess what it is!

    Windows 8 support? Oh. Wow. Yeah. Good guess. How did you--wow. That was a good guess.

    So as of today we're adding official Windows 8 support for most of the games in GOG.com catalog. There are currently 431 titles fixed, tested, and reported to be working properly under Microsoft's new OS. Note that most of these have not had the master builds updated, so you shouldn’t need to redownload the installer or anything. Some of the titles, our build ninjas performed their usual magic on, and they’ll work now in Windows 8--and we’re even adding Windows 7 support to a few. We’ll also be adding more Windows 8 games as time goes by and we’ve got time to apply some fixes to more of the classic games in the catalog.

    graylox - sounds to me like you need a hard drive and these must-have games. Better work up a plan to achieve that objective. I have found that holding off for a while to get a better deal can be effective. However, you are going to have a tough time finding better deals than the GOG daily deals that are 75% off.

    Today I picked up Legend of Grimrock (I had been waiting for a super deal on this one) and The Real Texas. I already had Torchlight and the Geneforge series and wasn't interested in Inquisitor. I didn't know anything about TRT, but in a quick check it looks to be something different and has received pretty positive reviews. At this price, I decided to check it out.

    I'm now up to 95 packages on GOG (well over 100 games).

    Yesterday was another sale where I would have bought several at the 75% off price, but they were in bundles and I didn't want the whole bundle. I still may buy a few at the 50% off price before this is over, but I have so many games I haven't played (or replayed in the case of many GOG games) that is is tough to get exited about more even at 50% off.

    Today's sale is the Daedalic Adventures Bundle that was also available yesterday. Here are the games: The Whispered World, Deopnia, Edna and Harvey: The Breakout and Edna and Harvey's New Eyes, Dark Eye: The Chains of Satinav, and A New Beginning. The entire bundle is $21.20. If you don't buy all that you don't already have with them then the individual games cost between $4.99 and $9.99.

    As GOG has unearthed and re-released vintage video games from EA's catalogue, the digital distributor has come up short a few expansion packs. Ever the kind soul, it has now secured a few more, for Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri, Wing Commander 1 and 2, and Wing Commander Privateer, and given them to free to people who've already bought the games on GOG. A merry Winterval to one and all!

    Yes, GOG has rolled out the Alien Crossfire expansion for Alpha Centauri, both Secret Missions expansions for the original Wing Commander, the two Special Operation expansions for Wing Commander 2, and Righteous Fire for Wing Commander: Privateer. Oh, what treats!

    Too bad they apparently aren't going to have a Wing Commander & Privateer Bundle. That is one that would have been of interest to me. I still might try one of the games to see what it is like. I can remember when some of these games were a stretch for my computer to handle. Now I am concerned that the dated graphics will diminish the experience.

    I already have Alpha Centauri so was glad to pick up Crossfire yesterday.

    Why do you like Leisure Suit Larry? I understand why you did, back in the day, but why do you continue to like it? Why did you buy enough of them for too many sequels to be made, let alone a spin-off starring Larry's nephew and a sequel to that, why have you backed a Kickstarter for a remake of the first game, and then voted to get that on Steam? And why are you excited that GOG today re-released a bundle of vintage Larry games? You, yes you, you personally, you.

    The 500th item to hit GOG's catalogue is the Leisure Suit Larry's Greatest Hits and Misses collection, which offers the first five of Sierra's adventure games (1-3, then 5 and 6, technically: 4 is a 'lost' game as an in-joke) for $9.99. You also get the text adventure game which inspired the first Leisure Suit Larry, Softporn Adventure.

    Granted, some of the Leisure Suit Larry games were genuinely good adventure games back in the day, but please, you can't continue to support this. What if they make another game starring his nephew? And another? And another? And the remakes continue and continue? There are loads of new video games you could buy, and it's not even remotely difficult to make pornography appear on your computer nowadays.
