Hi, just registered so that I can comment of SAGA :-)

Yesterday I downloaded the new full game installer, it stalled a couple of times but using DownThemAll! with Firefox had no problem resuming, also stalled at 99% had to do resume here too, but all successful. Note! I didn't register/create an account first as I wanted to see if I could use my previous settings from the earlier install.

Then installed into a different folder from the April SAGA, called it SagaFull. After running the game it checked and updated files, then started. It took me directly to the login screen when you enter your player name and password, that worked. I then saw that I still had the settings that I had had in the earlier game, (progress, tasks completed, kingdom already made etc), then checked if I still had the Extras that we were given for free last time, and they were.

AFAIK it is all working properly, started a mission ok, but ran out of time and had to go out.

Love the game but unfortunately will not be able to give it much time because I think it would soon put my monthly bandwidth allowance over the limit of 3GB. Anyone know what sort of size an average file would be when waiting for a new task to start?

EDIT: BTW never had any account suspended or other errors apart from server dropping out at times.

An update to my previous post, looks like I got it a bit wrong I have just realised that to play the FULL game and not the previous version, I did have to register. So the extras from the April version DO NOT show, so... Oh Well :-)

I checked to see if I'd received a reply from the SAGA admins re the suspended account message I received on Sunday. Still no reply, but I assume they were flooded with query's over the weekend. Anyway, Yesterday I set up an account for my wife, so that now our family has two registered accounts one to my wife and one to me. I was able to download the client with my wifes account so once it had been installed and updated I tried to access my registered account and it worked despite the suspended account message. Maybe it was overwhelmed at the time. So now we have two registered accounts. I hope that this is allowed.

I will not be bothering with the accounts that I set up previously when the booster packs were given away as the registered accounts seem much more promising. Though I'm still not in much of a mood for playing the game. I will pop in ocassionaly to keep an eye out for my nation and slowly attempt the quests so that I can build up a decent nation. I want to build the gold mine so that I can start saving for army units.

My latest nation is called Freetown. My wifes hasn't been set up yet. I'll have to think up a better name than freetown. (I'd just watched blood diamonds where there was a reference to freetown, lol....how original...

Thanks for all of the troubleshooting/comments, Whiterabbit/Stephen. I always appreciate your opinion on games.

I have a fast Internet connection, so the installer for Saga downloaded in about 9 minutes, so no problems there. I entered through the GGOTD link, and I did get the page that welcomed us. I looked for, but didn't find a readme file in the download, so I guess that is a generic instruction for all games, but didn't apply in this case. I did scan the manual for Saga.

I didn't get any messages about my video card, so I'm guessing my ATI is okay with the game, but when I entered the world, I had the "ocean" screen. I didn't think of altering the lighting, as a later post suggested. It probably would have fixed that problem. However, the game kept crashing on me; especially when I tried clicking on any of the flags in the upper right corner (which I understand would have taken me to areas like the trading area). I also got a message at one point (when I posted here in the comments for the game) telling me to enter my serial number when I tried to enter the trading area. So, I'm really not sure that the full game was unlocked. I didn't receive an e-mail from Saga with any serial number, and I am sure I entered my correct e-mail address.

After the game crashed four times, and I realized that it was going to "patch" and load up files on my computer every time I signed on, I decided to delete the download. I guess I still have my nation, and it was fun to create the flag and everything. But the download is off my computer. I assume that if I ever want to try again, the nation will be there, but I'm still not sure that I ever got the full version of the game, even though I registered through the page with the "welcome" to GGOTD members.

On the bright side, this has freshened my interest in playing Oblivion again, which is a great RPG game. I had tired of it, but now I'm off to play again. I'm not upset in any way, and I hope the game worked for those who really wanted to play it. I thought it would be neat to try a real-time community, but it's no big deal, and it was free. I didn't have to spend the day downloading, though, so I think that would have changed my outlook. I feel bad for those who did spend a lot of time downloading the game. My advice: Try Oblivion, if you just want a great RPG game that will allow you to play quests as a single player, without trading and things like that.

I looked the graphics and whatnot of the game, the controls are a little annoying but not to bad. like above.. i registered and according to the in game chat i am "trial" and on the site i am UNREGISTERED .. i emailed them asking what the problem was and am awaiting the response

I must reinstall Oblivion as well. I've not played either of the expansions despite haing bought them quite some time ago. I've still to get out of the palace dungeon lol. Unfortunately I have so many games I easily get distracted. Though in this case I lost all my progress previously due to upgrading my computers and didn't think to make a back up of my saves. I restarted the game a few months ago, but had to reformat my hard drive recently so lost all my progress yet again. It is a superb game though. I bought the online Lord of the Rings game recently (inspired by SAGA) and at the moment fancy playing that rather than SAGA. I've been invited into a fellowship by a forum friend (from forums elsewhere)and all I need to do is load up the game and create an account. The only down side is that you do have to pay a small monthly subscription for using the servers, but it's minimal and far less than buying a round of drinks for a few friends. (You do get some free time wen purhasing the client though, which costs just alittle more than the SAGA client.

The SAGA admins have been giving away free registrations for ages now. They were on offer over at filefront a month or so ago, now at fileplanet. It looks like they are trying to entice people into the fold. I wonder if booster packs will be given away again. ;) They did give some away prior to the original giveaway. I think there were three available, but that offer is no longer available.

Has anyone managed to earn any booster pack simly through earning gold in game and then exchanging that for boosters? I read that it was possible to do this rather than pay real money for them????

whiterabbit to answer your question yes with the fileplanet you get one free booster also in addition to the free registration it seems to have brought quite a few ppl into it . Remember only 2 accounts per game. Also to answer your other questiong yes i have traded resources for a booster pack , but also found to get my troops i wanted i used http://www.sagaunits.com which lets you buy the troops you want for cash through paypal :) Just thought i would update you all:) Pam

Yeah i know this is an old thread but hey i am still playing the game and wonder if any of you are? My nation name is still bluhoteyes brothel LOL and yes i am still nature on the order side but i am also on the undead side :) Lets do some quests together

good to see you still posting...

i did set up a nation...and update the software every couple weeks...but my pc hasn't been running well for quite a while...several years of heavy use (made worse by me : ( )...so...i haven't actually done anything with the nation, but i hope to when things are better here...

i also received an e-mail from Saga...everyone is getting a free booster?...

by the time i'm able to have Saga run often, i'll be more confused than usual...

in the meantime...i may have to report you, but i'm not exactly sure where...inviting someone to do a quest in a brothel...well............lol...

I've still got the game on my PC. I keep meaning to jump in, but I've been spending a lot of money on other games over the past few months so have been preoccupied. I do intend to play at some point though.

Actually they have been very good at giving free boosters over there if you have an account already and haven't been there i know you definately have a free booster as you said violet everyone got one . WR you don't really need money to get a good game going and they have a new system set up that after 3 days your game goes into inactive status so you don't come back to total chaos if you are the type to play occasionally . I am very happy they offered this game though here or i would have never found it. You can still get the free download and pretty soon they are going to be having ultra rare cards. Oh and WR i have seen several from the UK playing SAGA. They do a weekly patch and if things go haywire they do give a free booster to those that are logged in during that time:)

Well not sure if anyone is interested in this but for those of you that are still interested in SAGA i do want to comment . They are still going strong and i am still using my nation name bluhoteyes brothel and they are doing another promotion. This isn't as good as the one we received but in a way it is . You get a full account with about 50 dollars worth of units, but the units that come with it are bound to that account and can never be sold or traded which is the down part . I know there people from all over the world playing now even seen on the other day playing from Denmark so maybe the disance issue will be over come now Stephen for you. So if you do decide to come back it would be great as they have added some new units to the game including the do die for great dragon that is retailing for about 60 in US dollars. They are adding new content all the time and if you join now please use the link i provide below as i will get a free booster if you play and make it to level 10 :) lol Yes i always want more boosters. If you did by chance decide you didn't want to play I will take your unit and put them to good use LOL if you happened to get a registered full account:)

I keep thinking of checking in, especially when I get a newsletter, but with all the games I've been buying of late, I never seem to have the time. On average I'm buying a DVD based game every week at the moment, though recently I've been ordering shed loads (eg last week I ordered Civilization IV Complete, Fallout Collection, Need for Speed: Undercover, Dreamfall The longest Journey Collectors edition, Bioshock and ShawnWhite Snowboarding). I'm totally immersed in Fallout 3 at the moment and want to return to Oblivion once I've played the game out as I've not played any of the Knights of the Nine quests, nor have I visited the Shivering Islands, both of which are expansions to Oblivion.

I should try to play if only to have a few quests completed each week, at least then my city would grow. As it is I've not visited it since early summer. (I hope I can find my passwords, lol) Having lost so many quests to crashes especially ones that I'd co,mpleted, and only had to walk through the portal has left a bad taste in my mouth. I do find it diofficult returning to a game that I've had problems with; though I realize the SAGA team have made a lot of bug fixes since I last played. We shall see, though being only arounf level four or five I'm going to be very small indeed. what level do you stand at now?

I have been dipping into this & must admit starting to grow on me a little. Had another play tonight although by the time the patches downloaded, I've forgotten what I was going to play at first.

Just wanted to mention...

After the giveaway the other day I downloaded and made my account, but let it sit for a few days. I was a bit reluctant to get into it. Anywho, I went ahead and d/l the pdf instructions and read the 'beginners' one. It sounded like it might be kind of fun and the next day went on and made a nation. I have gotten on for an hour or two each day now and found that it is really fun. I have 3 farms, 4 houses, a gold mine, and am building a lumber mill now. I have been doing good at keeping my peasants happy and working through the 'brownze' quests. I honestly have NOT bought any booster packs and am working with only what was given away. If any of you want to get into it; I HIGHLY recommend reading the 'beginners' pdf that is offered at least. It is filled with a lot of knowledge and explains a lot. It is also written so that if you have never played a game like this you can understand the basics. Then if you want to continue after you get further along you can read the more detailed pdf files. *blush* I havent read them yet, but will once things get going more. Right now I am all about keeping the masses happy and bringing in the gold and wood to build what I need.

Definitely a big thumbs up from me!

P.S. SUGGESTION-> If you start to play. It is my opinion (wish) that I would have gotten the lumber mill then the gold mine. Seems on quests you get gold, but wood is hard to come by (I have had to buy at the market several times, at high cost I might add.).

Yes an old thread , but a rather great thread I might add . I have now been playing SAGA for over a year now . Thank you GAOTD for this awesome game that did have some issues, but the guys over at SAGA are very dedicated to this game. Whiterabbit if you still have your account I think now would be a great time to revive it and come join over there and give them a try. The battleservers that were once and issue have all been corrected. If you need some help the guides are great :) Yes i am a guide lol Anyhow i hope to see you there .

Hi Bluehoteyes,

Not seen you around for a while. Nice to see you. Yes I still have the game, though only the installer on disc as the original was on one of the discs I formatted. I've still got my account details so should be okay once it's installed, though I presume I will have lost the cards we were given. Cest la Vie. Do you play pvp with anyone and what's your level now?

I've been meaning to reinstall the game, but with all the games I've bought of late I never seem to have the chance. to be honest I don't get much time to play the games with all the forum hopping and other little projects I've taken on board. Still, I would like to see how this game has improved and will endevour to reinstall it once I return from vacation (I fly out to Florida via Chicago on Friday morning). I won't be completely absent from the forums because we have free net access in our rooms at the holiday inn, so I'm taking a laptop (suitably loaded with my favorite games) - I'll be stuck in the hotel room for a good part of the holiday because just one trip out will knock me out for three or four days. I'm definitely going to Cape Canaveral and Bushe Gardens as well as Discovery Cove, but will be giving Disney a miss.

Honestly Whiterabbit I wouldn't use a disk to install it just go to http://www.playsaga.com and download it from there and then get the updated patches. I myself am not much into pvp lol I am more your questing kind a gal :) I am at several different levels right now my first nation bluhoteyes brothel(nature) is now at level 35 and my undead nation is level 28. Your cards should still be there believe it or not:) too bad you didn't leave them sealed as they have added many new cards to the mix now. Awwwwwwwwwww too bad Disney is my favorite vacation spot in the world lol Have a great time in florida though and hope to see you in game at SAGA real soon:) Once you get over there I can let everyone that asks in on how to win a xbox 360 and the drawing will be June 1st so come find me in game :) *Hugs* take care and i sure hope the games return soon lol

I quit this game for a couple of reasons, and now am considering for coming back. The first is because the community....isn't really supportive. The second is because there is no "offline" play, and my online time is limited. Finally, the general learning curve is quite hard. Not necessarily the attacking part...which is simple, but how you home town works, setting up game play, and attacking other players.
As a side note, I just got an email offering all of this to me on my previous account. This saga game appears to be failing if they are trying that hard to get players.

Same here, name... I get emails all the time from the first time they gave it, but just don't have time to get into "online" playing. I tend to play games here and there, whenever I get a chance. But then, I never did give this one a try. Hope they generate some interest. Thanks for pulling the thread up again, wrabbit. :)

To be honest, there are far better games out there. At the moment for this weekend only you can get a state of the art strategy game called Empire: total War for around the same price as what you'd normally pay for the full client and then there's no need to earn resources to swap for more cards.

Apart from that I find the graphics very dated for a modern game. That said, the game is okay for free.

As I've said in my reviews, you do need time to play this game. I only played it for several days when it was first given away, but found my own strategy games far better. Great to see it back for those who never got a chance before. you're probably right about the developers being desparate. I've seen it being given away at other sites throughout the year since first seeing it.

I've revisited one of the cities I set up and even claimed the Ice thingamajig as well as they were offering that for five days post email (that offer no longer stands, unless you got the email a day later, in which case you may have a few hours left to claim it. :)

sorry name if you felt the game wasn't very supportive as I have had just the opposite welcome as you from day one. Also I want to say if you don't have time to learn about a game that is a shame and honestly WR there is no other game that even compares to this on the market as of yet. Also if i remember right you saying that you tried it for several days when it first came out WR isn't totally true cause you couldn't stay connected due to server issues which I know have since been resolved so don't think you can give an actual standpoint of the game. I kept your nation names you gave me in my friends list for months and even wrote you several mails which I believe only one was replied to saying you weren't able to play with the servers. If someone would like assistance in learning this game . I am a guide there now and I will help with any information you to learn about the game. I am there almost on a daily basis. If you want send me a email in the pigeon roost system order nations bluhoteyes brothel and brotherhood nations music. To answer your question from last week WR I am doing pretty good and happy you had a great vacation:) Also one more comment WR it is the marketing director that wants to make SAGA free to all is why you have seen so many advertisements and promotions for the game.
