I found the add on the homepage of a diet which featured a woman holding her pants outward offensive and ask that it be removed permanently from the site.
I propose that it be replaced by clean text adds if it is at all possible.

First, learn to spell so you'll know that ad is the abbreviation for advertisement while add is a math term.
Second, look up the meaning of the saying - a picture is worth a thousand words.
If you're that much of an uptight overly sensitive prude, my recommendations are:
stay off the Internet,
never watch television or read magazines,
avert your eyeballs from billboards,
never ever visit a beach or swimming pool or health club,
cloister yourself in a monestary with other uptight prudes,
go work for the Federal Communications Commission. They're always looking to hire the most closeminded totalitarian prudes as censors and rulemakers.
Next, smarten up. Diet sites just prey on people who never learn that portion control and exercise are the only cures to weight gain.
Finally, learn what should be posted on a game forum.
Apparently the censors who lurk here decreed that my helpful reply to your poorly worded complaint was itself inappropriate, yet decided it was perfectly okay to leave your totally inappropriate and prudish message intact. The world has definitely turned upside down.
May I suggest the use of an adblocker?
huh? what ad? where? Firefox & NoScript here.
What is offending "pants"? - What about weapons, shooters and self-styled guardians of public morals ?
If it is crucial, I am a woman.
graylox
graylox.. you are a woman? I thought you were a guy??
I found the add on the homepage of a diet which featured a woman holding her pants outward offensive and ask that it be removed permanently from the site.
What part was offensive? The fact that some bloated hog lost enough pounds to show off her old pants? ...or was the offensive part more along the lines of the ad could be taken like "HA! Be like me.. or your fat! MUHAHAHHAA!".
I'll tell you what's offensive to me... Someone trying to impose censorship where it's not needed because of their own misguided values. I keep the whole subject to myself because in the land of the free, we have to put up with others who have the right to think and say any way they want... no matter how idiotic we think their way of thinking is.
sorry copmom, can't answer, would be too offending...
Support the Blue Ribbon Online Free Speech Campaign
@graylox: Too offending?? LOL I am woman, let me roar!!!!!! etc. etc. And from that ad description I would take it to mean she's showing how much larger her pants are not that she's on a diet!! Wish I could say that!
@Rune.. did you hit enter before you typed anything??
graylox, in some primitive cultures, an exposed belly button can justify a beheading or stoning. We really don't need primitive extremists plying their wares on a game forum, do we?
Hi, copmom... very disappointing to see that the guys behind the curtain are purging my post with a link to the FREE SPEECH site - http://www.eff.org/br/
Hmmm, now it's back. What IS going on?
Honestly, Rune, when I typed that, there was nothing in your post. Are my eyes failing me that bad?? Or someone's playing games with us? That might be it, after all, this IS a game site!
No, you weren't imagining things. My post went blank several times. I suspect the WordPress settings behind GAOTD have a trufflehunting censor bot that scans for various links that someone feels shouldn't be allowed. (or maybe the way I tried to script the link caused a fuse to blow?) Either that, or Bubby's on a witch hunt and decided to burn me at the stake just for funsies. I've been a supporter of the site since its inception, partly because I'm opposed to censorship, but mostly because I like animated gifs. http://www.eff.org/br/br.gif
Of course, if someone can get away with posting something denigrating about "bloated hogs", but a link to Free Speech is rejected, I have to question the viability of the filter used by the censor bot. It also begs the question - why wasn't this entire thread removed after the first post for being totally disconnected from reality and games?
Runesage : "graylox, in some primitive cultures, an exposed belly button can justify a beheading or stoning. We really don't need primitive extremists plying their wares on a game forum, do we?"
and not on the software forum, not in radio & tv and not in schools, there are some more places
Good examples of where censors need not tread! Heck, if the censors start banning software links just because of an exposed bellybutton, then I (as a gander) might miss out on the new free dancing nekkid cheerleader game. OTOH, I know one goose on this board who'll lobby for equal opportunity in the form of a Chippendale dancer game. :-) So, bring on the bellybuttons!!! Just clearly identify the links so there's no mix-up. This gander don't need no male buttons, and the geese probably don't want no female buttons.
Rune don't be too sure...
but by the way, did anybody see this unmentionable thing ?
I turned off the ad-blocker but there were no Chippendale dancer - pitty
OK - after reading the rules of the forum - do people feel that the second post in this thread is threatening, argumentive, hostile and rude in tone towards the original poster. Not what I would describe as exactly 'helpful'.
Does it respect that the original poster may have different background, nationality, and perhaps more conservative values? (And a different understanding on how which graphical adverts are "selected" to be displayed)
Does anyone consider the tone or content of the original posters message to be anything other than polite and unoffensive and making a request to the site owners which did not deserve the response he/she got?
Finally, for once the user actually posted in the correct section (Suggestions and proposals on our forums etc) - not the 'games section' as claimed by then 2nd poster.
I have turned off my AVG AV, ZA Firewall, SuperAntiSpyware, BoClean, ThreatFire, CookieWall, AdBlocker Plus, SiteAdvisor, LinkScanner, AVG and Sophos RootKit Detectors, SpBlaster and Spybot S&D and still haven't seen this pants ad. :) Much less the Chippendales.
I saw the first one with no reply when it first came in. I began to look for this ad because I didn't have a clue as to what they were talking about.
The second one came and yes.. It was very rude and threatening; even attacking the spelling etc. I figured once the second one came, this thread was "Poof".
There doesn't seem to be a pants ad link. As for Chippendale's, I wuz just runimating, ma'am. Hey, best you re-enable those safety features posthaste. Never know when someone's going to slip in a malware site link here.
BubbyCo, I suppose if the first poster was specifically indicting GAOTD for displaying the add(sic) and had bothered to post a link TO the GAOTD page where the add(sic) was displayed to show us all that it was so horribly offensive that women and children should turn away in shame, that would justify the thread. If GAOTD is linking to an ad server pushing bellybutton ads that they could block but didn't because, oh, let's say cause they couldn't have imagined in a million years that some extremely small and overzealous segment of the population would be so grossly offended by a nipslip or button that they have to complain, then the thread would make sense. A rational mod might have replied - "Sorry, we have no control over ad content being served nor can we tell vendors that the ads on their site should be pulled down. Please file a complaint with Google or the diet site." Maybe add a link to CyberNanny.
However, it doesn't appear as if the poster was talking about GAOTD at all, but a third party diet aid site, so how does that justify him bellyaching here?
To be honest with everyone; I was thinking it was a troll post. And I am still not sure it isn't, since the OP has not responded. I have seen drive-by trolling many a time.
And my puter is all safe and sound like Fort Knox again.
Okay, whatza troll post? New term for moi. At the risk of exposing a bellybutton, is this guy responsible?? -
http://neatorama.cachefly.net/images/2007-01/troll-doll-1965.jpg
I suppose that explains why temporarily allowing addthis.com and googlesyndication.com didn't show anything. Mayhap it was at Free Downloads Center?
WOT doesn't like that site.
A troll post is one tossed in to start trouble, get irate reactions, etc.
I found the add on the homepage of a diet
The phrasing sure doesn't sound like *here*...
Ahhhh, well, apparently it got the desired response. :-) I can't find my link to a spoof site that draws caricatures of different types of posters. I don't recall a TROLL being on the list, but I'll check.
You mean the site I just posted?? It's just a picture of a little troll doll. If WOT doesn't like it, I'd love to know why. The site is informative and funny, albeit probably better for adults.
An Internet troll, or simply troll in Internet slang, is someone who posts controversial messages in an online community, such as an online discussion forum, with the intention of baiting other users into an emotional response.
Thanks, you two. Love adding terms to my lexicon. I guess BubbyCo can ask GAOTD to add a new button to the list of options for ranking posts. Thumbs up, thumbs down, best post, worst post, wrong forum and troll.
thus leading to the phrase Don't feed the trolls translating to don't post in response, it just encourages the idiot.
@RunesageMagik - Nope, WOT doesn't like Free Downloads Center.
says:

Perhaps BuBBy may have more limitations on discretionary interpretation as an admin?
Yes, I get it. Unfortunately, there are times when I just feel like verbal jousting even with "trolls". That's why we have BubbyCo as referee, kibitzer, hanging judge, censor and keeper of the key.
Hmmmm, a block on Freedownloadscenter, eh? That just piques my curiosity!
Bubbyco, I nearly choked on the "rule" - threatening, argumentive, hostile and rude in tone??? Fer crying out loud, is this nambypambyville, or what? People really need to grow a spinal column and get a thicker skin transplant.
