Hello, LeKanaw. Over the course of the last few years, I have installed and tried many process explorer type programs. If you are asking me for my personal experience with them, and my personal opinion of them, I'd be happy to provide you with one, on the condition that you, or anyone else reading this thread recognize the words to be just exactly what they are.... My Personal Opinion
Ok, that having been said and out of the way, here we go.... To me, and from my experience, I wouldn't single out Process Explorer as being any better, nor any worse, than any of the other programs of that genre. TaskInfo, Task Master, Process Explorer, et al do just about the same thing, they only differ in the bells and whistles that accompany the program interface.
Bottom line is, the reason someone uses a program of this nature is to see what tasks/processes are running on their system. Some want to know because of curiosity, some want to know what is taking up their CPU cycles, and some want to know if any *bad boys* are running in the background. After trying several of these programs, I am left using just one, that does all I want/need, and has never failed me. It might surprise you........
At the end of the day, good 'ole Windows Task Manager does all I want. If something is taking up a large amount of my CPU power, I can find out what it is using Task Manager. If I want to monitor my CPU usage, I can minimize it to the System Tray and have the graph inform me with just a glance. If I do have any *Bad Boys* running in the background, chances are I'm going to need a program other than a process/task viewer to get rid of it anyway, so at that point I move on to other tools in the toolbox.
So, there you have it. I applaud your eagerness to learn, it is a quality that will serve you well! If we stop learning, we stop living, yes? Enjoy the journey, and if there are any more questions, just post in the appropriate forum section, and I'm sure you'll receive many replies! Look for mine to be amongst them. :-)
