AstroWar is a turn based strategy from Cornell University. It has a unique feature where the planets move around. So when sending ships to take over an enemy planet, you have to send them to where it will be in the future.
Quote:
Our player starts on one planet with moderate resources, some engineers, and a small army of marines. He may use the engineers to obtain resources and build infrastructure such as barracks and ship yards. These buildings can then be used to manufacture weapons, and to develop an army. A few other buildings such as missile turrets can be constructed to strengthen the defenses of the planet.
In order to attack other planets, the player must transport units to them via a transport ship, and then combat against that planet's ground units. Upon defeating other planets, the player will be able to colonize them, and use engineers to further develop them. Players may also attack other planets via inter-planetary missiles. However, in order to colonize the planet, engineers must be transported to the planet.
An interesting dynamic in the game is the dynamic nature of the playing field. The planets in the system orbit. Thus, players must use exploit the proximity changes to other planets in order to be successful.Inter-planetary missiles will have greater damage and accuracy at nearby planets. Steering a space craft to another planet will also be more challenging as players will have to account for their movements.
