Hoss, I hope you'll forgive me for hijacking your thread. I debated whether to put this here or on the New Sites thread or to start one. Bumped into this large directory a couple of days ago.

Looks quite interesting. Of course, I'm probably the last to have "discovered" it. I already found a site that has American TV show and cartoon show themes, along with some other music. Though they aren't high quality. Usually 32kbps streaming quality. Still, quite enjoyable for me.

Also, I hope you'll indulge this aside. Saw your last post in New Sites about how you'd been spending time on youtube and scratching your head over the kooky 9/11 conspiracy theorists. What's really a howl for me is these "engineers" who have stepped forward to say that, if you look at the tape, the towers couldn't have collapsed that way if a plane crashed near the top. They only could collapse that way if there were a bomb at the ground level. Well I saw it LIVE, AND watched the tapes, and the towers collapsed EXACTLY as they would have if structural integrity were compromised near the top. I'm no engineer, but I'm not a technical illiterate, either. In fact, it's a classic demonstration of what some would call a, "piledriver effect". I wonder where these "engineers" got their degrees? Do the words "diploma mill" ring a bell? On the other hand, unfortunately, I know of plenty of legitimate scientists who believe all sorts of bizarre things. As Lord Byron said, "I laugh that I may not cry."

Thought I'd add this one I just stumbled on. This strikes me as a great place to start to make sure you've seen all the usual suspects. The site tracks the "100 Best Websites" as voted on by their editors, though there's no detail as to who or how many. Obviously amateurs, but they publish their critera - 21 criteria - and it's very common sense:

I post because they had some things I missed. It might be worth a look to see if you were unaware of a major site that you might find useful. Starting at the top, as it were.

Also, they've just inaugurated a link site to other software depositories. They call the site FreewareFriend:

Also contains a category link tree to download.com, but I haven't found that a difficult site to search, and right now, their method doesn't seem to be working.

One nice feature: both sites, though in English have a bunch of language links to Babelfish for an instant translation for our English as a second language friends.
