Sorry I’ve been away all week. I was taken ill while playing Half life Deathmatch last Saturday and went steadily downhill until mid week. I’m still not 100%, but well enough to post the following games. You’ll find the classic double Dragon III, a Dino sim game and futuristic strategy game as well as a really good point and click adventure game.
X-COM: UFO Defense
Once unpacked click on the UPOGold part 1 icon which unpacks the home of the underdogs fixed version of this game. Once installed you’ll need to create a desktop icon from where yu’ve manually installed the game to. Use the icon called Xcom1fix as the other icon that says UFO Defense doesn’t work properly. (I’ve tried setting my screen resolution to several different settings to see if it fixes the problem, but it didn't)
This isn’t a game that everyone will enjoy. It’s purely strategic, so there’s no fancy explosions or space ships to fly, just lots of menu based options and a map of the world. I wasn’t sure whether I should post it, but the comments made on one of the sites where I checked this game out persuaded me otherwise.
Please let me know what you think of the game.
Extraterrestrials are invading mother Earth, creating panic, terrorizing major cities and killing at random. You're the supervisor of the international eXtraterrestrial COMbat unit called XCOM. It's your job to combat these sinister aliens and save the human race. An great strategy/action game.
User comments:
• No_Pause - This is fantastic! Thanks to FileRadar for linking up this awesome game! I'm hosting it myself to make the Internet just a little bit better and in case the other links get defunct -- i know how hard this game is to find.
• mikegamer - I have never managed to finish this game no matter how many times I have started it either my computer dies or I hit a crash bug. Hopefully this download will not crash. I have loved this game no matter what.
• Noremakk - I've been looking for this for SO LONG at game stores, old game sites, even on some less legit websites... (desperate to play it, okay?), only to find it under my nose here. Thank you so much for this game!

Double Dragon III (<1Mb)
My eldest son, whose now serving in Afghanistan had this game. I remember always gettig beaten by the game, and is probably one of the games that put me off this genre of games (though I have bought a recent beat em up game called Zeno clash, but more for the amazing graphics and different game play than for a basic beat em up game. You’ll also find links for the first two in the series below, though I’ve not included any information about them.
This was the last in the Double Dragon Series and was made in 1992 by Virgin Interactive.
The graphics aren’t bad, but I can’t say the same thing for the sound. In the whole game you will hear about three different samples. The first one is when you hit someone, the second when you hit the boss of the current level and the last one is the sound of the swords of Japan in the third mission.
The story won’t get an Oscar, either; Billy and Jimmy are about to finish their martial arts course when they suddenly meet a mysterious old woman. The woman tells them about some strange rosetta stones with secret powers. She wants you to find the stones and return them to her.
Thus your quest begins. You can play as Billy or as Jimmy if you "buy" him in a shop. At the beginning the game is fun, but after about ten minutes of play you might get bored. During your five missions you’ll have to kill the bad guys and beat the boss at the end of each level. You can kick, punch, jump (which is a little bit difficult) and kick while jumping. You’ll use the latter all the time because it's the easiest way to destroy your enemies. You also have the option of jumping against a wall and hitting your enemies after you bounce back. Sometimes the game may become so annoying that if you are not a calm person, you will want to break the computer while yelling at the game. This begins in the third mission when the ninjas force you against the wall and every time you get up you fall back down immediately after being hit by ninja stars.
One thing I liked in the game were the shops. You can find them in every mission except the fourth. There you can buy some tricks, weapons, energy, power or an extra character (to play with Jimmy or someone else). The other thing was the motorcycle - during the first and last missions you’ll have to kick the bad guys from their motorcycles. However, the good things end here. Jumping and kicking gets boring, and you often decide to play something else. You can't pick up objects and throw them at your enemies. The bosses are quite easy to beat with no special hits or powers - you just have to hit them 10 times and they are dead. If you are a fan of the series play this last part, but if not, try something else. This game doesn’t have a quit option. You will have to press Alt+Tab and then when you return to Windows you can press Ctrl+Alt+Del to close the game. (This applies only if you don’t use DOSBox).

Dinopark tycoon 1.58Mb
You’ll need to use DOSBox with this game. Check out wizzards post on setting up DOSBox (DOSBox made easy, which is a sticky in the games discussion threads) if you’re not sure about using DOSBox. It’s well worth the effort. DOSBox is easy to configure and once it’s done playing your DOS based games is simple and a lot of fun. We’ve posted quite a few DOS based games, many of which are fantastic games. Though if you’re looking for modern day graphics you’re looking in the wrong forums. :)
As with most simulation games, the story is not relevant; it's just to get you started. The objective in Dinopark Tycoon is the successful administration of a park. However, this is not your ordinary amusement park but a dinosaur park. You start off with $5000 which is borrowed from the bank. The game doesn't just limit itself to buying a few dinosaurs, but also having to buy land (there are three types of land on wich you can build your park), fence it properly (there is even an option to buy electrical fences) and hire maintenance men since you don't want your dinos to escape. You also have to buy food for your over-sized attractions. There are dinosaurs that eat only meat, and there are others who eat only vegetables. Luckily the game comes with an encyclopaedia of all the dinosaurs available, which comes in pretty handy. Your task will be to buy dinosaurs and facilities, maintain them properly, and keep the visitors entertained for the cheapest possible entrance price.
Graphics are good, considering the game's age, while sound is nothing special. The interface is a good feature of this game since it's very nice and simple to learn.

This is my favourite game out of todays selection. It’s called:
Mental Repairs: (64.4Mb)
Henrik Liaw has an unusual job. He repairs defective electronic machines, by using a Katharsis Interface to enter their psyche. To put it simply, he is a machine psychiatrist. He works for a company called Mental Repairs (hence the title), and it's his job to 'fix' machines by entering their psyche, and solving any problems they might have.
So late one night, he gets called out to an emergency at the Rhosonit Engineering building. Apparently, their Main Computer has had a nervous breakdown, and they want Henrik to treat it. But when he arrives, there is no-one in sight. It seems that he is all alone in a strange building. To make matters worse, the building goes into lockdown, trapping poor Henrik inside, with no way out. Oh well, may as well get on with things then. The Main Computer is located in the Executive Level on the First Floor. But... the elevator is broken as well. What on earth is going on here? Henrik soon realises that he can't leave the building until he fixes the Main Computer. And he can't get to the Main Computer until he fixes the elevator. But as explores, he finds more machines, each with their own problems. And guess who has to sort out these problems? Henrik has a busy night ahead of him.
GAMEPLAY
Mental Repairs is a game with a unique concept, and a great story. 'Machine Psychiatrists' are not something you hear about every day. Poor Henrik has to deal with a colour-blind photocopier, a paranoid coffee dispenser, an elevator with split personality, and more. There is an interesting twist at end of the game, which brings a whole new meaning to the game title.
The game itself is controlled by the mouse, which makes it easy to play. Simply click & hold your mouse over an object, to see a list of possible actions for that object (talk, use, open etc), then highlight that action, and release your mouse. Voila, Henrik will perform the selected action. When you are talking, simply right-click to advance through the text. There are 3 green buttons at bottom of screen. Clicking on 'M' button brings up the main menu. From here, you can Continue the current game, Save your game, Load a previously saved game, Quit the game, or Start a new therapy. Click on 'Question Mark' button to see a help screen, which tells you how to control the game. Finally, clicking on the 'Magnifying Glass' (or pressing Space Bar) shows all the hotspots in the current screen. Puzzles are logical, and well thought out. The only exception to this is the Copier puzzle, as the colours appear very similar, and it is hard to distinguish them from each other.
GRAPHICS
Since the game takes place at night, the whole Rhosonit building is quite dark and moody to emphasise this. But lighting (be it from freestanding lamps, lights on the wall, or low-hanging lights from the ceiling) casts shadows, and create wonderful atmosphere. When you talk to a machine, a list of options is shown at the bottom, and you just click on whatever you want to talk about. Dialogue is shown as text on the screen, and everyone has their own colour of text, so you can tell who is talking. There is some wonderful dialogue, which will have you chuckling to yourself. One of my favourite scenes is when Pictogram Man refers to Henrik as 'Sir Threedimensional', lol. Your inventory items are shown as icons at bottom of screen, so it's easy to see at a glance what you are carrying. Blinking of the coffee dispenser is very effective, and I love how (in the psyche) it twists round to talk to you. Even the 'whooshing' effect as the elevator moves up and down, is very effective. Henrik himself, moves very smoothly, and his mouth moves as he talks. But my favourite has to be seeing Henrik enter the psyche - that is just amazing.
MUSIC & SOUND EFFECTS
There are some wonderful sound effects in Mental Repairs. Right from the start, there is a loud 'clank' sound as the main doors slam shut, trapping you inside. Henrik's footsteps differ, as he walks over soft carpet or hard floor. Crumpling \\ unfolding paper, as well as walking around in the Copier's psyche really sounds as though paper is being scrunched up. I love the blinking sound coming from the coffee dispenser. Funky elevator music played, while you were... you guessed it... in the elevator.
