   I'm keeping the toolbar closed except for the several seconds when I check to see what the game is so hopefully it won't cause any problems.

   Now for my (what seems to be daily rant) - I am totally stuck on Chapter 18 of Mushroom Age with the mirrors positioned to change the balls to yellow. I opened the walkthrough on my second computer and matched that picture and managed to get the first two to complete but no matter what I do, I can not get the 3rd one to work. I'll probably have to abandon the game since there is no skip option. The same thing happened on the Samantha Swift game in the maze. It is ridiculous that there is no way to skip a puzzle or mini-game that you absolutely can't solve and not be allowed to play the rest of the game. Oh well at least I completed 74% of it but it is VERY frustrating and the reason I will never pay money for a game other than 99 cents.

   Today's game at Gamehouse is a physics based game called Bumps. You position a ball to roll or bounce in order to collect keys that will free other balls from a 'prison'. It is a simple game to learn and is very cartoony but is fun to play. I haven't play very many levels yet but it has been easy so far. I am sure it will get harder as I go along. Get it at Gamehouse.com :-)

   Terri, that sounds a good plan!
   I know what you mean about mushroom age..I had the hardest time with the pinball games(HATE pinball,...lol_)
   My husband tried to help but there was always one elusive yellow ball that refused to be "got"..lol.
   I did finally succeed but AGREE that they should have, "skip", options in these games. I know tons of much older people who enjoy these types of games but who get very frustrated. And YES it would be much worse if you had to pay full price and then not be able to complete the game...

   I loved the pinball games.....but then I've always oved real pinball. The trick for anyone having trouble is this: Before making any moves, drop the ball to see where it goes. Wherever it bounces out of "bounds" place a red ball to redirect it. You will have to do this several times moving and adjusting the red balls till the yellow ball goes to the right places. Hope this makes sense, it's the only way I can describe it. Enjoy!

   Through trial and error I came to use the same process...
   Once one knows the sequence it is sort of easy..lol!
   ;)
   I hope the creators of mushroom age have a sequel in the offing.
   I find it refreshingly different..

   Have any of you downloaded/installed today's GameHouse giveaway, Jewel Match 2? I did, and both times I tried accessing it, everything froze up - couldn't move cursor, couldn't pull up Task Manager, or Start menu to get things working right again. Finally had to uninstall it.

   I can't even get it to download. I thought it was the anti-virus program that was slowing things down but since you said that Sue, I'm going to stop trying to download it. It was an iffy game for me anyway.

   Actually looking at the time of your post, you're talking about yesterday's game. I'm having a problem with today's Super Collapse. I didn't try yesterday.

   Sue.....I also had trouble with Jewel Match 2. It didn't freeze up but the cursor was real hard to find and made for very difficult playing. I tried it and dumped it. Decided it wasn't even worth trying to work out the cobwebs for yet another, very repetitive, match 3 game.

   Merri....I like this type of game too (Mushroom Age). Parts of it are quite a bit "corny" and a lot seems to be geared toward kids, but I like the style and the more challenging parts. I'm almost finished with it and not looking forward to it being over. A sequel would be nice. I have another Nancy Drew game waiting in the wings too, so I'm looking forward to that. :)

    The mushroom age is full of sly allusions to basic philosophy(I took philosophy for one year)
    Then there were amusing parts such as when Leonardo appears dressed as the Mona Lisa(and THAT is a well researched idea, that HE had actually just made a self portrait..)
    ...younger kids would really not "get" these ideas or jokes..
    YET much of the game did seem like it was trying to appeal to younger kids.

    I wish other game developers would look at this game and create some more!
    I am not looking forward to it being over either!
    Nothing much coming up in Gamehouse it seems...

    But I am envious that you have a Nancy Drew waiting!

    Merri.....you must like Nancy drew too.....huh? I wish it was possible to share the games. I've played about 5 of them and doubt I'll ever play them again......well.....maybe.....if I have them long enough so I forget all the puzzles :) In the meantime they're just sitting here on my hard drive.

    Yes I really enjoy Nancy Drew games(except when they throw a puzzle in that requires help from a walkthrough..lol)

    I think if they are your own then it is possible to share them but if they are Gamehouse ones I don't think it is possible..

    Just curious what titles are they?

    Merri......From GH I have: Danger on Deception Island, The Secret of Blackmoore Manor, and The White Wolf of Icicle Creek. The ones I purchased are: The Secret of the Crystal Skull, The Phantom of Venice, and The Haunting of Castle Malloy. The one waiting in the wings will either be The Secret of Shadow Ranch or Ransom of the 7 Ships. I have a credit at BF so I haven't made the final decision as to which one to get. Probably 7 ships.

    Have you played any of these yet? I've finished all of them except Blackmoore Manor, I'm about half way through that one.....I keep getting side tracked. :)

    I have played Danger on Deception Island(that was great one and one I lost when I uninstalled another GH game)
    Before that I had gotten half way through The Blackmoore Manor one when it disappeared...
    The Haunting of Castle Malloy didn't work well on my computer, not sure why..

    I may cave one day and buy one as they are cheap enough now!

    I sure know what you mean about getting side tracked...lol!

    Just thought I'd give you all a heads-up about today's game, The History Channel: Lost Worlds. I did the usual, and before it could finish installing everything just locked up. Had to manually turn off the computer. When I did get it restarted I had so much trouble I thought I was going to be forced to do a System Recovery, and I sure don't want to have to do THAT.

    Hi Sue, that is weird..
    I am not going to install it as I saw this ..

    System Requirements:

    * OS: Windows 2000/XP/Vista
    * CPU: 2.0 GHz
    * RAM: 256 MB
    * DirectX: 9.0
    * Hard Drive: 69 MB

    I don't have a computer of that speed..I just have 864 MgH (but strangely enough can run many games that supposedly require 1 Ghz)
    Does your computer have enough Ummphh to run it???

    Installed Lost Worlds this morning, but after playing the first 3 levels with my son, we knew it won't be a keeper. (unlike Alchemist)
    For trying out software, I can only recommend running Returnil, it prevents system desasters quite nicely.

    Merri, my processor is running 2.20 GHz. Funny thing is, when I first clicked to check the info it said 991 MHz. Closed it out, then reopened, and it said 2.20 GHz. Well, assuming the 2.20 figure is correct, and I believe it is, because I've checked it other times, as well. My computer meets all the other requirements, as well, so the game should install and play right. I'm wanting to try again, but am leary about doing it. I might see if mostfun.com has it, and get it from there, instead.

    Terri, I had a problem getting another of GameHouse's games to play right on the same computer, not long back. It was Enchanted Cavern, and one of the music 'elements' got stuck, and would repeat like a broken record. I went and downloaded it from mostfun.com and it plays just fine.

    Maud, I know it was a while ago, but I owe you a great deal of thanks for your comment on installing gamehouse stubs later. I have had heaps of computer/net problems lately and ended up with a few stubs that I was unable to install, however, I found that just double clicking on them installed them (without needing Task Manager). I had particularly wanted the Alchemist game and luckily that was one of the stubs I had, so I'm delighted to now have it. Thank you Maud, I wouldn't have thought to try the stubs if I hadn't read this entire thread and found your comment.

    Today's my day to finish games. I finished Something Special. I thought the locations were interesting but it was just a plain Hidden Objects game and got tedious very quickly. It took a lot of memory (I'm not sure why because it didn't seem like such a long game) so I uninstalled it from my computer.

    I also FINALLY managed to get through the mirror games and finished Mushroom Age. I'm trying to decide whether to keep it or not. My instinct is that I won't want to play it again.

    I haven't been able to play Lost Worlds yet since it says I have the wrong video driver. I'm still working with BFG on this to get Prism to play so maybe that will solve both problems.

    And while I'm going on and on, if anyone is interested, I seem to have solved a LOT of download and game playing problems by uninstalling a-squared. I think that program thought EVERYTHING was a virus. It was more trouble than it was worth (which was free). I put Avira back on my computer. Did a Disc Cleanup and Disc Defrag so hopefully my computer is in really good shape right now.

    Hi terri, I have been away a couple of days and am glad that there wasn't a tremendously good giveaway that I would have missed yesterday....lol.
    I am glad that I didn't download that game; the reviews said that it was a bit ho hum and that was enough reason for me not to get it..
    I used the photos from LizzieB for the mirrors and thankfully they were accurate, but I don't know that I would play Mushroom Age again (but it WAS pretty cute, so I MIGHT keep it until I have forgotten the solutions,,,lol!)
    Yikes about the video driver; hope that you get that solved.
    Hmm that is interesting about a-squared. What a pain!
    I have avast, and thankfully it is pretty good about most applications..(and has a good reputation)

    NolafromNZ; could you possibly list the step by step process that you used to get the gamehouse stub to install????
    I am not sure what you mean by just double clicking as that is how one usually opens a program(so there must have been something else? or NOT??)

    Sorry about the delay in answering you Merri, yet more computer problems! They never seem to end in this NZ household, lol.

    All I did was doubleclick on the gamehouse icon and I got the "Preparing to Install" message come up and after unchecking the usual "Include Google Chrome, blah, blah" the game installer automatically downloaded and installed the game. Just as usual. Mind you, this could have been because they were recent stubs. I don't know if I would have been lucky if they had been older. Hope this helps.

    Hi Merri, The oldest were 2 weeks old. If it hadn't worked, I would have gone for Maud's method using the Task Manager. Have you tried that? I must admit I was surprised that I was just able to download them all as usual after the 24 hour period.

    The oldest one I used was for a Nancy Drew game from the beginning of June, which I installed last week, but again, it only decided to download and install after using the stub from the day I was installing it.
