Knighthawk.....thanks for posting the corrected link. I forgot to check to make sure the link worked after I posted it.

Terri.....no......I've been using Revo for more than a year and it has never uninstalled anything but the 1 game I intended to uninstall. When you open the program you have to wait a few seconds while it builds a list of every program on your PC. Then you highlight just the one you want to get rid of before clicking the uninstall button. Make sure NOTHING else is highlighted, then click uninstall. I always use the advanced option. As I said I have never had a problem with it. It's a great program.

I guess Revo is totally different from RegCure. I thought they were the same thing. Is there anything like RegCure that is totally free? (OK I admit it, I'm cheap.)

BTW, Revo did help me solve my WOT problem. I saw it was on my computer, uninstalled it and downloaded it again. I still didn't see it but then for some reason I decided to check my toolbar settings and sure enough it was there all along what too far over for me to see the green circle. One problem down, many more to go.

Terri.......check out Reg-cleaner here. I'm pretty sure that's one my hubby uses but I'll check with him and let you know for sure. Oh.....and yes, Revo is different.

If you followed the discussion on left-over Gamehouse.com pre-installers appearing earlier in this thread, it's of interest to note that using a download manager during installation can help in recuperating those pre-installers, if they'd been deleted. I tested the procedure with much success using Safari and Orbit (but it could work fine with your preferred utilities). Normally, the download manager keeps a log of your activity, including URLs that link directly to your completed downloads. All you have to do is copy the link and paste it in your browser. With any luck, this should be enough to nudge the program installer into launching again, and hopefully, recover your lost game (or whatever software you were attempting to get back).
It's not guaranteed to work for everyone, but you might be among the fortunate ones!

Yesterday I used Revo Uninstaller to uninstall Ancient Secrets from Gamehouse. Now I can't download Mushroom Age because it's asking me which program I want to use to launch the program. I checked off Internet Explorer but nothing happens. How do I get the Gamehouse download manager back?

I fixed it! I'm so proud of myself for figuring it out. I used RevoUnistaller to do a System Restore back to when I uninstalled Ancient Secrets and it worked. I guess RevoUnistaller was the problem and deleted too much stuff. I'll go back to using Add/Remove programs. I'll keep RevoUnistaller for the System Restore feature.

Terri....well, I'm baffled....I've never had any of the problems you've described. I wonder if it has to do with the different OS. Oh well......whatever......at least you were able to work it out...YIPPEEEEEE! lol

Hey Terri, yes that is my conclusion too, that for removing Gamehouse games it is perhaps better to just use the Add/Remove program.

Good for you figuring it out!

BK ; what OS do you have? I have xp..(I am envious that you haven't had any difficulties with Gamehouse, etc)

I was very careful to only check the files that said Ancient Secrets to uninstall but it must have done something else. Interestingly after the Restore the game was showing as back on my computer but it wouldn't open.

This is why I haven't taken advantage of any of the free offers yet from this site. Unless I know exactly what it is and exactly what I'm doing, it may turn out to cost me a lot down the road.

What a nuisance...
I have had that too, restored and then found that the game wouldn't open.

I have had NO issues with games from THIS site.
Every game I got has been top notch...

But, I can understand your hesitation!

Yes I wondered what OS BK has and maybe it is the reason that she has no troubles?

Now I am off to work(ugh..lol)

Okay, that problem apparently is only with FireFox, because I just downloaded and installed it, as usual, with IE. I did email GameHouse Support about that issue, though - before attempting it with IE.

The download page looks the same to me as always. I have IE7. Tomorrow's game, Something Special, looks really interesting but it's a very large game. I'll have to hurry and remove a few more older games from my computer before I try to download it.

I use Vista 32 bit.

Correction......I never said I didn't have problems with Gamehouse.....or at least I didn't mean it to sound that way...lol What I was saying was that I've never had a problem with Revo. As for Gamehouse....I have issues every now and then; a game that just won't run, games that used to run and now they just freeze up my system, games that have "script errors" when the ads try to run, etc. As for the games from GOTD...I've had very few problems ever. In fact the only problem I can recall at all is that some games cause me a problem if they don't give you an option to use "custom cursors". In those games I can't see my mouse cursor unless I play in windowed mode, but then everything is so small I can't see it. But I think that's a Vista issue cause I don't recall ever having the problem with XP.

Sue....that looks like the same page as always to me too. I think what you're referring to is the choice to buy the game in order to have no ads.

What a drag about the cursor issue with vista..
I have XP but I also object(if a game won't let me use the normal computer cursor) because the custom cursors take up more memory which is something I haven't a lot of (in real life too...lol!)

YES, I get the script error message too and exactly who CARES if I can't see the ads!?

Merri....Yes, it is a drag. I do assume it's a Vista issue although I've never heard anyone else with Vista say it happened to them so I could be wrong. I have been wrong once or twice in my life - lol.

So I see I'm not alone in the script error thingy. Cool, I thought maybe it was just my system. Some of those ads are soooooo sickening. I know exactly where the little red box is gonna pop up and I sit there with my mouse just waiting to "zap" that sucker! Just like I kitten ready to pounce. :P

Knighthawk.....do you use that program? Just wondering if you have personal experience with it or are you just letting us know about it? Either way, thanks for the info.

BK, I guess it must be, but it is weird that more people don't mention that, because it sounds pretty major to have your cursor disappear!

LOL about memory..

Yes most of the ads are VERY sickening which is probably calculated to make us BUY the game..lol
For some reason I especially hate the U2one...(and I used to like U2!)
YES I too have the cursor POISED over the spot..lol!!!

FOR TERRI..

Are you going to be uninstalling old Gamehouse games???

It's always a balancing act for me about whether to keep a so-so game on the computer or remove it so I'll have more disc space. Especially the smaller ones because they seem to take up so little space. A lot of the HOG games are fun but I know I won't want to play them again any time in the near future because they are exactly the same game each time. I removed most of my BFG games because they are downloadable again (if their problems are finally fixed as they claim). I also took off all the WildTangent games which were back on my computer after the System Restore since they come with the computer. I have about 10 Gamehouse games on my hard drive right now but try to remove the ones I don't really love.

In regard to the cursor problem, that is why I couldn't play either of the Natalie Brooks games. The cursor covered such a large area, I couldn't see anything underneath it and didn't know where to click.

Hi Buckleysmom......yes I do use that program and to date have had no problems with it. I thought it was a good alternative for free and others who frequent this sight are also using it.

terri, yes isn't it nice to have Bigfish, "hold", ones games...
I used to worry that they would go under and then what would happen to ones games(if not on ones computer) but it looks like they are ok....
(It is interesting that they are letting people get games for 2.99 if the toolbar is installed; guess gamehouse is inspiring that move...)
Yes it certainly is a balancing act!
I managed to retrieve my Death on the Nile game and although it is a HOG it changes the objects each time (and I always thought it was a very fine production)
I will be interested to hear if Gamehouse let you just remove what games you want....
(fingers crossed!)

Buckleysmom..I have and use CCleaner too! It is a great little program and like Mike says, it's great for being free!

BK, it only did that when I was running Firefox. When I tried again with IE I saw the usual page.

Merri, speaking of sickening ads, mostfun.com has been airing the new Nintendo DS game, Rhythm Heaven, A LOT. It is getting so tiresome to watch that when it comes on I turn the volume off and find something to do while it's on. When it first start airing I thought it was interesting, but it has been shown so much I am totally turned off and would not buy it now, if I had a Nintendo game system.

My browser at the moment is K-Meleon

Perhaps your version of Firefox has a security add-on that clashes with the Gamehouse site.

Which version of the browser are you using ?
