So I was looking for a few games to post for today and I ran across a great developer of whom I will probably post more games later on. While reading about one of the games, I got an idea for a third game to post. Little did I know that the third game was by the same developer as Excellent Bifurcation, yesterday's game that I linked too. What a coincidence. Anyway...
I have three great little time wasting indie games for everyone today. Two of them are shmups again and one is well put simply Ping Pong! The next game is called Minubeat. The last game is titled Garden of Coloured Lights. Without further ado:
Ping Pong!
Ping Pong! is a great little freeware game by the indie developer Cactus Soft. Ping Pong! feels like an old Atari game of ping pong where the player is given a side view of the action. Graphics are certainly well outdated and the music is nostalgic as well. That being said, it is still rather entertaining...and hard. It takes awhile to get the feel of when to hit the ball and how to hit the ball before you will consider yourself a master. Guess what! There's even a local multi-player for you to challenge your friends!
The controls are easily picked up. Z=hit the ball and the arrow keys are used to hit it differently. I would suggest running through the training before sinking your teeth in. Though the training is a bit tedious (you must master each "technique" 5 times in a row or you will start that technique over,) it will still be helpful for the first time you play against the computer. Regular ping pong rules are used here with the exception of the serving. You serve just a couple of times before the computer does. I grew up playing that each player got 5 serves before switching.

Minubeat
HOLY CRAP IS MINUBEAT HARD!!!! All swearing and slamming the keyboard around put aside, minubeat is definitely a unique shmup. Though not quite as I thought it would be. The developer describes it as:
The game is a rythm shmup, you have to use bomb and defense in sync with the beat! Press Z to shoot normally. X for homing bombs, C to clear screen from bullets. You have one minute to beat the game, that's how short it is. Will probably take you a while, though. Boss is awesome.
And he wasn't kidding. you will be lucky to make it to the 30 second mark. This game comes straight at you from the get go. Wow! Download it now and see for yourself.

Garden of Coloured Lights
And the difficult games just keep coming! So yesterday's game was hard right? Well Garden of Colours is just as hard and made by the same developer. I don't know what this guy's problem is with making a game that some of us can actually beat, but he makes great games none-the-less. Garden of Coloured Lights inspired Cactus Soft to make Minubeat so this game is centered around music as well. The sounds in this game are awesome. I love them so much that the music alone makes me not want to die just so I can here the sounds the enemies make when they shoot at me. Oh yeah by the way, this is a shmup too. You have 3 different weapons you can use and you can even outfit your ship with the weapons of your choosing. I would advise mapping the keys on the main menu first before doing anything else. Good luck!
