Yesterday we noticed one was a tom.. and ironically this was actually taken on Thanksgiving day as we sat eating turkey at the dining room table! We counted 14 of them! Lately there have only been 6, maybe there were 2 toms and the tribe split up?

It depends on their mating season:
"When mating season arrives, anywhere from February to April, courtship usually begins while turkeys are still flocked together in wintering areas. After mating, the hens begin searching for a nest site and laying eggs. In most areas, nests can be found in a shallow dirt depression, surrounded by moderately woody vegetation that conceals the nest."

Interesting! Obviously we're in the beginning of their mating season. All I can say is if anyone tries shooting one of them, all the neighbors will shoot the shooter!!!

Mornin everyone.....I got up late today. This #7 has me stumped, I was gonna say lollipop sticks but that doesn't fit half the clues. It's driving me up the wall.
Nice turkeys. A couple years ago we had a bunch that came and sat on the birdfeeder hubby built on our back deck, there were 4 of those huge ladies sitting on it all at once and we thought it was going to break. I'll have to dig out my pictures and post them. Still gotta get Buckley up there too so you guys can see my baby.
Maizey, hows the tooth? Did it give you much trouble last night or were you too loopy to notice? :)
Gotta go d'l the game.....it's sudoku......I LOVE SUDOKU!!!!!!

Buckleysmom - Tooth's good today. Throbbed last night, but fell to sleep as soon as my head hit the pillow and woke up good as new. Thanks for asking. :)
You can upload your pics to http://www.divshare.com/ or http://photobucket.com/. They are free and you get plenty of storage.

Car fuse? (though it doesn't look like any car fuse I have ever seen)
Posted 16 years ago # -
Thanks Maizey, I have pics at Ringo and Shutterfly but neither has been quite what I want. Hubby mentioned one as well but can't think of the name right now as my alzheimers is kicking in today. I'll check them all out later. Have to shop for a new cellphone plan today too.

Ambrosia - Alright, YOU WON! And I thought this was going to difficult. >:D
They are called buss fuses and are found in many electrical appliances/components, in addition to in vehicles.==================================================

Sorry I took so long to respond. I had an appointment.Posted 16 years ago # -
actually buss is the brand, and now I'm disgusted with myself. most techs call them 1/4" fuses. some 'AG' or '3ag' as there are variants- agc, agm...
As far as I know no car since before 1995 uses 'em. Certainly not 2 amp fast-blow, even car radios used 5 amp standard-blow fuses.
Most likely place to find those is a stereo amplifier on the ac-in or the transformer secondaries. Or *lots* of arcade video games. grr.

Wow! I never would have thought I was looking at something clear. Just shows you how decieving a picture can be. That sure was a tuff one, Maizey. Got any more? Hey when you post the answer could you also repost the original pic? I had to page back to find it again so I could compare.
The kittens were so cute, and funny, love the whistler, but I couldn't hear anything from the kitten on the left. Loved the little tongue sticking out at the end. :P

goodgotd - I really thought you'd be the one to get the fuses. I used these when I worked making light bulbs. Sometimes something would short-out an electrical device on a machine. After clearing the cause, I would have to first find the correct panel, then locate the blown fuse to replace it. They liked to keep the amps low so as not to fry more expensive components. Some people had so much trouble blowing fuses that they would put a higher amp in (like a 10 amp), then it would really fry stuff in the panel. This caused a lot of grief for the electricians. It got to the point, the parts room would only issue fuses above 2 amps to electricians.

Buckleysmom - You really like this game! Let me think about it. I might be able to do another. :)============================================================
Everybody: If I do another, do you think I should start a new topic instead of making this one get so long? I seems to be getting a bit confusing. Maybe the topic would be "What Is It? Game #8". Then I could put the rules/concept in the first post along with the link to the closeup. Let me know what you think.

sounds sensible making new thread- the shading artifacts made it look like a solid surface, sorry. One of the reasons I didn't like the floppy based cameras was not being able to set low compression- my C200 each photo runs 5-600kb.
Posted 16 years ago # -
Mazie what do you have against a long thread ? Like I know us, we will very soon be chatting the new thread loooong again - so, let us in our good old chaos manner go on with this one.
mazie, you are really precioussss...Posted 16 years ago # -
Thanks, Maizeydaze! That was awesome! :-)

Good grief ... a FUSE! Who would have thunk? Not I, that's for dang sure! Yes, keep this one going, like graylox said, new one would be just as long.
Oh...... called about that hebrew keyboard I ordered last night and cancelled it. Found out it was ONLY for Gateway laptops and I don't have a Gateway and don't have a laptop, (have a Dell desk) .. so can't use it... just got off the phone with her. But, I did go online and found templates for keyboards with the Hebrew lettering on it, so no need for an actual keyboard.. duh!
Another thing.. yesterday I finally got my replacement 320 GB hard drive that I sent back to Western Digital, hooked it up, after vacuuming and blowing out the tower, and it didn't show as being there! Another DUH.. called Western Digital tech support earlier and it had to be 'initialized' which he told me how to do, and voila, I'm back in business again! So, I've been a tad busy today.Posted 16 years ago # -
sorry about not being clearer on that; this is a 1999 solo 2550 model laptop, which ended up being the reason for the brutally practical but not at all pretty display fix- would have taken buying a whole laptop (with the same hidden weakness) to do otherwise- but the keyboards were cheap.
hadn't thought of an overlay...

Ambrosia - You are welcome!
There are a few other cute things on the Bank West site. I can't seem to link to them. But after you watch the kittens singing a menu pops up. Click on "home". From the home page click "Research" and select one of the interviews. After you watch any one a menu will pop up where you can select another one.
---------------------------------------------
goodgotd - Making the closeups look like something other than what they are is part of the fun. That's when we get some inventive guesses.
---------------------------------------------
Because you all like the game, I'll post another one on this same thread.

Just got back from watching Am Idol and Lost.....2 of my favorites.
Oh goody....#8
Well......it kinda looks like what you see when you open my frig. I know.....that's not it.Posted 16 years ago # -
...there is a bomb ticking for the last 43 seconds, the hero comes in, his right hand is wounded, the left heavily shaky ( the last night was very hard ), the cigarette in his left dropping corner of his mouth is nearly burnt out, his eyes are red and his sight is blurred ( you know, the last night was really, really hard ), he recognizes the situation, starts digging in the pockets of his trench coat, finds the hip flask he was looking for, tries to open the screw cap with his teeth, holding the flask in his shaky left hand, fizzles the cap in a wide curve into the left corner of the scene, takes a mouthful of the revitalizing substance, a deep-drawn sigh echoes through the room, - and than - will our hero find the right wire to cut through? is it the red one or the green one? will he get the price for this riddle? will I be a millionaire? TO BE CONTINUED NEXT WEEK
Posted 16 years ago # -
graylox- you crack me up!
maizey- thanks again for this great game.
this looks like another hard one.Posted 16 years ago # -
will our hero find the right wire to cut through?
Of course he will! The new series does not start until September and he must appear in a new episode each week until then.is it the red one or the green one?
He reaches into his inside breast pocket to retrieve his trusty manual. Ahhh! There it is on page 1147.will he get the prize for this riddle?
He was told that he won, but he never received the PRIZE.will I be a millionaire?
Better check your email. I think someone from Nigeria has an enticing offer!Posted 16 years ago # -
Anyone want to guess when Maizey's thread beats out all other GAOTD threads? It's rapidly catching up to the Magic Farm thread and should have a longer shelf life.
I don't usually play guessing games, but #8 is too easy... it's any female's cluttered bathroom sink counter.
Posted 16 years ago # -
RM - Good try, but Nooooo! Are you insinuating that all females are so vain that they must have a clutter of beauty product? LOL! That could make for an interesting picture though.
Posted 16 years ago # -
No maizey, not vain, just territorial and a wee bit disordered... like a nuclear explosion can make a landscape a wee bit disordered. It must be in the genes... we guys perpetually leave socks on the floor and miss the toilet, you gals leave an entire drug store on the sink counter and drape your socks on shower curtain rods like Spanish Moss on a Florida oak tree.

looks like some kind of plastic thingy...
Posted 16 years ago # -
jinkazma - Yeah, it's a "plastic thingy", but you'll have to just a little bit more specific. Good luck!
Posted 16 years ago # -
Good morning all.. gee, I slept in too late!
buckleysmom.. ever since you said it looks like the inside of your refrigerator (and mine as well), I can't think of anything else!
Are they zip lock bags with things in the freezer?Posted 16 years ago # -
You guys are too funny!
RM....my bathroom sink looks NOTHING like that.
Ok...it looks like the rack at Walmarts pharmacy where all the bags hang holding prescriptions that are ready to be picked up.
I know.........that's not it
Gonna go check out Elf
Posted 16 years ago # -
copmom....I know......that's all I keep thinking. I even tried crossing my eyes to look at it.....still looks like my frig.
The silver looking thingy on the left in the foreground looks like the clip on the clothing hangers at the store. (Not trying to push Walmart - honest)
OK Maizey, how bout a clue here?
