Haven't been able to do much of anything in the tubes, R/L has been keeping me rather busy...
Sorry I haven't been able to write *sigh*I think it will take ~2 to 3 more months before most of the work in the house is done and we get some semblance of normalcy.
Got myself a new guy, he's been very helpful, il connaît des gens compétants ds les autres corps de métier (plombier, plâtrier, briqueteur, etc), so things are looking up. Boy, been spending way too much money.But at least I'm getting some help, so I'm starting to get hopeful things will get better.

MemberHey Lek! So you still are alive and kicking.....I was beginning to wonder (and worry). Your posts just reminded me so much of the "good old days". Ahhhhhh....so much fun. I giggled till my cheeks hurt. The tools, the pond, the pics, the "engagement". As I recall several damsels would have gone for Mr. Wonderful had they not already been spoken for. By the way.....he posted here just a few weeks ago....don't remember which thread though.....other than that I haven't heard from him in quite some time.....many months. Hope and pray he is doing well.

I have missed you so much. Yea, I think Funky took off with your butter knives. I should try to send her an Admiral Seed and see if she sends me back a ransom note with all her demands.
As far as your Fiancé? He has a few of the posts around here. Goody is sick and RuneMeister has been on a Johnny Appleseed sabbatical, I think. I have gotten a few seeds/hints from him when I was battling the Dragon.
I know all about roofs... I had 2 headaches last week and guess when he was there to fix the roof. Glad I didn't have your butter knives. Now it's raining and of course he isn't here(he has one more day to finish)..nor can I plant. It's the middle of June and I still can't get my stuff in the ground.
I was up at 4:30 am yesterday so it was good you didn't call anyway. I got soooo much to do..plant and weed 3 more flower gardens, plant the veggies, help with the church yard/bake sale this weekend, do my collections, working on several projects for VBS(which is in July) plus the norm..washing, cleaning, cooking and all my email/RSS which is backed up since I had those headaches.
What is an Ambassador to do??? Makes my head swim just thinking about it. I need a "Pause Button" in R/L. Wouldn't that be grand? Just hit it and then you could just sit back and think..maybe.

Great to see you here. I have missed your welcome presence in the forums for a long time. There's quite a few of the 'old' crowd missing, though I know Rune hasn't been around due to health. We have had some great additions to the fold over the last several months. I know scubaguy was here recently to update us on his health.
Some disturbing news from me today. Prior to going on vacation last month I loaned one of my personal assistants £40 (I have two assistants who take me to hydrotherapy and help me with my retail therapy) during a pre vacation shopping trip (I needed some water shoes so that I could go to Aquatica and watch the kids enjoy themselves in relative safety. The two walking sticks I use tend to slip on some wet surfaces, so wanted something on my feet that would stick) After a prompt from my P.A. while in the shop and then another one when we were getting into the car, I loaned my P.A. the above mentioned sum. And immediately regretted it, but didn’t think anything else about it and in fact had totally forgotten about it by the time I'd returned from vacation. The next time this particular P.A. worked for me was last Wednesday. He mentioned that he owed me some money at which point I showed surprise and said”Oh! I'd totally forgotten about that”. Then with a short hesitation he dropped a £20 note into my hands. I immediately thought to myself, “I'm sure it was £40”, but knowing how appalling my memory was I decided not to say anything. Anyway, I didn't sleep all night thinking about it, but decided I didn't have proof, so was going to leave it be; but later that day I happened across the receipt I'd got for the water shoes. I immediately phoned the shoe shop to ask if they could tell me if there had been any £20 or £40 purchases shortly after my purchase. They said it wasn't possible to find such information, but I persevered and spoke to the general manager the following day, who took the details from my receipt (date, time, till number and a reference number, and phoned me back 10 minutes later to tell me that there had indeed been a £40 purchase 13 minutes later but no £20 purchases. So….. I decided I had to do something about it because this guy works with other disabled people and it worried me that he may be pulling the same trick on them. Some are very vulnerable. He knew that my memory was really bad, especially my recent short term memory.
The next bit is complicated so I not going to describe it (it'll take me ages to write and I don't want to bore you further as this is a happy birthday to Lekanaw thread) .
I contacted the people who arrange the agency work and asked them to just change agencies for me because of doubt I still had. I know in the past I’ve been certain of some things and have then been shown to be totally wrong, so even though I was probably right there was still a nagging doubt. That was soon to be dispelled though because the P.A. phoned me last night to let me know that he was in danger of losing his job because one of the policies of the agency he works for is that they are not supposed to take money from a client, even if it's meant to only be a loan. He asked me to lie by saying that I'd been mistaken with respect to the loan I’d made to him; offering me money to do so. He never apologized for the rip off though and even tried to persuade me that I was mistaken about the loan after I’d refused to compromise my own integrity (he'd also told the agency that he'd not borrowed from me) despite already having given me £20 back. It was a very uncomfortable phone conversation. I feel awful that he's almost certainly lost his job because of this, especially as it could have been avoided if I'd said something immediately, as he could easily have then said he'd made a mistake when he first tried to rip me off. I think he was an opportunist though, so maybe it is for the best because he may have become bolder and tried to rip others off. I do know he was having financial problems, so losing his job is only going to compound his problems. What a price to pay for £20 :(

MemberWrabbit....You have no reason to feel bad for that guy. If the agency doesn't want them to borrow from a client how do you think they'd feel about him asking you to lie to them. This guy sounds like big trouble and if he's going to be doing that stuff he deserves to lose his job. If more people lost jobs over their non-professional, deceptive behavior maybe there would be less of that kind of stuff going on.
Sorry.....just had to share me 2 cents, cause you're a nice guy and you don't deserve someone doing this to you.

Rabbit.. I agree with BK.. don't feel bad about causing problems for that PA.. he caused his OWN problems. I hate when people try taking advantage of others weaknesses, and if he loses his job, this just might spare someone else getting burned by him! He has no business asking anyone he cares for to loan him anything.. hubby had a saying, when someone asked him for a loan.. he'd say, "I'll loan it to you if you promise you won't stop being my friend when you find you can't pay it back".. I'm sure you follow that one.. when someone 'borrows' something, suddenly they disappear from your life, and go out of their way to avoid you! Sad, but true.

I was referring to someone we recently met {Sylvain} He works construction, is terrific, honest!!, hard worker, very nice. There aren't many of those around these days, believe me, cause I've been looking!!! That's why I was so excited!Plus, when I get stumped on how to resolve a problem he gives me great ideas!! Generally they just dismiss it as in "Little Lady", it cant be done instead of working «with» me - I absolutely hate that condescending "Little Lady" part!!!!!!!!!!!! Usually I stare them down, but still makes me boil, as I'm the one that does all the design, supervise materials, plumbing, tools, etc
Anyway, Sylvain is starting to build the little balcony (I've been dreaming about it for 10 years) next week - And Yes, that one is illegal too - 'apparently' no structures allowed on the side of the house either ... *sigh*

Yes, the «Login» thing seems to be resolved, I can post comments on blogs and I now have access to Megaupload too.
Still no go for zShare and several other bizarro things happening, like no access to vid at certain sites like TV5 (Europe), CNN (US), RDI (Qc).
And I still cant load the camera and one of the iPods (but no problem for the other iPod!)
And IE still not functioning either.
Ambassador tells me its really bizarre that some stuff works and others just dont!But overall its GREAT, I can do a lot more than b4 & access sites I couldn't!!!

On the contrary, thank you for sharing w us.In that situation I do think you did the best and you dealt w it properly!
Even if it was hard for you to go through w it, as these kind of situations take courage & a lot of energy!Gee, if that isn't a good piece of manipulation, I dont know what is.
In a sense, it was preferable that it happened to you, as even in your situation you are in a better position & better equipped to see it wasn't right.Sometimes I really dont understand us humans.
What in the hell are we doing to ea other? Why cant we just be kind & help one another?!!A couple of months ago there was a reportage about a young paralysed men, living in assisted housing (here in Montréal). Everyday someone had to come help w food, bathroom, etc. He became friendly w one of the caregivers - they were about the same age, so they had more in common. The thing was, some stuff kept disappearing, like jewelry, electronics, money.
He got puzzled and confided w that caregiver, them being friends and all.
The caregiver always demonstrated that it couldn't be, either those things didn't exist or he had misplaced them himself.
That poor young became more & more confused, thinking he was imagining things, which is easy when you are medicated, stressed, desperate.
One day, just for the heck of it, he managed to set up a hidden camera and he started taping whenever someone entered the apartment.Well, you know were this is going!!!
After a week of nothing happening w visitors or the other caregivers, the 'friendly' one came. Later he reviewed the tape & saw that as soon as he was wheeled off to the bathroom the caregiver went through all his things, stole a of money, personal items, etc. A total violation of trust.When the y.man complained to the agency, he denied it and again said the meds made him imagine things ...
Luckily this time there was proof.
And do you know that SOB said it was the 'very first time', and he could explain, and it was not his fault!
What crap!!
Just makes me boil.So, what you need to think is, most probably you saved someone else from much worse than just losing £20. These type of personalities are dangerous in so many levels, and not only for the lost money or other valuables, but also the confidence & peace of mind they rob the most vulnerable & weak.
