I have two games today to make up for not posting yesterday. I couldn't seem to get out of bed long enough to do anything. In a span of 25 hours, I slept 21. I think it was from overworking myself all night Friday night and then cleaning the house from top to bottom all day Saturday and half of Sunday as well as moving furniture around. Let's just say I feel refreshed now though =D Anyway...
I have a first person exploration game and a point and click adventure game for everyone today. The first game is titled The Devil's Tuning Fork, and it was created by some Depaul college students as an assignment to enter into the Indie Game Festival. The second game is titled Featherweight. Featherweight boasts some rather nice artwork to enjoy. Without further ado:
The Devil's Tuning Fork
Devil's Tuning Fork is an exploration game viewed from a first-person perspective, where you play as a child trapped in an alternate reality after catching a strange illness and falling into a coma. The unknown world is a dark one and has no illumination, but a tuning fork that you find at the start of your adventure can be used to feel your way around the maze of rooms and platforms.Locked doors can either be opened by collecting all toys inside a room, or by ringing a bell or a gong using a sound wave projected from your fork. Progress is saved automatically at checkpoint locations scattered throughout the maze, although if you quit the game and return to it later you will find that your previous save is no longer accessible. Some of the challenges are repetitive as well, especially when you are waiting for a moving platform to reach you for the umpteenth time, or trying to stand on the right spot to bounce a wave off a mirror and hit a gong.
Talk about a different kind of concept. The visuals are pretty stunning themselves. This is definitely worth a download just for the experience of trying something a little new. You may feel more enlightened afterwards...probably not, but you might. I'm posting the link to the homepage for the game. The menu on the right allows you to access screenshots, video, and the all important download page.

Featherweight
In Featherweight you play as Thadd, a scout for a rebel group fighting against robots who are out to capture all humanoids. Discovering that a fellow spy has been caught by the machines, he embarks on a mission to rescue her even with the knowledge that chances of succeeding is slim. The interface is easy to use and puzzles aren't too difficult to solve, although there is a bit of reliance on challenges that require figuring out combinations for locks and doors throughout the adventure. Expect to do a bit of pixel hunting as well, but the game is short and the amount of frustration from retrying has been kept to a minimum.
This is an excellent game that should keep you fixated on the artwork in the backgrounds if nothing else. The story is your typical underdog saves the day story, but in a post-apocalyptic future. Great time waster if you're bored and feel like stimulating your mind and eyes. Give it a shot!
