I spent too long playing two of them, so sorry it's almost time for Tuesdays games already, lol. Anyway, here they are at last. I'm not too sure about the soccer game, but that's probably me as I've never been a fan of the game despite living opposite a stadium when I was teenager.
Little Ghost Joe: (9.78Mb)
Little Ghost downloads as an executable and installs to C:\Program Files\Neogen2 Creations\Little Ghost Joe by default and requires 11Mb of disk space; (that would have filled more than a quarter of my first ever hard drive which was a whopping 40Mb in size, lol). Shortcuts are installed to both the desktop and start menu applications list. You’ll find an uninstaller link in the start menu folder.
This is a great little indie platform game done in a black and white line drawing style, which gives it a real hand made feel; and which I found quite different and oddly refreshing. The first few levels aren’t too difficult provided you get used to the key board controls. You only get two lives, so you need to be wary. If you lose a life you have to start from the beginning again, unless you complete a level, in which case your level progress is saved. You can remap the key bindings to your own preferences; and there is a configurable mapping table for using a joystick. There are four slots for the joystick, and I thought it may be possible to configure a game pad such as an Xbox controller, but since reformatting the computer I was testing this on I’d not installed any drivers for the controller. I downloaded Microsoft’s Xbox for PC drivers, but kept getting an error message so was unable to test my controller. It would be interesting to find out from someone in the community whether they will work with this game. It’s an ideal game for a decent game pad as opposed to keyboard, though long time users of the keyboard for playing games shouldn’t have a problem. I whizzed through the first three levels without too much difficulty, (once I’d got used to the key bindings). There are signposts along the way that can be accessed by using the up arrow key. These give you tips that are appropriate to the game, usually directly ahead. You can see some of these signs as I took several screenshots. (see link below) The opening sequence starts with a mock up of an old silent movie and gives you a very brief overview of why Joe is a Ghost and what his intentions are.
The music really adds to the overall game play experience. It was composed by a guy called Johan Hargne. There are only three profile slots, but I’m sure for most families this is adequate. IF you wanted more you could always copy the installed folder and paste it in a different place, though you’d have to manually create shortcuts.
LGJ is a platformer inspired by many classic platformers like Super Mario Bros, with pretty unique visuals and setting (beginning of the XX century).
The game tells the story of Joe, who was brutally killed while his murderer, McLoud, got away without punishment. Since justice didn't work, Joe decided to get back to earth as a ghost and have his revenge, but for that he'll have to cross the Evil Mountains and get past the devil's minions before he can reach McLoud.
There’s an online scoreboard where you can upload and/or compare your highest scores with other players. There’s no direct access via the game yet, which is a pity as it would have added to the professional finish that this game gives off. You can access the scoreboard via the following link:

Caiman Soccer: (32.79Mb)
Caiman Soccer is a freeware football/soccer game inspired by games like Sensible Soccer and Kick Off, but is a new experience of it's own.
The game play is fast paced to provide intense matches from the beginning to the end, also thanks to the highly realistic ball physics which even allows after touch.
Each team has strengths and weakness, which makes each team unique and with characteristics of it's own.
The game is some sort of lite version of Football Live 2009.
You can find a copy of sensible soccer 98 or Sensible World Soccer 96/97 from some DOS archive sites, but I though that the Caiman Soccer would be more acceptable because it plays on widows whereas Sensible Soccer requires DOSBox.
Controls:
When attacking:
* A = Long Pass
* S = Pass
* D = Shoot
When defending:
* S = Attack Ball
* D = Tackle
You can use the arrows after you just shoot to curve the ball. This is called aftertouch.
* Space Bar = Pause Game
* ESC = Exit

Ghostbusters II:
Installation:
The zip file unpacks to 6.7Mb. You’ll have to select your own install path as there is no installer included with this game. Which means you’ll have to create your own shortcuts as well. To uninstall just delete the unpacked folder.
The Game
Starting the game via the games executable opens up a small window that gives you the option to play in full screen mode or the default windowed mode. The game is actually quite hard to beat. I struggled to even kill the first batch of ghosts because the skulls kept chewing through the rope I was suspended from.
There looks to be several excellent levels all with something different to offer. There are sound bits from the film such as the voice of Vigo, and the occasional strains of music reminiscent of Ghostbusters. I haven’t had time to explore this further, but from what I’ve seen of it so far I like it and will return to it when I have time. I’d give it a good 7 out of 10 for game play and a novel method of game play. It reminds me a little of the platformer that was released recently called And Yet It moves, though it’s not a platform game. I think it’s the cut outs that give me the connection. Please do give me feed back on this one if you have time, thanks.
You can use a game pad or keyboard to play the game. The keys have been mapped to take two schemes which you can read about below. You have three lives. There are items to be picked up during the levels, but there wasn’t any information about these in the read me. To move left or right you use the L & R cursor keys and to move up or down use the up/down cursor keys. These keys can also be used when aiming the plasma gun. To fire the weapon you have to alternate between the Z & X keys. There are three weapons to choose from, Proton beam, PKR bomb & PKR shield.
There is a different set of keys that can be activated at the beginning of a game by pressing enter instead of space. You’ll find more details about each of the levels in the read me file.
Authors Description :
In case you have never played it, Ghostbusters was the inevitable movie tie in released on the 8 bit machines.
You are given a budget of ten grand to purchase a car and equipment for your new business.
You then proceed to roam (the perfectly square) city map looking for haunted buildings.
Once you find one, you are taken to the ghost catching screen where you have to trap the ghost between your particle accelerator beams.
Once you have the little bugger trapped between your mighty pulsating beams, you whack the trap and catch him. Miss him and you get slimed and a guy taken out of action.
Once the slowly rising PK energy gets to high, you are summoned to Zuul where you must get past the marshmallow man, assuming you have earned more money than you begun with.
The remake features massively updated graphics from the talented Mr Smila.
The music is comprised of 2 mp3 sound tracks supplied by Xentrix and the Evil Scotsman.
I have enhanced the game play to make it more fluid, speeding it up where needed. I’ve also re done the driving section as it was rather pointless before.
Now there is traffic to avoid and money to collect. You are penalized cash if you hit another car. We have also added a wee surprise at the end .
A very smooth action game with certain objectives to win the game. The game also has equipment and cars to choose from. You started off with a small amount of money and have to catch ghost to earn much more. Once you earned enough and the time has come , you will have to face the last king , Gozer. The famous Marshmallow is also being introduced as well. More help is also available on the readme.text. Overall, it is an enjoyable game with original music and characters. A thumbs up for me indeed !!!
