No worries. Nah, I'm not worried. That's why I voiced my opinion in the first place, I felt comfortable doing so on this forum. All in all, this is a pretty good place to share, learn, and just get some feedback.
OK, I've got work to do, so I'll check back later, just to make sure that LeKanaw has recovered sufficiently to enable her to continue living a normal life! :-)

Wanted to tell you that NO!!, we are certainly NOT rich entrepreneurs, on the contrary, there is no money to make in a small bookstore, just a lot of passion for books.
We only have 1 GOOD PC. The other 2 we bought a few months ago for the bookstore, and are cheap stuff we got on sale for $350. The Laptops are almost 3y. old, the Toshiba we paid full price, but the Acer we got an end of the line deal for $600.
So 5 computers may appear like a big thing, but in reality it's not.
Prior to that I worked on the same PC from 1993 to 2006 w Windows.95, but than it died... Why??? I treated it well!! Stupid machine... ;*)
Indeed we are going to buy a 1TB external very soon, not bc we have that much data {no porn either :-)}, but to be able to store somewhere the OS Imaging/Clones from all the computers. Plus of course, my husband's hummungus music collection that keeps on growing... (bc I keep finding rarities he likes, and bc I still have to sub his also hummungus vinyl LP collection, so I do indeed dwld a lot of music)
Stuff is more expensive here. I think a 1TB MyBook wireless is around $450.
Don't know if MyBook is a good choice or not, someone suggested it, haven't investigated it yet.
I know the $300. for the 5 Acronis is not the end of the world, it's more a question of making the right choice, otherwise it's A LOT of time wasted, by investing in learning h2 operate many different s/w. It's more a question of time(that I have very little of!)

@ RM tout, in my way of usage means to "Advertise in strongly positive terms." Meaning that if you were providing a link and information about it, that it must be a worthwhile program. I trust your judgment, for the most part. I meant no offense, my fiend! I mean, friend... :-)

@ LeKanaw About the Gizmo gig. It's all sort of hush hush at the moment, so I'm not really at liberty to give out any particulars regarding format change, eta of new format, things of that nature.
But, if I were to generalize for you, I might just be inclined to say that you should be seeing something new within 45 days, hopefully much sooner.... :-)

Wow, I did the exact thing with Win95, from '92 to mid-'07, and it still runs, only it's no longer allowed on the Internet, not even with a leash.
I once dreamed of owning a bookshoppe... started out slow via SCOP, and then Dart Drug launched Crown, the category killer, and I heard the bell tolling. Best wishes on a successful venture.

It wasn't my intent to argue with anyone, about anything. I only voiced my opinion, and was by no means trying to cause anyone any undue distress. I hope you know that?

Hiya, LK. You're a sharp cookie! You said Didn't know that for you it had a "bad" connotation. Very observant of you! Yep, comes from my childhood, from having parents that argued a lot. No discussions, but real arguments. So, I tend to go out of my way not to argue, and if I feel that one is in the brew, I'll back off if possible.
Earlier I posted my security set-up & specs, to have comments & advice. I guess I missed that post. This thread has already taken so many twists and turns, I was lost a long time ago. Not to mention that I'm dealing with some crud in my personal life right now, so I'm a bit out of sorts at the moment.
But tell you what. When you finish this thread, why not start another one, a thread that is specific to just one question, and I'll do my best to answer anything I can for you there, OK? :-) And don't let all this *knowledge* stuff get to you.. it takes time, and for some, well they just never do get it at all. It's like anything else, learning is an ongoing process, one that's never really complete at all...

LeKanaw - maybe I was wrong to say it's okay to "hijack" the thread. Once it rolls over to page 2 and beyond, it's hard to remember what's been said. We were getting kinda silly, and you had a hard time posting for a while, so I can't recall if you ever noticed my links to on-line scanners on page 1.
Methinks FwF makes a valid point to suggest you start a new thread (or maybe even TWO) for questions/concerns about HIPS, and Imaging/Cloning. I have no need for HIPS at this time so I'm the wrong one to offer guidance. However, IMHO, we may have passed a critical point in the ever-escalating war between hackers and security software that makes it too risky for novices or new/small businesses to try to maintain their own servers and SysAdmin/Security Depts even as the up front cost of memory and processing power come down.
Regarding HIPS, I've always found that to be a volatile (dangerous) topic to discuss around women! :-)
