Wizzard was unable to post a game for Monday due to being out of town, so he asked me to fill in. I only read his PM just before I was going to go to bed, so the following descriptions and resources have been thrown together very quickly. Thankfully pavid had sent me an Email with details of Scorched 3D, the other two games lead on from checking out some references about scorched earth. It’s a fantastic game for free. The graphics are better than what you see in the low resolution videos I’ve provided. There’s also several mod’s you can download from one of the links provided below, so the game is very expandable. Thanks pavid. Your timely email was very much appreciated. :)

Scorched Earth (47.4Mb)
Scorched 3D is a modernization of the classic DOS game Scorched Earth "The Mother Of All Games" on which it is based. Scorched 3D incorporates a lively three dimensional landscape that includes animated jets, naval vessels, water, and even birds, in addition to detailed tanks and projectiles. Other enhancements include LAN and internet play and music. Scorched 3D is totally free to play and is available for both Microsoft Windows and Unix (Linux, FreeBSD, Mac OS X, Solaris etc.) operating systems.Scorched 3D is a simple turn-based artillery game and also a real-time strategy game in which players can counter each others' weapons with other creative accessories, shields and tactics. Learn skill in timing, aiming and judgment, move around on the landscape, or even out-smart your opponent economically.
Learning how to play is easy, just point the turret, adjust power and trajectory, select a weapon - and shoot! Manage your inventory of weapons with the prize money you can win during each round of combat. Learn the basic controls using the tutorial mode, or set up your own game by customizing dozens of economy and environmental conditions to your liking, or simply play online immediately at one of the various public servers.
You can play with up to twenty four other players at a time, mixing computer players with humans on both randomly generated 3D landscapes and user designed maps. Scorched3D comes bundled with Apocalypse mod, which offers enhanced levels of weaponry and additional user designed maps and also offers an active online community of players making models, maps and mod’s for the game.
Scorched 3D is a game based loosely (or actually quite heavily now) on the classic DOS game Scorched Earth “The Mother Of All Games”. Scorched 3D adds amongst other new features a 3D island environment and LAN and Internet play. Scorched 3D is totally free and is available for both Microsoft Windows and Unix (Linux, FreeBSD, Mac OS X, Solaris, etc.) operating systems. You can pick up the game and begin playing very quickly. Then, when/if you are interested, you can poke in the dimmer recesses of the game and get into the strategy (or just ignore it altogether!).
At its lowest level, Scorched 3D is just an artillery game with two+ tanks taking turns to destroy opponents in an arena. Choose the angle, direction and power of each shot, launch your weapon, and try to blow up other tanks. That’s basically it. But Scorched 3D can be a lot more complex than that, if you want it to be. You can earn money from successful battles and use it to invest in additional weapons and accessories. You can play with up to twenty four other players at a time, mixing computer players with humans. There’s a variety of changing environmental conditions and terrains to be dealt with. After the end of each round (which ends when everybody dies or there’s only one person left), you get to buy stuff using the prize money you won from previous levels.

Scorched3D is based on the DOS original [b]Scorched Earth[/b and can be downloaded from Get the original Scorched Earth HERE. Though I think a game called howitzer was the first to use this concept. That is also available for free, but I’ll post that at a later date. :)

Nice game play and good gravitational physics. The game includes 5 worlds, 27 levels and many bonuses.
