ha. it's a shotgun cleaning rope.
they make smaller similar things for portable rifle cleaning kits.
goodgotd..........ha....you got it, its really called a pullthrough, a wee weight at one end to enable it to drop down the barrel, the remainder gauze with copper brushes, bristles! nice one...and the full length of it looks like so http://www.divshare.com/download/4656244-a06
and the prize for the winner be it small, with a big link?
I've got a couple of swiss mil surplus .30 cal pullthrough kits for my kalishnikov variant since unlike the sks there's no cleaning rod holder.
at least they both eat the same ammo.
that one must be new or it'd look like a chimney sweep's broom!
Goody, that's what thew me off. The cleanliness of the thing. I thought of something to clean a gun barrel when I saw the bristles. But thought no...too clean.
goodgotd.....i only managed to get my hands on a kalishnikov once, and had to pay a guy to let me use it.....NOT in Ireland in case someone is watching?
i purchased that pullthrough last year for £60 which IS costly, but it works a dream, i use an old one first to clear the black powder dust, then oil and clean again before using the one in the picture, well spotted that it was new!
Paulga
It's sure clean!! If it was so costly, why use it at all? Wear it as a belt or one of our other suggestions! Use it to tie your newt up with!
Oregon is a pretty easy state- lots of class 3 arms about, full auto or suppressed (or both), nice place to be for having fun with guns.
Sounds like where we are .. seems someone is always blasting off/shooting around here.. and of course, that freaks the dogs out! The dogs can't stand shooting or thunder!
copmom......you know i like things clean......but its like car seats,we cover them to keep them clean, or boiling beetroot in a new pot? or when women buy a NEW knife WE men are not allowed to cut electric wire with it...that's not "wee men"...though if the wire was connected........maybe?
Paulga
Folks.......What is it?
in this case I am the one who really does NOT know?,......ok i do know four things about it, and will tell you later,......i need to know A LOT more,.......so get your thinking caps out.

I'm not sure I understand the way this "What is it"game works, but here goes.
The object looks like a religious medal, about the size of a dime.
You would wear it around your neck,You have intentionally or unintentionally covered the eyelet that you would place a chain through.
Not sure of what religion or the language.
Could be the size of a nickel?? Same here, looks like a religious medal, no clue on where it's from, can't read the words.
scubaguy
yes you got the gist of it, slightly different approach than before, where the person posting,....knew the answer to the question, ......you are quick to spot i hid the eylet where a chain would go through!....that was intentional,......just to make it appear coin like,i am sure the writing is latin,......its very unusual,....i have never come across one before, but they are in use,....in religion,...for HEAVY handed rituals?
Paulga
So who's heavy handed?? And before I forget, neat fox hunting picture!!
Scuba....I think you might be right about the "hidden eyelet", it looks like it's up there under the half dollar. Either way I have to agree with you and Copmom, looks like a religous medal/pendant type thing. I would have to guess that it's Catholic and probably Saint "Somebody".
Folks........yep....it IS...a MEDAL,.....DIME LIKE,....Catholic, yes but i would believe that other denominations would use it in a VERY.....desperate situation....VERY.....this is BIGTIME.....beyond belief,......horrific ?
Paulga
Oops...should have refreshed before I posted....UGH!
Paulga.....why do you say, "i would believe that other denominations would use it in a VERY.....desperate situation....VERY.....this is BIGTIME.....beyond belief,......horrific ?" ???? Now you got my attention.
Folks...........Yep its for OOOOOOhhhhhh, scary stuff thats its used,....like they made a film or two about this,.....even scares ME,.....oh in case i am giving you the impression that i am going to talk about religion,.....no i am not, as i know its not permitted on forum,.....so bear with me!
Paulga
OK.......so where has everybody gone?.........its ok.....come back! or are we checking the net or wiki?........duh

St. Benedict Medal: Front Side of Medal On the face of the medal is the image of St. Benedict.
In his right hand he holds aloft the Cross as the symbol of our salvation, also reminding us of the vast work of evangelizing and civilizing England and Europe carried out mainly by the Benedictine monks and nuns, especially from the sixth to the ninth/tenth centuries.
In Benedict's left hand is his Rule for Monks, which could well be summed up in the words of the Prologue exhorting us to "walk in God's ways, with the Gospel as our guide.
" On a pedestal to the right of St. Benedict is the poisoned cup, shattered when he made the Sign of the Cross over it. On a pedestal to the left is a raven about to carry away a loaf of poisoned bread that a jealous enemy had sent to St. Benedict.
Above the cup and the raven are the Latin words: CRUX S. PATRIS BENEDICTI (The Cross of Our Holy Father Benedict).
On the margin of the medal, encircling the figure of St. Benedict, are the Latin words: EIUS IN OBITU NOSTRO PRAESENTIA MUNIAMUR! (May we be strengthened by his presence in the hour of our death!). Benedictines have always regarded St. Benedict as a special patron of a happy death, He himself died in the chapel at Montecassino while standing with his arms raised up to heaven, and supported by the brethren, shortly after having received Holy Communion.
Below the figure of St. Benedict is a Latin inscription giving the origin and date of the Jubilee Medal: Abbey of Montecassino, 1880.
Reverse Side of Medal On the back of the medal, the Cross is dominant.
On the arms of the cross are the initial letters of a rhythmic Latin prayer: CRUX SACRA SIT MIHI LUX! NUNQUAM DRACO SIT MIHI DUX! (May the Holy Cross be my light! The dragon never be my guide!).
In the angles of the cross, the letters C S P B stand for CRUX SANCTI PATRIS BENEDICTI (The Cross of our holy father Benedict).
Above the Cross is the word PAX (Peace), which has been a Benedictine motto for centuries.
Around the margin of the back of the medal, the letters V R S N S M V -- S M Q L I V B are the initial letters, as mentioned before, of a Latin prayer of exorcism against Satan: VADE RETRO SATANA! NUNQUAM SUADE MIHI VANA! SUNT MALA QUAE LIBAS. IPSE VENENA BIBAS! (Begone, Satan! Tempt me not with your vanities! What you offer me is evil. Drink the poisoned cup yourself!).
maizeydaze........you got it!.........wonderwoman, yep thats it, the four things i knew about it were if f you wear or carry it,....you will not drown
you will not be poisoned
you will not burn
you will not be cursed
plus it is used in exorcism cases!

Paulga, thanks for the game! It was not hard to find that info at all.
I used to have a dog that I'd named "PAX" (peace). She was a Husky/German Shepard mix and lived 19 years. She was a very sweet dog.
maizeydaze.....that medal was given to me yesterday.....can not think why?....maybe something to do with the ghost in my house?
a dog named PAX,....well thats a first,.....perhaps he was fierce?
Did you get it from the priests next door?
What fierce? She was, if you read, sweet.
Maybe you need more sleep. ZZZZZZ :)
maizeydaze...........yep i missed the obvious,....SHE,.....and SWEET,...the PAX was what i tuned in to,......just like a donkey ( ass ) with a carrot?
