please excuse the time it's taking to send out keys. I've actually misplaced the document with the steam codes i'd selected. I may have to go through the original document to reselct the codes. I've marked them, so it shouldn't be too difficult. I think I may have deleted the wrong document after posting the Steam list above. It just meansd you'll have to wait a little longer for your keys.
Up to 50 free Steam keys from Whiterabbit - starting Sun 22nd May late morning

Hey Whiterabbit, it's fantastic what you are doing! If they are still up for grabs I wouldn't mind Sirius Online and/or ASA: A Space Adventure, Thanks in advance!

No key(s) for me ;( even though I had asked before granny and whizzy and had posted a well written review? If its because of the problems listed in your comment b please forgive me, just didn't want my little 'ol comment way back up there ^ to get overlooked ;) hope things are going better for you Whiterabbit, I know these last couple weeks have been very tough ones for me as well, flat tyres in brand new ones!among other trials and tribulations..but I guess we all have to go through some rough times to be able to appreciate the good ones. It's still a great thing your doing (along with the other person offering game keys too :) Any shooter or space or space shooter is my type, although I'll play RPG's too.
Also don't know if it's easier for you to do it through steam, but I'm majikman17 on there, although I'm rarely on it as I said only have 1 game on it.Posted 8 years ago # -
Hi JBurt,
Basically I accidentally deleted all of the codes from the list I posted above. To create the list above I copied the list with the keys, then deleted all of the keys on the copied list so that I could post it here. I've not been able to find the original list I prepared (I think I may have deleted it by mistake), so what I am having to do now is work backwards and look through all of my documents that have Steam keys recorded. I randomly chose keys from several documents to create the original list, so now I have to search through thousands of games in several differet lists to find the ones I originally selected. (it's very boring work and I take regualr breaks, and also avoid doing it as often as I can) I have a very small window each day where I can do this as things have been really manic recently. Everyone who posted any sort of feedback for last weekends games and who posted requests here will be receiving keys. It's just taking longer than expected.
With respect to Granny's keys, Her comment was the first I selected to sort and I found a couple of duplicate codes that were not from the original source, so both of you will get the games you asked for. Becasue of what you mentioned in your post about not being able to afford games and that you have children, I was going to send you more than you asked for, but I've not decided exactly what yet. I have multiple keys for a lot of the games I listed above, which is why i decided to give them away. With respect to Whizzy; he is a good Steam friend of mine and he'd messaged me via Steam to tell me about a fantastic present he has given me, so I searched through my keys for the game he wanted. I actually gave him a key from a different source as I wasn't able to find the original key.
I'm full of opiate meds (and other meds) that slow me down a lot. Over the last several years since I've been accumulating spare Steam keys I've not been very good at keeping track of where I've copied the codes to. With many documents listing hundreds of keys scattered over several different external hard drives and DVD/Blu Ray storage discs.
I've spent the last several months trying to put all of my spare keys into one document, but the collection is so vast (I've got more like 10 000 or more spare keys rather than the 4 or 5k that I've mentioned previously. Once all of the keys have been copied over to one document, I've then got to place them alphabetically. On top of that, a couple of years ago, I gave about 700 keys away to a friend who was running a giveaway group on Steam, but I forgot to delete those keys from the lists I have. Thankfully I do have a list of those keys in an email that I sent to my friend with all of the game codes i gave away, but as yet I haven't found it (again becasue I've got several different emails and I can't remeber which email i used to send the list. I always keep a copy of such emails, so will find it eventually. Becasue of this I have been wary about giving keys from some of my sources, at least until I've deleted those I've given away from my unclaimed keys.
I do apologise for my lack of communication. I'm very forgetful these days (partly due to the opiates and partly due to a serious head injury that left me with brain damage and probably due to my age as well).

I sent you a friends request via Steam. I don't usually accept friends on Steam with private settings, but have made an exception for you. I have quite a few Steam friends so please do let me know if and when you've accepted it otherwise i may not realize you've accepted. Leave a message on my profile page as well.

WhiteRabbit: I use a spreadsheet to keep track of my software. I used to do the same thing and got tired of searching through files/folders for the info. Whenever I get something new, I just put it in there and let it sort automatically. I also keep track of games/software I have tried and decided I didn't want so I don't waste time downloading them again. I find this most helpful for games. If I have games with more than one key (usually from bundles) I make two separate entries so I can easily see it.
If you aren't familiar with spreadsheet manipulation and set-up, I can help if you like. If you grab that info and put the game name, reg. #, etc. separated by commas it can easily be imported into a spreadsheet. I've been using the Kingsoft suite, which works just fine (if you need a spreadsheet program).

PS. take your time with the keys for me. I've got enough to do right now so I can certainly wait for some time.

It took me almost three hours to re-find most of the codes I'd sorted for this giveaway last week. There were several games included in the original list that I was unable to re-discover so I've deleted them from the original list. They were from a different source than the majority of the codes, and I can't remember the source at this time; but no doubt I'll come across then again eventually. I've made a note of those I removed below the updated list (see page one of this thread for details). Instead of spending even more hours searching for them now, I decided to add another 14 games to the pot from yet another source.
If anyone happened to choose a game from the deleted list, (I've not checked everyones wishes yet as I've been really busy this week with landlord issues, preparations for a birthday dinner (which is tomorrow Saturday 28th May) as well as attending mayoral dinners etc) I can only apologise for the disappointment and ask you to please choose another game or two (if more than one of your choices was removed). When I find the ones that have been mislaid if your first choice was a removed game if I remember I will give you an extra key as an apology bonus. :)
I will be adding more games as time goes by. You can win more than one key weekly by posting constructive comments be they -ve or +ve of each gamegiveaway. If I think your comment/review deserves more than one game, you will get more, so please do list several games from the updated lists.
There are two lists on page one of this thread; one for Steam codes and a much larger one for Desura codes, (as mentioned elsewhere). the Desura codes may include drm free copies, so once you've downloaded the games you can delete the Desura client if you wish. Also some of the codes may unlock Steam codes as well, which can be found by opening up the Desura library that lists any game you have on Desura. If they do I ask that you give those codes back to me so that I can redistribute them. I may have already been given the Steam codes because many of the games came with both Steam and Desura codes. It is those that I suspect will unlock Steam codes which will be the same as the ones I'm holding, or giving away, or have already given away. (I hope I'm not confusing anyone). I need to know those steam codes so that i can mark them as used or not in my records.
When you are listing games that you would like. Also list your favorite genres in order of preference as I may search through my sources for other games that I can give that meet your preferences; though no promises.
As I'm basically forgetful, tired, in constant pain, sleepy (I often wake up with an imprint of my keyboard on my forehead), and ultimately lazy, it may take time to send out keys, but all of those who post here and who have posted constructive comments about the games given away WILL receive their keys in due course via the emails they have provided to be able to sign into thess forums, or to post in the giveaway comments section. If you've provided a throw away email, there's no way I can send the keys to you. The only other alternative is to let me know your Steam name here and I'll send you a friends request.. Doing it the other way around isn't a good idea as I don't check the friends requests very often as there are hundreds of requests from Steam members who only want to beg for free games. I like giving games to people, but I don't like them being begged for.
This is in no way part of the regular game giveaway project. All of the keys I'm giving away are keys I've either purchased, won, received for pre ordering various games, or got free from various offers. Most of the keys I have paid hard cash for so it will be me and not the game giveaway team that are out of pocket. Also, this will not be a permanent feature here as I'm now considering posting reviews of games, not only game giveaways, but other games that I personally enjoy playing on a site a friend has just created for me. It is not open to the community right now, but will be sometime in the not too distant future. When it is open, I will be tranferring this little project of mine to that site and will award games to the community for various reasons, including posting constructive comments about games given away here.
I also hope that other community members will post their own reviews of games they like on that new site, these to will be rewarded with the odd game if I deem them suitable. It will not be a money making venture, just a site for game reviews; though I may add the ability to buy games from various distributors at some time in the future just to be able to pay for the bandwidth and rental costs of the site etc. For example, you can sell Game UK games via your site and get a small percentage of the money that the games sold for if purchased via your site.. What I don't want is a site with loads of advertising as I hate such sites, especially those that have massive buttons that often get confused with the sites actual reason for being there. The number of times I've been side tracked due to mistakenly clicking on the wrong button only to find I've got adware or other malware added, or my home page or browser has been hijacked despite having security turned on. Grrrr!
Okay, lets see how this works out.
Please no whinging about not getting what you wanted, or basically critisizing what I'm trying to do here. I've already spent a considerable amout of time sorting this out, and as already said I get no renumeration for doing this and every game I give away is money out of my own pocket, at least for 99% of the games I'll be giving away. I will drop this totally if complaints are made.

Hi there,
I'm Daniel from game giveaway and I just left some feedback over at https://game.giveawayoftheday.com/escape-this/#comment-3353213. If my comment is good enough I'm interested in "Hacker Evolution Source Code" or if taken "OCEAN CITY RACING".
Thank-you :)

I posted a review of today's free game. I'm probably the worst person to write a review, but it's https://game.giveawayoftheday.com/escape-this/#comment-3353223.

WhiteRabbit, I have not requested any of the games as they do not seem to be to my taste but I wanted to tell you that I think what you are doing is extraordinarily kind and generous. I am sorry you are dealing with so many health issues. I and I'm sure many others really appreciate all that you do for us. Thank you.

Hello Stephen,
I'd like to echo what Terri218 has said - I've really appreciated everything you've done here since I found the site. It's due to your comments that I discovered Steam and signed up, and I've thoroughly enjoyed the couple of HOPA bundles that I've purchased and played. Thank you again and I'm so sorry that this site has changed so radically. I wish you and your friend well with the new website and look forward to seeing it when it comes to pass.

Hi Whiterabbit-uk,
I guess I can't edit my original post here, but I'd like to update my top 5 preferences in accordance with the changes you made:
Sword 'N' Board
Teslagrad
The Ball
Mines of Mars
Al Emmo and the Lost Dutchman's Mine (Desura)My favorite genres are point-and-click adventure games (but not HOGs), action-adventure, and Metroidvanias.
Thanks again for doing this -- I really find it amazing how much time and effort you volunteer in support of the site and now you've added your own giveaways to that as well. I think the only thing about all this that I find more amazing is how many/much people complain as if you owe them something when you're not even a paid employee of the site and no-one is entitled to free games as some kind of birthright in the first place!
Posted 8 years ago # -
I posted a review on "Escape This". Stephen, if you feel it warrants a giveaway, I'd like to have a HOG if possible. If you're out of those, I like word games.
Thanks

I've sorted out keys for everyone who has so far posted here, but have only emailed a couple so far. I've already posted elsewhere that it's been an extremely long day, (not slept since Friday morning) and I'm exhausted , so need to crash. will post codes tomorrow.
I've added several more games this evening, one of which is drm free but also has the potential to get a Steam key later if it is Greenlit.
See the updated list on page 1.

Hi Stephen,
I just posted a review of "Subsea Relic". If it qualifies I'd like a HOG please. Thanks

So sorry to hear about the loss of codes Whiterabbit, and just wondered if you had gotten busy and just didn't see my post, definitely know about getting and being busy, and tragedy striking as it's been a very trying couple weeks for us in that dept. in that regard as well. And I know you've been dealing w/a lot of stuff too..that's what I meant in my 2nd post that I hoped things got better for you and yours, and I truly mean that.
Certainly echo the comments that we appreciate all the hard work you do, and all the time you put in, on making things better for everyone, that is a very admirable quality, and just 1 of the many I'm sure you have. Know I sometimes feel like I'm 60 hrs. behind on sleep, as we have a handicapped child who needs attention at all hrs., although I wouldn't trade her for the world! She is a amazing kid, who brings me joy everyday.
Will start steam when I get a chance..and a buddy who found out I had only the 1 game, gave me a key for a racing game on there, as he wasn't using it, really long download! But I couldn't get it to run right after, and I have some computer horsepower,so it's not that! lol. Must admit with time constraints, especially as summer is here, and yard work/gardening, getting the family out etc.. leaves this especially a time when I don't get to game as much, and I'm sure you know all about that with your family/situation.
Please keep fighting the good fight Stephen, and know that you are appreciated by all of us out here, who send along well wishes as well.Posted 8 years ago # -
WR-UK: Okay, you did ask me about some other games I might be interested in since the Pixel Puzzles 2: Birds was from last week after all (BTW, I notice it is now tagged as claimed- did you send out an email yet? I just checked both my accounts this site knows about and haven't received anything yet). Anyway, I looked through the Steam list and glossed over the Desura list- I'll have to take a closer look in the future- and came up with these, roughly in order of interest:
Sword 'N' Board
Adventures of Shuggy
BADLAND
Little Racers STREETThe first is a little risky being an early access title, but hey, I really like Legend of Zelda style games. The last one is from the Desura list. I don't know how many you might be willing to part with for one comment on Saturday, but I listed four so there might be extra if others claim titles first- I certainly don't expect all four.
If I didn't express it already, thanks for your generosity.
Posted 8 years ago # -
Hi Whiterabbit.
If it doesn't go to the fellow above, I'd be interested in Badland, or Huenison.
Thanks!
Posted 8 years ago # -
Hi Qun Mang, I didn't send out any emails until; I'd allocated every game from those who posted last week. though I did put a little marker next to each game prior to that. I sent you the game you requested, i.e. Pixel Puzzles 2: Birds.
Posted 8 years ago # -
I will be emailing games to those that listed games here for this weekends gamegiveaways, i.e. Subsea Relics and Escape This, either later today, or in the next few days. I've spent an inordinate amount of time working on this leaving more important matters untended.
Posted 8 years ago # -
Everyone who posted comments about the games last week (apart from Delenn, see the note specifically for you below) should now have received their keys. i've used the email you used to create your forum accounts. If these are different to the ones you use to post comments in the gamegiveaway page let me know here and I will repost the keys to you.
To those who posted appropriate comments about this weekends games I am slowly allocating keys to everyone. I have already send a couple to those who posted comments last week as well. You should have received a least two or more keys for your efforts.
I have just added another twelve games to the list of Steam games on page one. I will also be adding more Desura keys soon.
Message to my dear friend Delenn:
I will be posting you some games soon. I know you are on a limited bandwidth connection, so I will be personally searching for DRM free games for you amongst the Desura games listed on page 1. I do have several hundred DRM free games from the now defunct Indie Royale, as i aalready own many of them on Steam I'm considering uploading a few of those to the cloud so tha you can download them, no promises though. I'm totally snowed under with things to do at the moment. Starting up this project has actually taken a considerable amount of my time since last week and I really need to focus more on my sons revision at the moment as he needs constant supervision, otherwise he is easily distracted. The exams he is taking as called AS level exams. They are an intermedite step from GCSE and GCE A levels i.e. from exams taken at 16 to exams taken at 18. The UK government are scrapping them next year, but for some stupid reason, this year they decided to change the format of the exams slightly, so all previous exemplar materials for those exams are now not apropriate, so none of the students have been able to practice similar exams. Thankfully grades are awarded based on the average scores and not specific score. As all students have been at a disadvantage this year, marks are expected to be lower than last year, but grade A's will still be awarded to some even tohugh the same marks last year woukd have earned them a B. My son needs four A's to get his place at Manchester Univeristy of Science and Technology (UMIST) which is thew university where the first true computer was developed).

Hi rrodken, I searched high and low for your comments on the game giveaway comments pages and couldn't find one. To qualify for on or more of these games you need to have made a constructive comment about the game being given away. I'm not asking for a dissertation, nor several paragraphs, in fact just a simple suggestion many qualify you for a game.
I double checked through every comment from last week and this including the game that was given away last Tuesday. Did you post a comment? If you did, please tell me what you said and where is it in relation to other community members, i.e. who posted after you and before you so that I can check again. Thank you. Regards
W.R.
Both games you requested are still available at this time. Maybe post a suitable comment when the next game goes live.
Posted 8 years ago # -
I have an adjustment to make- I am no longer interested in Adventures of Shuggy. I was wondering why it sounded familiar, and when I logged in to GOG I realized why- I already have it, DRM free. And since someone else wants Badland, I will relinquish that one as well. So that leaves just Sword 'N' Board and Little Racers STREET. Sorry for the last-minute change.

Hi Whiterabbit, I have some apologizing to do, first I have to say sorry that you wasted your time looking for my comment. Next sorry that I didn't comment. I didn't understand the rules. I reread the comments and get it now, not sure how I missed it?
I will post a review on this weekends game if there is one, and if that/those games are still up for grabs then maybe I could get one. Either way I'll comment anyways, it's something I mean to do a lot but don't seem to get around to much.Once again it's a Great thing your doing, never seen or heard of anyone doing what you are here!

Hi Stephen,
The genres I like are Hidden Object Games, Match 3's, Word Games, Puzzles, Jigsaws.I picked 4 out of your Desura list. You had said all the HOG's are gone, so there won't be any in the list. The games are in order of preference.
SlideTapPop
Paper Dungeons
Machinarium
UnmechanicalThanks again for the games. I think it is wonderful of you to give these gifts to me. I really appreciate them.

Hi hi, Mr. WhiteRabbit!
Sorry to hear about your loss of codes in the document - I misplace stuff like that all the time (with me it's pattern notes on my crochet works) - and it sucks absolutely.
Been very ill lately and low on energy, slowly picking up with my strength. Some days, as with us all, are better than others.
I'd love any of the Japanese anime game keys you still have available. They're all just for me, so risque is not a problem. Would love to get back into my Visual Novels again.
Working on a book review for a doll pattern book at the moment, slower than I'd like but that's how it goes. No rush on the keys, and I'll be glad for as many as ye can spare.
Thanks for the giveaway and again for the review on today's free game.

I'd love a key to Tempest. Any space combat/trading games are my kind of game.
Best of luck to everyone here!
