Funky, my grandpa used to take me fishing at his friend's farm. The dairy farmer used to refer to his secondary product as cackleberries. They wuz chicken eggs.
Used in a sentence:
Which came first, the chicken or the cackleberry?

Aha! I knew it looked familiar. :)

I'll give you another one, unless funkymom or someone else wants to post one. I'll give you all little awhile to let me know.
Posted 16 years ago # -
naw, go ahead.
didja look over those cameras I posted to see if you'd suggest 'em as starters?
Posted 16 years ago # -
goodgotd - I did look at them. The Kodak 712 looks good. Not sure about the quality of the HP but for that price it seems descent. The Kodak probably has a better lens and definitely has better zoom. I think most of those little photo printers have ink thats good for so many prints, maybe 100. They sell ink and paper in packs to match.

For your visual pleasure, I now give you MD-What Is It? #16!

I'll be back! Going to try to get some sleep. May not be gone long...drank some coffee a little while ago. :)Posted 16 years ago # -
well, here's a page with a review and pic of my 'carry cam', a 1.0mp 1999 HP C200: http://www.mouthshut.com/readreview/13416-1.html
And... 37,000 photos later (really- I have 'em cataloged!) it's still doing fine despite rough use and only being able to 'see' half the 512 meg compactflash card that's in it. That limits it to 530 highest quality pics. <sob>
sooo.. I'd go HP myself without a second thought.
Here's my 'macro cam', a 1.3mp Ricoh RDC-4200 from 1998- the lack of a viewfinder and the bitty 16 meg smartmedia (never, ever get anything that uses it} cards make it near useless outdoors or past the yard.
http://www.dcresource.com/reviews/ricoh/ricoh-reviews/rdc4200.html
Which, along with horrible shutter lag, is why gary retired it and sent it to me. also the reason for my aversion to no-viewfinder cameras.
and if I can figure out how to swing it, I *want* that HP M517.
Just 2 AA batteries that can charge in-camera, viewfinder that zooms 3x along with the optical zoom (digital zoom is worthless), 2.1 watt drain with the display *on*, macro to 5", ISO 400... and I have a spare 1 gig nultimedia card.

electric stove element?
Posted 16 years ago # -
Well, I didn't say that I disliked HP. My PC, printer and scanner are HP. Last 3 PCs have been HP. I really liked that the Kodak has 12X optical zoom. In the reviews at Amazon people complain about battery life. But, most new digitals are hard on batteries. This review sums it up: http://www.amazon.com/review/RWT1T8E6U1MR3/ref=cm_cr_rdp_perm
Not a stove element. No electricity required.

Regarding the 712- as gary found in practice and emphasized to me, above 4x zoom, better have it on a tripod and be real careful pushing the shutter button. at least it has an electronic viewfinder, but it's 2.5x the price.
a closer comparison is the Kodak C643 6.1MP 3x Optical/5x Digital Zoom Camera at http://www.geeks.com/details.asp?invtid=C643-R&cat=CAM which is a 6mp cam for the same outlay, but I saw in some reviews implications that the storage on the memory cards isn't 'standard' FAT filesystem- and I use a card reader both at home and on the road.
if you're willing to take the chance that only the kodak software will transfer the images, it's a better deal in some ways, but note that it doesn't come with an ac adapter.

hmmm. this isn't food, though.
Posted 16 years ago # -
With the Kodak, you'd probably have to get one of the proprietary batteries and a charger for $$$! Image stabilization helps to some degree for use without a tripod. You'd be amazed at how you can shake these new IS cameras and still get a viewable shot.
Not food. There are 3 separate objects in this picture.

ok, gas stove/grille? nuts, posted that b4 the 3 object post.

Good Morning, Copmom. No, it's not a wrench or pliers but they are metal.

For doing such a good job you're getting a bowl of soup.Posted 16 years ago # -
I opened the 2 pics together and the 2nd (new) pic shows just a little bit more than the 1st one. So the 2nd pic is bigger, but not by much.

I know, I know : that are the teeth of that nice guy in that James Bond movie, where they are flying in a space-station. You know that tall guy with that sweet little girly. I think in German he was called something like "iron-eater". The red color in the upper right corner of the pic, must be his paradontitis.
Posted 16 years ago # -
Thanks, looks tastey!! :)
Posted 16 years ago # -
HOSS - You're welcome...made it myself. You were right about just a little bit more of the picture but just enough to make it out.
graylox - You are very, very funny! I know the teeth you are describing. Nasty looking fellow!

Today, I made potato pancakes. Rather,I made the batter with grated raw potatoes, eggs, onion, flour, salt and pepper then hubby stood over the griddle for almost two hours flipping them. Several of our friends stopped by to watch NASCAR so we fed them all. I don't follow the races but they all get into it. We usually have company on race days. The pancakes were good and received rave reviews.
My father-in-law just called to say that PSB out of Pittsburgh is airing a program about the music of the 60's called My Generation. They are canvassing for money by selling CD's so they are showing more of that than the program itself.

I've got another closeup. The winner gets a fantastic prize!Posted 16 years ago # -

Hello all.. been spending my day mostly on the phone and researching all in one printers. So far am zeroing in on an HP C7280, but first I'm waiting to hear back from them as to whether my digital camera's 'card' will work in it! I have a Smart Media Card, 3.3 volt, and that might be a bit obsolete for these new photo printers! If not I can use my kodak card reader to just upload to the computer instead of loading to the printer.
MD#17.. blades on a push mower? Or tines of a fork? Or a glass cutter?
And re: above.. I was going to kid around and say they were George Washington's teeth, except his were made out of wood!
And guess what maizy.. I made potato pancakes too last night, small world! I like them with sour cream and hubby likes his with applesauce. But, I cheated, made them from a box!
Oh, sister told me today to stay away from Kodak easy share software. Said it totally took over her machine at work and even the tech had a major problem removing it!
And when you take your pictures maizy.. are you using a macro lens or zoom, or something like that to get such closeups? I have telephoto lenses and macro lenses I bought to use on my camera, and after trying them out once, they're still in the camera case! Too much time hooking them all up on the camera! But I must say, with my camera (it's an Olympus C4040), I've taken many pictures while riding in a moving car and they all came out great!
