goody those yard sculptures are really great. did you make them ?
I love them.Posted 16 years ago # -
sorry, no- those (and most of the flowers) are in he yard of the folks across the street, and they state the provenance is 'garage sale'. my artistic efforts back in the 80's generally ran much smaller and (around county fair time) ran to roach clips. Trinity county, california.

good.. do you recall where you saw:
"funny, earlier I spotted an adapter to plug an xD card into a smartmedia slot, and one to put a smartmedia card in a 3.5" floppy. strange." ???I'm trying to find a multi media card "adapter" .. NOT a card reader, but an adapter that can convert from SM to SD cards and vice versa.
Posted 16 years ago # -
Ebay >Cameras & Photo >Memory Card Adapters & Readers >For SmartMedia.
the SmartMedia to floppy adapter I thought might extend the use of that Mavica.
The xD card to SmartMedia slot adapter sticks out of the SmartMedia slot, then has a place to plug in an xD card. like... here.
Speaking as one who has a spare of each to hand, well, looking at an adapter to stuff one card into the other's slot, ignoring the interface differences... (SmartMedia, like xD, barely has one) these images should show the problem.
http://img259.imageshack.us/my.php?image=smsd03pn9.jpg
http://img247.imageshack.us/my.php?image=smsd04hl9.jpgSecure Digital is roughly 2/3 the length & width of SmartMedia, and 3 times as thick.
(Ok, 32 × 24 × 2.1 mm versus 45mm x 37mm x 0.76mm)
SmartMedia is 0.76mm thick.
The closest to that in other formats is MicroSD at 1.0 mm. (11 × 15 × 1 mm)
SD, MiniSD and MicroSD to CompactFlash, yes.
MicroSD to Memory Stick Pro Duo, yes.I don't think it's likely at all to be able to find MicroSD to SmartMedia. or SM to SD, either.

weeel, since no reply I musta slid into librarian mode a mite far, but really was thinking a retrofit to xD for cost reasons or more capacity or just looking for a more compact format, even getting both smaller types isn't that hard... I can't use one on the Ricoh as the camera locks up over 16 megs.
That was the thought train.
OTOH, note I now need 3 types. Oops.
Then again, when a 'roll' of film runs to 350 shots easy, how many you need? personally it's the 21 and out that are treated like gold. better than a buck a meg.
gee, they even have the adapter.

goodgotd.. found something today at WalMart! Was talking to the guy in electronics, (yes, for once they had someone that knew something there), and I got a gadget (he said if it doesn't work, can bring back within 30 days). $20.. says 21-in-1 Digital Card Reader/Writer. Works with 21 memory cards and has a USB cable with it. He said to possibly try to put the SM card in this, use the USB to plug into the printer I'm getting and see if this works! First gotta check to see if the printer has a USB port, won't be delivered here 'til Monday. Will let you know!
By the way, the link you gave shows the 128 mb card for $67 and I got it for $52.95.
Addendum.. just checked the model I've ordered and it seems to have a USB port .. it's mentioned in the specs.Something else I've been noticing, this says USB 2.0 and I've also been seeing USB 1?
Is that something new I need to watch out for?? I've got no idea what the differences are on that.Posted 16 years ago # -
usb 2.0 (up to 480 mbits/s) can fall back to usb 1.1 speeds (2 or 12 mbits/s) either direction, but if tou have a usb 2.0 port, try to get a 2.0 reader, usually lots faster.
says 21-in-1 Digital Card Reader/Writer.
just checked the model I've ordered and it seems to have a USB por
but does it have a port for connecting external things like cameras as removable drives or just pictbridge mode? or is it in from the computer?
the readers like that work great for me.
what model printer?
By the way, the link you gave shows the 128 mb card for $67 and I got it for $52.95.
huh? $23.00 Delivered
Olympus 128mb xD
Picture Card

Okay, you two (Goody & Copmom)! Shall we get back to looking at snippets of pictures and figuring out what they are? Have a gander at MD-What Is It? #38. Well, do you know what it is??? :)

Pile of clothing buttons?
Posted 16 years ago # -
scuba, why do I bother? Yes, that's what it is! I'm going to have to figure out how to make these thing less recognizable. :)
A while back I posted the game Shuffle. Well, now there is a sequel. Your prize is Shuffle Snake Bites!

Let's try this again. Maybe scuba is sleeping! Shhhh! :D

good: here's the printer... http://www.starsurplus.com/viewitem.lasso?i=Q5863AR
It's the one I said I can do negatives on. But it doesn't take a smart media card.. so there. Yes, I can just load to the computer from the card, but it's become a challenge to me I guess to MAKE the printer take the SM card! Now that you've asked, I don't know if the USB port is just to connect to computer, DUH! If that's the case I'll return my 'gadget' to WalMart! Already have a card reader.#39.. is that a manual can opener??

Connectivity, std.
1 USB Full Speed, 1 Ethernet, 1 PictBridge
Connectivity, opt.
HP bt300 Wireless Printer Adapter or HP bt450 Bluetooth Wireless Printer and PC AdapterFrom what I can gather from the specifications on the HP site. The USB port is for connecting it to your PC. The wireless connectivity is an option and would require the HP bt450 Bluetooth Wireless Printer and PC Adapter (Q6398A).
-----------EDIT------------------
copmom, no that's not it for #39.

you can cheat like me and check the product page at hp. downloadable manuals even.
manual says
Connect a storage device
You can connect a storage device such as a keychain drive, portable hard drive, or a
digital camera in storage mode to the front USB port on your HP All-in-One. The front
USB port is located underneath the memory card slots:
Note Digital cameras that are in storage mode can be attached to the front
USB port. The HP All-in-One treats cameras in this mode as a normal storage
device. Digital cameras in storage mode are referred to as storage devices
throughout this section. If your camera supports PictBridge, see Connect a
digital camera.
Check your camera documentation to verify how to change the USB mode to
storage mode. Different cameras use different terms to describe the storage
mode. For instance, some cameras have a digital camera setting and a disk
drive setting. In this instance, the disk drive setting is the storage mode
setting.
Once you have connected the storage device, you can do the following with the files
stored on your storage device:
● Transfer the files to your computer
● View photos and videos
● Edit photos and videos using the control panel
● Print photos on your HP All-in-One
● Send photos and videos to your friends and familyso it's wait-n-plug, as those readers (get a single-card usb sm reader? like the top one here?) appear as 4 drives. and I hate pdf.
maizey, looks like a folding camp or photo support item, could be anything from a tripod to a stove stand. tripod?
--edit-
from the ad specs the wireless module's in.Posted 16 years ago # -
goody, not any type of tripod, stand or support item.
Posted 16 years ago # -
the widget from the infernal eternal below?
Posted 16 years ago # -
I have a folding camp saw looks about like that.
but then it's probably tiny and is a gear puller for a spy camera.
Posted 16 years ago # -
goody, not a camp saw and not really what I would consider tiny. Each of those "hinges" are a little less than 1/2" wide, when folded. This thing is common.
Posted 16 years ago # -
common in your neck of the woods... how many items in the photo? Or is all that interconnected?
Posted 16 years ago # -
Hi everyone!
#39 looks like the hinge thingy that supports/moves the foot rest on our recliner, except ours is black. Or is it some sort of adjustable wrench?
------edit------
Or a lift of some sort?Posted 16 years ago # -
Buckleysmom, nope, I don't have a recliner and it's not a workshop tool of any kind. It's much more common and quite useful at times.
__________EDIT___________
Not a lift either.RE-EDIT________________
goody, what you see is all part of one item.____RE-RE_EDIT____________
These pieces are not connected to each other but to another part not shown.Posted 16 years ago # -
A folding ladder?
Posted 16 years ago # -
Buckleysmom, not a ladder. It's quite a bit smaller than that.
__________EDIT_______________
You can easily carry it with one hand.Posted 16 years ago # -
@ MZ # 39 well I have slept quite a long time, but now I'm awake enough to recognize this as a tin opener

http://www.outdoorsmagic.com/news/images/failures.jpgPosted 16 years ago # -
Graylox, you are slipping! It's not a can opener. It's light enough to carry with one hand but not small enough to fit inside one hand.
Posted 16 years ago # -
but you can cut or crack something with it ?!?
Posted 16 years ago # -
#39.....just went back and re-read all your clues.....missed some before....now I've got it.......folding hydraulic legs on a very small spaceship.
Posted 16 years ago # -
Graylox, you might be able to use it to hit someone on the head in an emergency. But using it to hit or cut something is not its purpose.
Buckleymom, sorry...no spaceship here. You must think that I'm Graylox!

Is it something you'd generally see in a kitchen?
