The following are a collection of games that’ll keep you occupied for a few days. I’ve tried to give you a good cross section of genres, though there are a couple of shooters included. This is my last post until a week Monday. reverseOrder is taking over my Thursday slot. He was keen to post over more days than previously. He was going to take over the weekend slots, but then the game giveaway team came back. The first shooter Modern War 3 is my favorite of the three I’ve posted today, and the Bridge Building game is my favorite puzzle game, though the sandbox game I added last called Phun is also a great game. Graylox posted about ‘Phun’ last weekend and I thought it would make a great addition to the free games project. It’s reminiscent of impossible machines, or the more recent crazy macines

Modern War 3:
This is an excellent ’defend your base’ shooter, with literally hundreds of enemy (Chinese) soldiers intent upon world domination hitting you wave after wave, supported by armored vehicles, cavalrymen, planes and para’s etc. attacking your base.
The game takes place a few years after the events of Modern War 2. The Chinese have made a full recovery from their earlier defeat and are looking for revenge. They have trained a whole new army of cannon fodder and are eager to sweep through your territory taking your bases over to use as their own
The more enemies you kill the more reinforcements the Chinese seem to get, but thankfully that’s not limitless. Also for every soldier you kill points are scored which can be redeemed in the shop. The shop menu is accessible by clicking the RMB. You can buy more soldiers, a tank, the ability to call in carpet bombing guided missiles and mercenaries and there’s even a meteor storm to devastate the exposed Chinese army. You must not let them take your base; so defend it to the last man.
The aim of the game is to get a high score. So be careful how you spend your points. The more soldiers you kill, the more point you will get. There are several difficulty levels to choose from.
According to the author there are cheats available which can only be used on difficulty levels above hard. Unfortunately I’ve not been able to find where these cheats are posted yet? One more thing. All the menus are in Russian, so you'll need to check them out by trial and error. After playing it yesterday, I will definitely be keeping it in my games library for the occasional stress reliving session, lol.

Death Cage 2: Nightmare Returns: (6Mb)
I’m obsessed with zombie games at the moment. Since buying Left 4 Dead several weeks ago I’ve purchased or pre-ordered several zombie or horror based games such as Killing floor Resident Evil 5 (release date last quarter), ObsCure, Alone in the Dark, Barrow Hill, Clive Barkers Jericho, Dead Space, Legendary, Prototype and Belief & Betrayal, plus a few Half Life 2 mods such as Zombie Panic. Most of which I’m really enjoying, so though it would be great if I could find a freeware zombie game to post. I have posted a couple previously that are based on the Doom engine. The following however is a top down shooter similar in mechanics to games such as the RIP series or Alien Shooter.
A top-down zombie-shooting game
The planet is still swarming with evil zombies and there is only one man that can turn the tide: Kunter!
This game is pretty similar to the prequel except for the fact that there are many improvements made. I will get to that later. The point of the game is to survive as long as possible in a zombie-infested area. This can be done by squeezing the trigger on a whole set of weapons and avoiding getting caught by the hungry zombies. If you need some practice, you can always rely on the Training-mode of the game to warm you up.
The selection of levels exist out of three environments and each one has seven levels to pick from, giving you a very nice selection to start the carnage. There are many weapons to choose from and soon you'll find yourself handling a M4 or even a devastating flamethrower. The ammo will deplete pretty soon but luckily there are weapons spawning once in a while so that more zombies can meet their demise. Pumping your shells into the zombies gives you a great stress relief and seeing the results of your work gives you a satisfaction that everyone would be jealous of.
The author has listened very well to his players and he has done a good job on improving the game. There are two new sceneries available (forest and street), the weapons are stronger, the music is amazingly good, small things have been tweaked and several bugs have been fixed. This kind of attitude is something we would all like to see with game developers.
Overall, a great game to relieve your stress or if you really like these kind of games.

NaaC:(10.2Mb)
Okay another game on the lines of Death Cage 2: Nightmare Returns, though instead of Zombies your shooting aliens.
Here’s what the author had to say:
NaaC is a fast single-screen arena shooter in which you can kill thousand of smelly aliens. Play as a space marine, kidnapped from the Earth, with only a jetpack and a pistol, and defeat a horde of monster!
• two different modes: Arena mode and Survive mode
• 100% original and high-resolution graphics
• 7 different weapons
• extended combo system
• original soundtrack
• online highscore - http://www.clickitaliansoftware.net/hosted/monkeysoft/naac/main2DB.asp
• a lot of blood on the floor
This fast action shooter has nice detailed graphics and good sound especially for the weapons .The game starts of fairly simple then one of the walls blows open and hell is let loose as you are shooting at anything that moves , then another wall will blow and you have got aliens coming from nearly every direction , there are plenty of extra cool weapons and power-ups to kick some serious butts with if you can reach them before they disappear, one of the power-ups is like a small drone that stands next to you and fires in the same direction as you are, another good weapon is the flame thrower as this just annihilates the enemy, be warned that you can run out of ammo so keep collecting the weapons that appear and don't waste your ammo. On the menu screen under "Inertia" there are two settings for the movement of the marine, Inertia off is for beginners where you move around slower and the second setting is for Expert where you zip around the screen a lot quicker, i found this better for picking up the Extra weapons and power-ups but has a slight sliding effect to and you can lose control slightly but as long as you keep the cross hair on the aliens this won't be a problem. After you have completed Arena mode you will then unlock Survive mode. Online scoring is good way to keep track on how you are doing with your Marine.

Blooming Gardens:
The purpose of the game is to align five or more flowers of the same kind.
The flowers can be aligned horizontally, vertically or diagonally. Each turn allows the player to move a flower to another cell. If a move does not align five or more flowers, three random flowers are added to random cells.
If a move aligns five or more flowers, these flowers disappear from the garden and no new flowers are added to the board.
The game is over when the garden is full of flowers.

Bridge Building (less than 1Mb)
I thought I’d posted this one some time ago, but can’t find any trace of it in the forums. There seems to be two versions of this game. One is downloadable from Chronic Logic (where the developers of one of my favorite indie games – Gish reside) and the other from Caiman. The chronic Logic version has double the number of levels, but is basically the same game. I posted a bridge building game a few weeks ago, but it was actually a browser game. This one as you’d expect from this project is a full download. Both files are little more than 300Kb in size, so you can expect basic graphics, but it really doesn’t matter with this game as it’s the bridge building that’s important. For the average person there’s at least a few hours worth of fun here.
In this game you have to build brige arround water reservoirs. Bridge have to be strong enough, because it also has to pass test. After building bridge train must go over it. In every level you have a limited budget to build your brige.
There are 15 levels. (more unlocked after beating the first 7 levels)
Controls
Game is controlled by mouse only.

Right mouse button = destroy detail
