Today I have two more Smaller indie games. I'm very impressed by both of these games and would rate them both as my favorites of the week. The first game is called Gravity Bone and it's an espionage FPS. Gravity Bone was an award winner at gametunnel.com in 2008 winning Best Arthouse Game. Next for today is a game called The Manipulator. The Manipulator is a platform shooter puzzler lol.
Gravity Bone
I’ve just had a quick play through of a rather interesting game. It’s called Gravity Bone, and it’s a very short (two levels) game based on the Quake 2 engine (which isn’t required to play) and focusing on espionage. It uses a brilliantly cubist style that makes up for what the engine can’t handle, and at the same time makes it seem like one big advert from the 50s. It’s kind of how TF2 would look if Valve had gone the whole way. It’s a bit crazy, and I’ve never seen anyone get that… violent over a few pictures.
It’s really rather brilliantly made. There’s no start up screen; it throws you straight into the game. The controls are what you’d expect, but in case you are new to games, they’re shown on some wonderful little in-game adverts. There are two levels, each with a rather simple objective, and involve little effort. The second level is by far the longer of the two, and involves some semi-tricky platforming, but apart from that it’s just interesting to play and experience it.

The Manipulator
There are people among us who call themselves Manipulators. These Manipulators can take control of your mind and use you. They are a threat to us; we must get rid of them at once! Be alert! Do not trust anybody! This game contains some flashy imagery so epileptics should be warned.
I found the game to be pretty different. For those of you who may have ever played the game called Gleist on Gamecube, this game is kind of along the same lines. You play a ghost and you manipulate people to reach the end of the game. You can take control of their bodies to help you overcome levels and obstacles. You can use them to kill other enemies, to clear a path for you, or read their minds to gain access to passwords for securities. The controls are as follows:
Arrows to move
Z to jump
X to manipulate/shoot
Space to change weapons
Down arrow to kill yourself/enemies
C to read Minds
The sound is excellent, and the odd sepia tones of the gamescreen make it eerier. I give this game a very solid 9.5/10 The game is extremely small, but downloads as an exe so you will need to save the file on your computer somewhere easy to remember.
