Now WR you have gotten farther then me i only made it through level 2 where i beat the heck out of some Orks and demolished their city:) lol I noticed when i didn't go through the city totally and killed off their farms, university, roost, and idols that it gave me more treasure boxes of i got 3 different items from that war alone. Ty for the tutorial i am going to get on this game again on monday and do some reading from your links to get a better sense of how this game is played .. Also i wrote everyones name down and will be adding them tonight b4 i head to bed hope no one minds me adding them:) OH one more thing WR i think i might know why your 3rd account isn't working i think i remember reading in their tutorial that without the paid account you can only run 2 nations

Memberhey- i'm pretty sure that there is a limit of 2 nations per person, regardless of whether it's a paid or free account. if you have several people in the same household, the folks at saga suggest you e-mail them and explain.
i haven't had time to go and lose some more troops(lol!), but i hope to get back in there soon. i don't mind anyone here in this forum adding me as a saga ally.

MemberHi everyone, another GAOTD noobie to Saga but I wanted to clear up some things I see posted here.
You may have as many as 5 _nations_ per account. Only 1 nation is active per account (meaning it generates wood, gold, etc over time). You may have a maximum of 2 _accounts_ per person. If you want more than 2 accounts (like Whiterabbit's 2 kids) you need to email support@playsaga.com and let them know or you risk being banned.
You can have peasants working on any task, just without the appropriate support structure they'll make less than maximum production. For example, you can assign as many as you want to lumber mills but you'll have some loss of efficiency. Once you build a lumber mill you can have up to 5 working at 100% and everyone past that will be lower.
I have 2 nations I play, Magus and Barbulus. Go ahead and add me to friends, I'll be adding names to my list. I think I'm going to pay for the game and have the full version of Magus.
Oh, if you want to improve your units you can buy individual cards from http://www.sagaunits.com (again, you need the full version to receive cards) so I am buying a couple of my common troops (the commons are like $0.10 each so I get 10 for a buck, that's worth while). You don't need to spend money to buy cards or packs but I just want some stone golems to have as my main units. Worth it in my opinion.

Memberbluhoteyes: To open your booster packs you need to log into the web page (www.playsaga.com) and click on the 'Saga Store' link, there will be your free boosters for you to open.
Edit: When you lose troops in game they are either wounded or killed. Wounded troops are automatically replaced between battles, killed troops need to be ressurected at your temple. It costs a few "God points" to ressurect troops depending on their level, then you re-add them to your unit. Steep learning curve but once you get past it the game is pretty fun.

MemberTy malekish i do appreciate the help there now how the heck did i end up with no houses , 2 farms (as you can see eating is important to me) lol and 34 peasants i was shocked when i seen how many i had when i did check on them and they increased by 4 more after i put there butts to work and taxed em and they still don't have any housing i need to figure out how to get more gold so i can build . I did make it past the level b4 you get to the mill to take back the lumber them thieves have been havesting on my land:) I have liked it so far but think the tutorial should have been more detailed on how to move your troops even had one rude one on help when i asked that question considering this is the first online game i have played since diablo was released what 12 yrs ago now? Anyhow i am having fun so far and ty on letting me know where to get my booster packs as i did learn how to resurrect my men in the graveyard as i had my favor up to 2000 which is back up there after doing the capturing of the farm and tower was wondering why i didn't get to go to the mill on that quest would have loved to get more wood to do some building too:) lol

Games GuruGlad you sorted out the booster packs bluhoteyes. Sorry I've not been around over the last few days. I've just not had time to play so am still hovering arounf the level 4 mark. Also I'm still having trouble connecting a lot of the time. My personal account I've not been able to access since the day I created it last Sunday, though my daughters seems to be okay.
Has anyone sussed out when the best time to log on is yet. I'm wondering whether the inability to log on is because the servers may be full?
I'm after building a store house next, but still need a lot of wood before I get there.

MemberFavor is max 2000 (at least at our low levels, might be higher later) so if you're at/near the limit don't have people worshiping.
Gold is (relatively) easy to get from just doing missions, wood is needed to build farms, houses etc. Set several of your peasants cutting down logs. Housing is needed for morale, if your peasants don't have houses to live in they'll become unhappy and eventually leave.
What I've figured out (currently level 8 and 9) is you need some for gold production (just to limit how much you lose per day, missions keep you positive easily enough). Have enough farming so you're at bare minimum break even, preferably positive on food. Only have people building if you're currently building something, once it's built move them elsewhere more productive.
Priorities:
Food
Wood
Gold
Building and/or Worship as needed
StoneYou need very little stone early levels, 10+ you will need more but don't worry about that until then, you'll get all you need from missions.
Whiterabbit: Sorry to hear about your connection and crashing problems, it's been flawless for me, send in the crash reports?

What gets me is that I downloaded and installed this game the same way I've done every game offered here at GGOTD and I never saw any other way to do it or any "proper link on the giveawayoftheday website". What other link was there? What did I miss? I don't get it. So now I have to pay, to the tune of $20.64, to get what others got for free. It just doesn't seem right. I know they could do "something" to give the missing 7 booster packs to me and others who weren't able to get them. One of the reasons I had so much trouble in the beginning was because they never bothered to tell you how many characters you could use in your password and I ended up using just 1 too many. It accepted my account but when I tried to login I couldn't and it took me several hours just to figure out why. Being there was a time crunch I set up a whole second account just to get in. UGH!
Okay......I've vented.....now I feel a bit better.....but only a BIT!

Up at the description it tells a link to go to in order to get the 10 free booster packs. The game download itself was not really anything more than what you can get at the Saga site for free already. I think it was a little confusing. The giveaway of the day download should have been the booster packs, with a link to get the game free at the Saga web site.
I created TWO accounts, and I may never even use ONE of them. Might you be interested in one of them for yourself? I could send you the name of one membership, along with the password. You could go in and take it over, and you would then have the ten booster packs at no cost. Interested?

You just never know which posts are going to be the important ones. In fact I was hurrying that day and I didn't even read all of Whiterabbit's and some of the others that I generally read thoroughly :). I guess I also missed the instructions right at the top. That's what I get for being in a rush. Oh well. Thank you so much for the generous offer. This is the second time someone has offered me an "extra" account. Games GuruI've not played it for nearly 2 weeks, but that's partly because nearly evertime I log on the server is busy. My first account has been inacessible since the first weekend when the game was given away. the other two accounts in my childrens names are both at level 4. I like the game, but have been put off by the regular inability to log on and several times when finishing a battle the game has crashed before I've reached the portal; so I'm a little put off. I was intending to buy the client, but I'm having second thoughts now. I've just bought Lord of the Rings: Shadow of Amgmar, which cost me $30 and looks to be much more interesting. An online friend has been playing it for a few months and has invited me to join his fellowship, which I'm thinking of doing. I've not played online much since my accident back in Sept 05; partly I was put off by the vconstant hacking and cheaters that invaded the servers I played on. A group of like minded fellows set up a boxed server so that we could play to our hearts content free of the cheaters, but only myself and one other actually were willing to pay for the server so we eventually shut it down.
I was hoping that SAGA would be a good restart. Still, I'll keep trying in between all the new games I've bought over the past few months.
Bluehoteyes, do the lumber challenge. It's worth it just for the lumber. I did all three modes bronze, silver and gold, but I never got the lumber for the gold level due to the game crashing. :(

Wabbit...nearly evertime I log on the server is busy I've had that happen too but I immediatly try again and it usually works. Only once have I had to try like 3-4 times before I got in.

Games GuruHi Buckleysmom - I wont give up on it yet seeing as there are a few here that are obviously interested in playing the game. I do try more than once to log on. I'm just wondering where the servers for this game are located. There is a possibility that my ping is large which could affect the log in, but generally when I've played games with a high ping the problem that has arisen is lag and not being able to log on.
Has anyone else lost their progress during a quest where you've just about finished and just as you're about to march to the portal you lose the connection? It could even be my provider, or the wireless connection I use.
I've been getting some weird things happening since I upgraded my wireless router from a G to an N rating (just gives wider coverage around the home) for example I'm constantly being routed to a patio site even though the address in the address bar still says giveaway of the day. I have to re boot my modem and router, then it's okay. It doesn't happen with any other site though. I'm tempted to purge all my computers and start afresh, but there are several applications and quite a lot of games that I don't want to purchase just yet but don't want to lose them either. I've been prioritizing the purchase of applications as there are quite a few I want to buy such as EAZ-FIX, PREVX, Mamutu, Folder Marker and Returnil to name just a few. I have so many purchased games that I couldn't justify buying many that have been offered on the giveaway project, unless they are really good (such as Treasures of Montezuma and possibly SAGA) I've filled up a 500G hard drive with games which is ridiculous as I just don't have the time to play all of them. (Though sometimes I get great pleasure out of just skimming through several games just to unwind - I did that earlier and stumbled upon one of the games I bought when I fist started buying a lot of arcade games to help with distracting me from the pain I get. I remember hardly playing it when I first bought it but today discovered that it was actually a really cool game called Jewels of Cleopatra. It's on the lines of Age of Japan, but with a slight difference where you have to create a path through the tiles for an archeologist to get from A to B. You can check out the demo from Reflexive:

Memberi actually was going to go try the lumber mill here in a few minutes heck i ain't done any of the silver or gold challenges as i been just doing bronze till i get the hang of the game a little better;) lol I know i would be interested in that game you just mentioned Stephen and might just have to give it a try :) I have not had any connection problems with SAGA though with the exception of once that is when i hadn't been there for ages and they had a new update it took me to the tutorial for the first round but then it regained my progress immediately after i beat that level i was hoping i would be able to do tutorial 2 so i could have gotten all that good stuff from capturing the buildings instead of destroying them

I was playing a light nation with a white dragon and 3(gasp)paladins, didn't last long though, it just wasn't strong enough. So I switched to War and started again, this time capturing everything for the free peasants. I use a red dragon and a juggernaut now, with full units of spear throwers, archers, light infantry and pike men. The dragon breath and the Juggernaut's dread make a potent combo, while the infantry and spear men work well against ranged units.
I'm trying to get registered so I can trade the other stuff, including some damn good spells and a....big turtle thing, raven riders and the like.
