Lol! Reading these, I just realized I played the whole game the first time (Book of Legends) without even realizing there was a grid of some sort. I saw the PDA there, but kind of ignored it. *&:-D What a dunce.

midori, that is the one thing the developers could explain a bit better; maybe have some text right above the area(or when one hovered over it) ..
LOL sounds like you are one smart cookie as you didn't even need it!

I had no problem downloading Natalie Brooks, I couldn't get the game to play. Every time I tried to start it, it threw me out and went to the quit screen. I couldn't play the other NB game either.
Yes I figured out what the PDA was - duh. Now my problem is that I am $10 short of the plane fare and no more messages so I'm stuck.
Posted 15 years ago # -
Terri.....are you able to go to a previous location? If you can and do when you come back out there should be a new message waiting.......at least that's what happened to me.
Posted 15 years ago # -
Terri, that is annoying, to say the least!
I tried to get my paid version from iwin, but the manager seems inexorably connected even if you have a shortcut(the manager still opens)..darn..
I had death on the nile from them too..
But I guess I will get the ad version from gamehouse as it is such a fun game.
Hope that you can get the Book of Legends sorted out!Posted 15 years ago # -
I started all over again under a different name and the game hung up at the same point. According to BFG a lot of people had the same problem so there must be a glitch in the game. I was just about to pull the plug on the computer which seems to be the only way to get out of some of these hung up games, when it came back up but I was again $10 short with no new messages. I walked away for a little while and when I came back, there was a new message to find the 10 silver coins and I did and was able to go on to Paris. That's as far as I got before I exited to give the game a chance to rest. It was kind of boring doing exactly the same things again. I don't think I'll keep this on my computer after I finish it (if I ever do).

OK I opened it up again and got to the Arc de Triumph and now no matter where I click I CAN'T get the last red lightbulb to replace the white one. I know I'm in the right spot because I looked at the walkthrough. This is very frustrating and getting to the point of being not worth it. I hate games where if you are a micro-inch away from the correct spot, it won't work.
Posted 15 years ago # -
Hi Terri,
The name for that is pixel hunting. You have to move you mouse a tiny bit then click again and again to get things to work which is extremely frustrating especially when you are playing a timed game and just need that one last thing. I hate it, I hate it, I hate it.
Have you found all the red bulbs or does one seem to be missing?
Posted 15 years ago # -
I found all the red bulbs, I just can't get the last one to click on the white bulb. I tried moving the mouse in minute increments but I couldn't get it.
Posted 15 years ago # -
I have had similar trouble on the later levels. I resorted to moving the mouse around the area where the click should have worked and clicking as quickly as I could since there doesn't seem to be any penalty for doing that. Eventually the stupid object went were it should or I got what I needed.
I'm afraid I don't have any other advice for you. Sorry I couldn't be more helpful. Good Luck!!!!
PS: I do remember having trouble somewhere else. I exited the game completely and shut down the Gamehouse launcher. I then restarted the game which solved my problem.
Posted 15 years ago # -
I restarted it under another name and replayed the whole thing and finally got the bulb to click in. It's very slow but at least I was able to complete The Louvre. Now I'm stuck at the Pantheon with the paint and brush. I'm about to check the walk-through. If I have any more trouble, I'm going to give up. I haven't played today's game yet.

Today's game @ Gamehouse is a neat little point & click with fun mini games to boot. It has hidden object, slider puzzles, object match and more. It's called Ancient Secrets, Quest for the Golden Key. I have been playing for about the last half hour but wanted to stop and tell everyone about it. Get it at:
Posted 15 years ago # -
I FINALLY finished Book of Legends and uninstalled it since I don't want to go through the game with all its bugs again. Tomorrow I'll start on Ancient Secrets.
Posted 15 years ago # -
A general thing with hidden object games - one always gets penalised for what is termed 'random' clicking but I know exactly where I'm clicking each time, there's nothing random about it!

Terri and all; have you noticed that if you uninstall a gamehouse game, that it will take ALL other Gamehouse games that you may have on your computer?
This has happened to me a number of times and I find it disappointing.
I only say disappointing as I realise that I do not have any rights to the games (per se) given that they are ad supported and I have not paid anything to play them.
However it IS sad if one had another game that was perhaps not finished only to have it disappear along with the one that one really didn't want!
Anyone have this happen?
Posted 15 years ago # -
No, Merri, I have never had that happen. All of my other games downloaded from Gamehouse are still on my computer. Is it possible you are uninstalling the whole downloader instead of the individual game? I uninstall through my Control Panel, Add/Remove Programs screen and highlight the game I want to uninstall.
Posted 15 years ago # -
Well that is odd, then!
I too use the, "add/remove" programs section, to uninstall mine, but have found repeatedly that when the designated game goes, it takes the others with it...
I have also noticed that if I keep the download file and try to install the game (say a few weeks later) that it won't work(ie it seems one has to install the game on the day that it is given now.
Before, I could save the file (for example if I already had several games on the go but wanted the game offered) and install it on a later day..Posted 15 years ago # -
You could try running a search to see where it is on your computer and delete it from there.
Posted 15 years ago # -
Hello Merri:
You can copy the whole directory of the game to another location and then play from there. I run Returnil when I install any of the Gamehouse games and then copy the game to another partition if I want to keep it.Just finished Ancient Secrets, that was actually fun. Just the ads got a bit annoying towards the end since they appear more frequently.
Pura vida, AlexSJPosted 15 years ago # -
Thanks Alex! I have two hard drives so have put the games I want to keep on the second drive, so if I delete in the future it won't "take" the other games with it?! Hopefully?
Good if so!Posted 15 years ago # -
Merri - I too have saved GameHouse stubs to install later when I was still playing a previous download, and I have found I still can. A day or two ago, when I tried to install an old download, the "preparing to install" window appeared, disappeared, came back, then I got an error message saying something about a queue and a retry fail; I can't remember just what it said. I clicked OK on that and the prepare to install window disappeared, but then it came back again, and again I got the error message.
That happened several times, so just to get it to stop, I opened my Task Manager (you can right-click an empty area on the task bar, then click "Task Manager"), clicked on the Processes tab, then clicked on the "game install" process to highlight it. I OK'd the error message to close it, then clicked "end process" at the bottom of the Task Manager window immediately after closing the error message , before it came back again (make sure the "game install" process is the one highlighted, you don't want to end an important process. Task Manager may ask you if you're sure you want to end it; as long as what's highlighted is "game install" go right ahead). A second "game install" process shows up when the error message appears, and I was going to end both of them, but to my surprise, after I ended one "game install" process, the "preparing to install window returned, and then the larger install window where you have to untick to not install Chrome, and the install proceeded normally.
I have done that now with several old GameHouse stubs, so if you were getting that same error message, try this - you might be able to install those games yet. I hope I have explained this adequately - and that you still have those GameHouse stubs. It just occurred to me that you might have deleted them when you found they didn't work as before. But if you've got them, give it a try.

Merri....I've never had that happen either when I uninstall a GH game but I use Revo Uninstaller. It's and excellent program and it's free. I've never had a bit of trouble with it. You can get it here: Revo
It also cleans up all the "junk" that a lot of programs tend to leave on your system. Check it out.

Buckleysmom, could you please post that link again, it isn't working. I know someone mentioned it before but I don't know in which thread.
Thanks.
Posted 15 years ago # -
Hi Maud!
The exact same thing happened to me but I never thought to try that with the task manager...interesting!
Unfortunately, I got fed up and deleted the old stubs, thinking that they were useless.
But from now on, I will give that idea a try!
Many thanks!!!Buckleysmom, I too use Revo..it is great but the problem comes from Gamehouse, I believe. They must be trying to limit the games available or some thing!
thanks though!
:)Posted 15 years ago # -
Yikes, Merri... I've never had that happen either. I use Revo also, sometimes. But lately I've just been dumping the game folder in the trash, as it seems to be a stand-alone type of game that's contained in one spot. And even if there's a few tiny files left floating around, I'm not gonna worry about it, so as not to lose the other games from now on.
Posted 15 years ago # -
Hi midori!
I should amend that statement about Revo by saying that I usually only use it when I want to make sure everything is gone( like the time I was struggling with Iwin, and wanted every last bit OUT!...lol)
I have tried with the simple add/remove process in the control panel and had the same thing happen so am still scratching my head..lol!
Yes I am not going to use Revo for gamehouse at ALL any more, as it might be a bit too enthusiastic and i am not savvy enough to know what files should be left..It is ODD that the(older) stubs won't work now though....
I have kept a few(hooray) even so in the hopes that I will figure out how to get them to work. Right now I have about 10 games all of which I am about half way through(including replaying Madame Fate which is SUCH a great game!)
:)Posted 15 years ago # -
Terri218 I believe this is the link you are looking for.
Posted 15 years ago # -
Great, thanks. But from what was just said, I get the impression that if I use this I will lose all my Gamehouse games. Is that true?
Posted 15 years ago # -
I am not sure about that but others maybe more knowledgeable than I with regard to it's use .
Posted 15 years ago # -
I'll finish the last chapter of Ancient Secrets and then try it. Thanks again.
