Ok, I'm tapped out for the moment- btw, those sunset clouds I did take.
who's up next, while I'm looking for *really* evil examples?
<sinister snigger>

as an aside, the page says the camera's a DC-4U, but it's a Ricoh RDC-4200.
My other camera's a Hewlett-Packard C200.

Scuba....There ya go showin off again. What gets me is how, once you see the whole picture it's like (smack self on head) I should have known that! Now that my heads all black and blue I think I'll just watch for a while.
Good....Those were.....good. Next time though pleeeeeaaaaase number them as it's too confusing for us chowder heads (meaning myself - not all the other intelligent folks here) to keep straight. ok? Thanks

will do.
But now I have your measure, when I rejoin the fray I'm gonna try and *really* get tough and find some >wicked< examples...
BTW, I do name my full and sample pics with a 2 letter prefix, a 's' or 'f' so I know which is the clue vs the answer, then a non-repeated number. fileshack adds a suffix, but the numbers remain.
See, otherwise *I* get confused. <g>
I'd like maizeydaze to tell me how she gets the 'what is it' title with the url under it...
Oh. yeah, aren't those also called railroad lanterns?

Hi to all
Buckleysmom,I can help with the sore head,I'm also a medic first aid instructor, besides scuba. So put some ice on your head and stop doing the "I should have had a V8" routine.LoL!!
goodgotd,You won't believe this but I've been in the garage all day getting ready to assist the local fire dept. volunteer divers for night dive traning.Guess what we use to mark the exit point for the divers when they surface,as it is pitch black at the lake.I have 4 of these oil lamps,if there like mine they are on the small side, about half the size of a regular oil lamp, and I've been looking at them for most of the day.
I have also been taking pics.all over the place to use for the game, but now can't find the cable to D/L photo's to my comp.
Posted 16 years ago # -
that's exactly the ones.
still should have used a less obvious part, or at least chosen one a different color.
I take it your cam is one without a removable card or you don't have a reader? When I found out how hard on the batteries (and slow, jeeze) using the cable on the hp was, I got a cheap card reader and pitched the cable. Literally.
Posted 16 years ago # -
I agree.. you really do need to get a card reader.. I got me a Kodak one that takes 4 different size cards and really speeds uploading up! Of course that was after I bought a power cord for the camera, grrrrrr. My camera is an Olympus C4040 that I got several years ago, and I still love it! I need to go through my pictures and add something for guessing.. but first need to watch a tv program.. laters.

Scuba.....is THAT what I've been doing wrong? Geeeezz (smack) ouch! there I did it again.....I got stop that, what a dope (smack) oh man! Of all the habits to get into why'd I have to start that one? (smack).......think I'll go get that ice and borrow my brothers motorcycle helmet. Of course then I'll break my wrist or something.....UGH!
Hey I just got a HP "all in one" and it has slots for 4 different cards so now all I need is that new camera and I'll be good to go. If anyone has tips on a good buy I sure would appreciate hearing them.
Gotta cut it short tonight, hubby is sicker n a dog, he's coughing and throwin up and congested and feverish and......I know TMI. Anyway, hope to see you guys tomorrow, by then I'll need some good laughs. G-night!

i'm never around when there is a picture i can identify (the steel wool). oh well.
goodgotd- is that you? (on image shack) it's so cool to see someone who you've chatted with for a while, when you've only had your imagination to know what they look like. (i know it's a confusing sentence, but you get my drift)

Buckleysmom - How much are you willing to pay for a camera? I just did a ton of research in November before I bought my Canon A570 IS. I also bought a Sony Cybershot S650 7.2MP for my stepdaughter and helped a friend choose a Kodak Easyshare Z812IS 8.2MP for her husband for Christmas. Everyone, including myself, is pleased with their cameras.

goodgotd - I used this LINK from Bubby in his post about HTML markups to learn how to use tags in the forum. "Anchor" is the one you want to use to make links to other pages.Posted 16 years ago # -

funkymom- yeppers that's me- about 10 years ago. Maybe longer, but that's the last time I got the wife to take a picture of me.
Beard's much scragglier and mostly gray now, but otherwise much the same.
My bald spot's not gotten smaller, so the no-hair-on-top method's still in place.
maizeydaze, thanks, will look again, thought I had it but kept messing up.

spent some time gathering up some items to image tomorrow- didn't find all my targets, but got some that oughta be right fair tough to guess if I crop right, and a couple old enough to be tough nuts to crack indeed.
Dug out my halogen worklight so I can photobench 'em with lots of light to get good sharp pix with my 17" frame-and-focus screen. (the 'ricoh' pic in my album)
All of those are sweet cameras indeed, but personally I'd be happy as a clam with one of these: http://tinyurl.com/2ez23g Kodak Easyshare C653 6.1MP 3x Optical 5x Digital Zoom Camera, 80 clams plus 10 shipping, got a gig mmc card already not being used. optical viewfinder, optical zoom, anti-blur- plenty good enough.

Might want to take a gander at (and contribute to) the
Digital Camera Buying Tips thread, too.Posted 16 years ago # -
About the picture of goodgotd...I was going to suggest a new game but these photos may have, but not necessarily, messed it up. Here is my idea (Inspired by a post by Scubaguy):
1. One of us would create a new Photobucket account, using erroneous registration information and a "throw-away" email address.
2. The above person would then make the Photobucket account username and password available in the forum.
3. Each of us would then upload up to two pictures of ourselves.
Here's the RULES:
1. Our age in these pictures must be from age 16 to present.
2. Give your picture(s) a phony name and if you upload 2 pictures, they must have the same name and be hyphenated with 1 and 2. (i.e. I upload 2 pics of myself; Gretta-1 and Gretta-2)
4. Once we get the Photobucket account setup and start the new thread showing the username and password, we wait 1 week (7 days) to give everyone a chance to get their pictures in.
5. Then on the designated date/time, we begin the game of "Guess Who?".
6. A Guess from me would be posted something like this: "Scubaguy - Is Ezera-1 you?" Then Scubaguy would return with: "Maizeydaze - You've got to be joking! I told you I was good looking! Try again."
Let me know what you think! :-)

one note- it's a refurb, with a one year kodak direct warranty.
for some people that's a big negative- for me, neutral.
as far as the software- why bother, when one has a card reader?

copmom #2 for you to guess:
http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg264/copmom_photo/mom2.jpgPosted 16 years ago # -
Mornin everyone!
Thanks for all the tips/links about cameras, I'm going to check them all out.
Maizy....not really sure about price, maybe like $2-300? I love your game idea, sounds like it would be lots of fun. Maybe Good could post a picture of his wife??? You might be sorry though.....I know of people who've seen my picture and were never quite the same again. lol
Rough night, think hubby has the flu (for real - not just a bad cold that everyone calls the flu). Whatever it is I hope I don't get it.
Posted 16 years ago # -
copmom #2 - red & white coral, red dragon beta fish or Christmas cactus?
Posted 16 years ago # -
Buckleysmom Top of the mornin' ta ya! The thread that Runes started may grow quite large. You should be quite informed (or confused) soon!
Hope you don't get sick either. Everybody around here has been carrying the flu bug too. So far, I've dodged it.
Posted 16 years ago # -
Sowwy maizey.. all 3 guesses are wrong, but good tries!
Posted 16 years ago # -
Maizey.....Wow, you said a mouthful. I just "started" on Runes list and it's already helped tremendously. Hope I don't get to the confused stage - Lord knows, I'm that way enough as it is.
As for this flu thing, I'm getting worried, I keep getting moments of coughing spells and that's just how hubby started 2 days ago. Aaaaaaaaakkkk!
Copmom #2....is is some sort of flower or a humingbird feeder?
Posted 16 years ago # -
copmom #2 - Is the picture taken of another picture...like the swimming pool or it this from an original picture?
It looks like a flower to me too.
Posted 16 years ago # -
cockscomb
Posted 16 years ago # -
Buckleysmom. not a flower or hummingbird feeder, which reminds me, the guy at the feed store said yesterday that he's already seen some hummingbirds so better put out the feeders! And as for the flu thing.. I went through a good 3-1/2 weeks of a constant cough and stuffiness and spent a fortune on Tussin DM (store brands cheaper), and it's finally gone away, but NO fever.. just tired quite a bit. Hubby's a week behind me and he's still coughing. When we go to stores, we're using that antiseptic liquid hand cleaner when we leave and those mouth burning listerine tabs to kill germs! I think that's helped us in the past!
maizeydaze, nope, this time is not a picture of a picture. This is an actual picture I took. I'll give one hint.. not vegetable or mineral.
Boy, it sure is dark out today and pouring! They're predicting thunderstorms later, if so, must shut down and unplug. Don't want to lose another computer!

graylox - I was thinking cockcomb too, but couldn't think of the name...was going to call it "that jiggly red thing on a rooster".
