Well it was never actually about the original post - I wouldn't expect GOTD would redesign their site to change advertising arrangements over something that most consider tame. Still, I do respect the OPs right to say that it offends him/her. It doesn't offend me, or probably anyone else - but if somebody wishes to say seeing a bare midriff is offensive (my bare midriff probably IS offensive... maybe if I waxed... no lets not go there. I need to shake those memories of that waxing scene in "40 Year Old Virgin")
Still if somebody doesn't like it, and wants to say so in a polite manner, that is OK. If somebody registers in the forums just to shout them down and make them feel stupid that is not respecting their feelings. Often it's not what is said that is important, it's how you hold them around the neck and punch their nose in till they get your point.
Posting with the intent to start an online argument, or unprovoked posting with clear and obvious intent using a concealed diatribe of abuse to crush the dignity of another person - is an offence in this 'ere town. (I just hate filling out the paperwork - It should just be called "Being a jerk")
Just gotta be civil, and respect one another. Bein' able to cut someone else down to size doesn't give you a spine. Waiting for them to turn and walk away, and hitting them across the back of the head with a tree branch.... that takes a spine. Not that there is anything wrong with that, mind.
But I've been told that respecting one another is a good thing, especially if you cannot run faster than the other person - getting away in one piece might be a problem. I don't know how that applies to the internet. Maybe that's why there are so many brave people on the internet who can stand tall (on a chair) and attack someone, knowing they can hide in the cupboard under the stairs, and nobody will probably ever come looking in there for them.
