Good news there will be at least one game giveaway this weekend (tomorrow Saturday). I thought I’d post the games I’d prepared for tomorrow anyway and they can stand in for the lack of a game on Sunday (though there is still a remote possibility that we may get another game or even an extension of Saturday’s game. Anyway, here are some more games to keep you occupied over the weekend (that’s if you have miserable weather and aren’t able to get out. :)
The first game is anther point & click adventure from the author of yesterdays point and click Mental Repairs. A nice little platformer and
Murder in a wheel: (3.7Mb)
Murder in a Wheel (short MiaW) is a retro-adventure emulating the style of old LucasArts titles. Those familiar with games like Day of the Tentacle or Monkey Island will immedately recognize the interface. As the name already suggests, the game is a murder mystery and, more specifically, a locked room mystery.
MiaW was created with AGS (Adventure Game Studio) and currently runs on Windows only. There are ports of AGS for Linux and Mac (beta), but I was unable to test them.
MiaW was a semester work (Game Design, Interactive Storytelling) at the Zurich University of the Arts (ZHdK), and it won the Best Short Game AGS Award in 2007.

There has been a tragedy in the Blackwin household. Roderick, beloved hamster of Lady Blackwin, was cruelly murdered. But who could have done such a terrible thing? Poor Roderick was a only a defenceless hamster after all. Who could possibly want him dead? And what's more - how? Roderick was found dead in a locked room, so how did the murderer get to him? It really is a mystery. Lord Blackwin has asked his trusted friend, Lionel Ulmer, to investigate things. This is where you come in. You are Lionel Ulmer, and it is up to you to solve the mystery. You must look for clues and question possible witnesses. Will you be able to solve the case of Murder In A Wheel, and find poor Roderick's killer?
Gameplay:
This game is quite short, but it will give you plenty of laughs along the way. The game uses a simple point-and-click interface. There are some words at bottom of screen (Give, Open, Talk to, Pick Up, etc), which Lionel can use to interact with the game world. Inventory items are at bottom right of the screen, and are shown as icons. Press F5 at any time to Save, Load, or Quit the game. Puzzles are well thought out, and are not too difficult to solve. Lionel comes out with some very funny comments sometimes, all the while keeping a straight face. For example, he tells Lord Blackwin that he can control who hears what is being said, and he says it in such a serious tone!
Graphics
Murder In A Wheel has a similar feel to the old Lucas Arts games, which makes it a lot of fun to play. Strong, vibrant colours have been used, and backgrounds have a slightly 'crooked' look to them. Patterns on the wallpaper and carpets, as well as light coming in from the window show good attention to detail. Even the kitchen floor looks like wood.
Music & sound effects
There are some good sound effects in this game. Roderick’s bell was amusing, as it annoyed Lord Blackwin so much. Footsteps as Lionel walked around were very effective, and doors opening \\ closing was also a nice touch. But I have to say that the violin playing was my favourite. It was just so awful!!! Music has been borrowed from other Lucas Arts games (Day Of The Tentacle, Sam & Max, Monkey Island etc), and so it is not original. On the other hand, the music that was used seems just right for this game, and adds a lot of comical appeal.

Fallover:
A mini platformer with a wobbly old man
This game contains 8 one-screen levels with silly physics. You play with an old British man and you have to reach the flag to complete the level. But there is a problem with that guy. He isn't firm on his feet and so he can easily fall over after a jump. He may not fall more than 3 times per level else you have to restart the level. Don't forget to collect coins in order to get a good score. The max. score by completing the whole game is 103.
Good luck! :)
Controls:
Arrows = Move
S = Jump
A = Stand up (after falling)
R = Restart level

The next two games I chose simply on the basis of the names and their similarity to two of the free games for the weekdays team. :) Ones another beat ‘em up and the other is an older text based game.
Zork II - The Wizard of Frobozz
Zork II is the sequel to the well know text-based game Zork I. The game starts right after where you left off, in your quest to explore the Underground Empire, find treasures and, of course, survive. Like the previous game, Zork II has a weak story and little background information.
Just as its prequel, Zork II is a text-based game, involving commands to move around and do actions. Some commands include: Look, Take, Get, Kill, ect. The game can get frustrating because if something is not taken, or done, in the future events, you might get stuck. This is a curse that has been in the Zork games.
In Zork II, the puzzles are pretty difficult. The main problem is that there are no "clues" to tell you how to complete the puzzle. This can sometimes result in death and restarting the game, or not getting a certain item.
If you enjoyed Zork I, or want to play a difficult text-based game, you will love Zork II: The Wizard of Frobozz. This game isn't good for impatient people, however.
Like Zork I, this game runs perfectly on Windows Xp. Just run the zork2 batch file and it will start up.

Ninja Rabbits
"A leakage at a chemical factory has filled the world with deadly nerve gases. The animals and people have become aggressive. Ninja rabbit is the only hope of finding the leak and saving the world from destruction."
Ninja Rabbits is a side scrolling fighting game. This is the first game in the two-part series. The sequel is called International Ninja Rabbits.
As the name of the game suggests the player controls a ninja rabbit. You'll have to use his ninja skills to beat up the various enemies in three different levels. The only "weapon" this rabbit carries is a wooden stick but don't worry, the enemies don't have any better weapons either. If an enemy manages to hit the rabbit his health bar gets smaller. It's depicted as a carrot in the top-left corner of the screen. You start the game with three lives but you can gain extra lives by finding carrots.
The enemies you'll see consist of other animals, humans and robots. You will have to fight only one enemy at a time. Some of the enemies are better fighters than others and take more hits to beat. Beware of dropping rocks and flying golf balls too or they will sap our rabbit hero's health very quickly.
The three levels in order are the countryside, the city and the factory. Each level consists of several screens. You can reach the next screen usually just by walking to the right, but sometimes you will have to jump down to the sewers or climb up ladders. If you get killed the game continues from your current screen.
Seriously speaking Ninja Rabbits has some flaws. The controls are terrible, animations too slow andit has only pcspeaker sound effects. The graphics aren't great either. You could expect more from a game with such an interesting premise. Nevertheless, if you like beat 'em up games then maybe you will like this one too.
