what link?Posted 17 years ago # -
the title of this thread and its posts has no link - as in like theres no match (cant find a better word)
Posted 17 years ago # -
lol, is that good or bad?
:( or :)Posted 17 years ago # -
Are you suggesting the thread title "blame?" has little relevance to the content of the posts? I agree - rather pointless thread actually.
Posted 17 years ago # -
pointless thread with quite a few "pointless" replies :)
Posted 17 years ago # -
Actually if you go back and read your opening post, this thread may be relavent. LOL
Anyway it seems that all is well now. (got to take a step back...All isn't well...at least with one member ROTFL)
The thread needs to be closed before it gets much longer. We can always start another one that is more specific.
Posted 17 years ago # -
maybe it would be better to delete it
Posted 17 years ago # -
No! If it had been deleted, I would not have had the opportunity to enjoy it so. Besides, it was nice to "get to know" Lee and Bubby better, not to mention the rest of you "dudes."
Posted 17 years ago # -
VampireRat, if I remember right you posted in another thread about how you came up with your username. Your Not a dude. LOL
Posted 17 years ago # -
lol
getting to know people is fun
Archangel, which post was that? (another thread about how you came up ....)Posted 17 years ago # -
I don't know where it was but.........there were a couple of members posting and realized that each was a lady. Now I'm not going to mention that............well one is a grandmother (hehehehe)........and so on.
Now ladies please don't burn me at the stake. Even though I deserve it most of the time.
kevin, I was a cop my whole adult life. You get to the point to where you don't miss much. If you take your time when reading everyones new posts, it doesn't take long to figure out who is who, what they are all about and even there level of experience in alot of different things. I'll see if I can locate the one where they are chatting and post the link.
-------------------------------------------
Here you go kevin. It was another thread that went off topic but remember that it is a good thing. You can see how members begin getting to know and trust one another.

alexiussg, I believe the words you're looking for are "off topic" :>
And yes, this thread is off topic. It, uh, might as well sink, fun as it is.
Posted 17 years ago # -
I believe the words you're looking for are "off topic"
I think that would be true, only if there was "a topic" to begin with.
This thread was fairly nebulous to begin with. ;P
(I'd rather contain "chat" in one place than try to manage it popping up everywhere).
Posted 17 years ago # -
its ok to me...
Posted 17 years ago # -
lets just use this thread for chatting....
at least the "topic/title" attracted a few people lol
thanks for the link ArchangelPosted 17 years ago # -
I hereby BLAME everyone here for chatting in this thread.
There. Back on topic. See how nice?

Yha I know I'm late gettin' back to the party. Had things to-do.
Anyway,

I prefer to be called 'Lee' or 'Salad'. However I find it racially offensive to be called a 'Pom'.
Dood is better.
And...
It was my cricket nick.
I was a fast bowler, that averaged 40++ with the bat also and I am a vegetarian.
I have a luv for anything salady!
Thanks for the reply Lee. Very interesting nick-name there. I'm basically a meat and potatoes man myself, however I have been know to down some rabbit food on occasion! ;) I assume this means you wouldn't be offended if called a 'Dude' when referring to you being a man, as Archangle stated is it's modern day general implication. Did you misspell 'Dood', or is that spelling the English version of the word Dude? Just curious.
I see BuBBy didn't answer the question directly. Guess I'll have to be careful with it's use when referring to Aussies ...LOL! *scratches head*

I think your referring to the search tag(s). I added a few for ya so someone could come across this thread in regards to the conversation here if interested in the topic. ;)

Archangle;

I agree with Archangle. The title and opening refers to the forum and it's use even though the conversation has lead elsewhere. It still falls into the blame category when referencing someone and a flame war ensues over cultural differences and word play. Blame would be on both parties for assuming as well as overlooking/ignoring cultural differences in a global community, and is why I was curious in the first place so as not to insult anyone ...(at least unintentionally ;)), and therefor be the 'blamed' party of ignorance and dissension.

Nice call headman! ...LOL!
Posted 17 years ago # -
wow, the title "blame" worked pretty well in getting respondes
:)Posted 17 years ago # -
Sure did! Waiting to see who responds next. I think it's turned into an interesting thread so far. Who knows? This thread could put to rest questions others have about differences and the like, or who's blaming who for what and why! Getting things out in the open and understood can go a long way toward harmony and understanding within this global community and it's members, now and for future members-to-be. It could end being a good reference/read in that regard. And who nows!, it may very well end up being a sticky for reference to all!
I'm still hoping to get some responses to some questions/curiosities of my own. The more we understand about one another and our cultures or differences, we narrow the gap of communication and understanding about each other and those differences. I say keep it open and see where it goes.
@Lee;
You brought up the term Pom, which until now, I've never heard. My curiosity here is to understand it so as not to offend anyone, or at least understand why someone would be offended if I or anyone inadvertently used the term without realizing or intending it to be an insult. You said in your reply " However I find it racially offensive to be called a 'Pom'. " which I personally don't understand implies to, nor does the dictionary reference clarify. Now don't take offense here. I'm just trying to make sense out of what you said and better understand your comment. If for some reason it's such a terrible thing it can't be discussed hear, then I suppose I'll except that and attempt to educate myself elsewhere. Would you be so kind as to enlighten me, and I'm sure others that aren't familiar with the implication?

BigThunder1, in the spirit of sharing, and since it's been bugging me that he hasn't corrected you (I'm a spelling freak!), are you aware that you've been writing "Archangel" as "Archangle"?
As for the rest of the topic... I don't even know what happened to it. Anarchy! Anarchy at its finest.
... :D
Posted 17 years ago # -
Oh no! I wasn't aware and thank you for pointing it out! I won't go as far as to say I'm a spelling freak (well maybe a little), but I do pride myself on correct spelling and am embarrassed about my oversight. Thank God I'm not writing in ink! I couldn't live without spell checkers, so I'll have to put the "Blame" there. ...LOL
@Archangel;
I do dearly apologize for my oversight and hope your not offended by it. Of course, considering your profession, the misspelling could be viewed in a relative manner. ;) I'm surprised you yourself didn't correct me! I certainly correct people in a heartbeat when they misinterpret, misspell, or attempt to shorten mine to an acronym.
All the same I apologize for the oversight, and thank you Jucati for bringing it to my attention.
Posted 17 years ago # -
Did you misspell 'Dood', or is that spelling the English version of the word Dude? Just curious.
Intentional widespread misspelling. Probably originates from 1337-speak (or at least broken 1337-speak) which often phonetically spells words (d00d instead of something like d\/d3).
And you've got another "dead" link, BigThunder ;>As for misspelling Archangel, well, I was sort of resisting pointing it out. I see it too often to really let it bug me anymore (Seeing 'angel' mis-spelt, that is). =/

Oh man! I can't be that bad today can I?! *scratching head*
Let's try this again shall we?! Art Prodigy
Edit:
Hmmm... This one works, therefor I must have left something out. Best I can hope for now is one of the moderators take pity on me and try to fix them.Posted 17 years ago # -
wow, English lesson, lol
Posted 17 years ago # -
Yha.... NOW this is off topic.
Ok. Blame me. Now that "blame" is the topic again we can move on here. Guess I really opened a can of worms here huh? LMAO...
I caught a mistake by Keilaron the other day. Suppose it's only right for him to return the favor. ;)
And who nows!, it may very well end up being a sticky for reference to all!
Ever feel like eating your own words?! LOL
Posted 17 years ago # -
how on earth did "blame" turn into a million off topic topics?? :)
Posted 17 years ago # -
Keilaron,
Please include the numeral 1 (one) when using or referring to my screen name BigThunder1. There is another person that apparently uses the same screen name without that and if googled you'll see this person is into some things I'm not, such as porn and the like. I've had the 2-way radio handle BigThunder for years, but on-line this was already taken when I applied so I had to add the numeral 1 to it. Last I checked, it appeared this other person isn't active anymore; or at least hasn't been in the last couple years or so, and I don't want to be associated with that scum bag character or be 'blamed / accused' of being that person. Thanks. ;)
