I’ve got three very interesting and different games for you today. One is only two levels long, so effectively is only a mini game, but I think you’re going to love it nonetheless and I called ‘And yet it Moves’ (an entry into this years IGF2009 competition), then we move on to the second game called ‘Synaesthete, a strange mix of action shooter and music game. This is one you’ll probably either adore or hate. Graphically it’s not up to much (though I like the psychedelic feel), but the game play IMO is great, and well worth a download if you like anything musical. Those on dial up should be okay, though it will be a few hours worth of download with a footprint of nearly 90Mb. The last game is my favourite of the three and is called Space Aggressor a strategy cum space shooter that will delight those into space shoot ‘em ups; thought the first one {And yet it Moves}, may very well be the better one, once a full version has been made. (It reminds me of the development of Tower of Goo to World of Goo story, (World of Goo was the second best selling game of 2008 only World of Warcraft beat it - I've posted a link to world of Goo in one of the other Week 17 posts) and I think it has the same potential....watch this space two years hence, I reckon it will be a hit when a full version with 60 or so levels and a levels editor are released; (we live in hope, lol). Only Syaeasthete has a full installer so you’ll have to unpack and then place the other two games manually, then create shortcuts. I’ve posted a tutorial on how to create desktop and start menu shortcuts in the games discussion forums (around page 8 now I think). All three games are keyboard controlled. Anyway, I've waffled on long enough.

And Yet it Moves: (12.9Mb)
This has been entered into the IGF 2009 awards which I think take place in March . There’s only two levels, but I though it was worth adding to today’s free games as an extra. The game play is addictive, and the game itself looks like it will be a winner when a full version ids released.
"And Yet It Moves" is basically a mixture between a jump and run and a puzzle game, with the extra ability to rotate the world. The player can run left, right and jump, but can also turn the world clockwise and counterclockwise by 90 degrees. When this happens physics works the following way: as soon as rotation starts all objects get frozen and after rotation objects continue to move with their velocities (direction and speed) they had before. With this ability you can move objects and yourself but also need to keep orientation and watch out for dangerous situations. Don't worry though, you're made out of paper so you can die as often as you want to.
The overall goal is to get through this collage of ripped paper. And if you are quick - and don't die too often - you might get a good rank in our global highscore list

Synaesthete: (89.71Mb)
Game developers surprise us day by day and this time we have found a really funny and enjoyable game. Its name is Synaesthete and means a new game concept where it is combined the action of combat games and the Guitar Hero music style.
You move the character by pressing WASD, but you need to press the fire button at an exact moment, the moment the musical note is played.
You will visit different rooms where several monsters will try to kill you; you will have to finish them all to pass to the next level.
The rhythm and flow of the music is expressed in every detail of the game, so that the visual and audio are not two experiences, but one. The music is great, and you can download it for free from the Official Site of Synasthete.

Space Aggressor:
Space Aggressor is a strategy game that combines the shooter genre with the idea of a Dungeon Keeper: YOU are the general in charge of all the spaceships attacking a mighty hero-pilot in space. That's right. Just blow this shiny b*****d away, destroy his all-too powerful ship and save the universe of another conceited and arrogant lone warrior.
Gameplay:
You are in charge of a small base, being able to produce spaceships with mighty weapons. If you act wisely and make economical decisions you will soon upgrade your small Fighters to impressive and deadly Reapers, Raiders, Bolts etc. Research more powerful weaponry and protect your ships with better shields.
You should always have an eye on your credits and resources, never stop to employ your workers for gaining additional money and material. If you combine the different ships strategically by choosing the best formation and time to attack, you will soon get rid of another not too glorious hero...
Space Aggressor can be played either alone or hot seat with another player. In this mode, one player will play with the mouse and take over the strategic part of the game, the other will play the hero and try to destroy all of the incoming ships. 1000000 miles has the hero to travel and if he succeeds, a bomb will destroy the base.
By selecting which part of the hero ship is being attacked, the strategic player can twist fate really fast by 180 degrees. A damaged engine will decrease the traveling speed of the hero, whereas a damaged primery weapon will decrease the firing rate of the ship.
Gameplay tips:
Tip 1: When you right click on an add/subtract-button of your workers, you add/subtract 50 workers at once instead of only 10. This makes distribution much faster.
Tip2: Upgrade your Base at least until you have two Production Slots - So you always can produce a ship and upgrade a feature at the same time.
Tip3: The small disks beside the Tech-button are Quicksave/Quickload buttons. You can use these to get back to an earlier situation during the game.
Tip4: If you don't like the music, or are just bored by it, you can either change the track on the right upper corner or stop the background music in general.
Tip5: Always have an eye on your credits. Use the biggest amount of workers for the Sales, so you will gain money faster. You will need it!
Tip6: When playing the hero, run for every upgrade you can get. Shoot the steroids, they sometimes have upgrades, too. Keep an eye on your shield. If your shield is down, you are an easy prey. Engine and shield regenerate themselves over time. You will travel faster if you collect the upgrade with the fast-forward sign on it. The sooner you get to the base, the better...
Tip7: When the hero launches his evil superrocket, you'll just have to hit him once with any weapon and the process will be cancelled.
