   I remember, from my youth, a couple games I'd love to play again. They are Swiss Family Robinson and Above the Root. Both were for the C64. Has anyone out there seen them?

   Hi rayhne, You do have to pay to download games from the two sites above, even though the actual games are abandonware. Unfortunately I've searched most of the other abandonware sites with no luck. Most of the games on these sites are available elsewhere totally for free. I personally find it annoying that someone is asking for money for games that are not theirs and are supposed to be abandonware. Still, if you really want the game the fee is nominal. I think the second one may be accessible by visiting some advertising sites or writing a game review. :) I've forgotten which now as I don't use these site.

   Hi WR my mistake on those sites, didn't check properly.
   Below the Root is free at C64.com Below the Root

   S.F.R is free at planet emulation which is a french site but the game is English, just watch out for popups Planet Emulation - Les jeux video ont aussi leur histoire ! you have to scroll down the page to find the link.

   hi rayhne, yes they're c64 disc images. i used WinVice to make sure they worked but I'm not really into text adventures so didn't play them. I am going to look up the Green Sky Trilogy that Below the Root is based on though.

   p.s. there's a DOS version of BTR here Below The Root download

   Nice one mikerb. I obviously didn't check hard enough lol. I actually went to one of the sites you've linked to, but only checked for SFR, which it came up with a blank. I then got sidetraked when I found a n abandonware site I'd never came across, so spent the next half hour downloading more games for posting in the project. :) Found some excellent ones.

   I've really got too many to post. It's going to take years before I completely post all of them now that I'm only posting 3 days out of each 2 weeks.

   The Below the Root books are very good.

   Is there an emulator that works on Vista or XP?
