The following games are the rest of those I said I would post today with a few additions. You’ll be getting two large games tomorrow, one was a big game 15 or so years ago and has been updated, the other one , well, you’ll find out tomorrow. Please note that most of these games come without installers so you’ll need to create a folder to unzip the files into, then create a shortcut from the games executable. You can find a tutorial in the games discussion thread that tells you how to create a desktop and a start menu shortcut.

Seizure Dome: 4.4Mb

Seizuredome is a new remake of Unholy Stage, the arena shooter released by cactus back in 2007. The objective of the game is to stay away the edge of the screen, which can be rather complicated when enemies are attempting to push you off the suspended platform at every opportunity.
Use the cursor keys to move, and hold the left mouse button to shoot. Right click for an alternate firing method, applicable to all weapons available for acquisition from vanquished enemies.
Like all the other shooters by Cactus Software, Seizure Dome has an incredibly unique look. This top-down arena shooter constantly tries to push you off the screen by throwing crying babies, flabby men, and angry ladies at you. Don’t let chubby babies and men in diapers be the boss of you. Kill them, increase your score combo, and collect power-ups to blast them back.

At its heart, Echoes is a Asteroids/Geometry Wars clone, but blasting enemies to smithereens while needling your way through bullet hell is always fun. Your ship’s movements follow your mouse cursor, which allows you to bob and weave through the waves of hostile shapes with ease as you blow them to bits. The old school difficulty gives Echoes that "just once more" factor as you try to top your high score or beat another grueling challenge. Protoganda Strings:

Protoganda is another artsy shooter from Cactus Software, the creators of Ad Nauseum 2. This one cuts to the chase and plays out like an epic boss battle. The purposefully added scratch lines and blurred focus makes it look like an old film print. Check it out by hitting the link above.

According to the creator, Protoganda was meant to look like an older movie with special effects made without the aid of computers. Protoganda's purposefully grainy look makes it look like you're watching a scratchy film projected onto a screen. Very interesting!

You would have to be mad not to download this game! It is by far the best freeware title I have played in a very long time (if not ever) personal opinion of the author.

I just cannot believe how many games I've found either through following links through or from those posted by others. The one by Albesir for example has lead on to a treasure trove of games. I've seen some, but not all.

Things are getting manic here on my computer as I've finally decided to install all the games I bought over the last month, and then I went to renew my filefront subscription only to find they are giving me Comany of heroes which I'd bought several months ago anyway. I may give that away at some point. May have a competition or something, lol. While renewing my subscription I noticed they now accept PayPal for their Direct to Drive downloads so I proceeded to buy three more games ( as if the mass of games I've already bought and some great games I've downloaded from the free stuff -a couple are coming tomorrow). They included Gumball tournament, Mount & Blade (half price special offer) and Dark Horizon a superb {graphically at any rate} space shooter. I've been playing Mount & Blade and was really impressed with it. It's cost me $19.99, which is the same price as an arcade game yet it's far superior to an arcade game, with two game modes strategic and third person. I only saw it advertised the other day for over $40 so am really pleased. As for Gumball, it's fantastic and as good as the original Crazy Adventures. You can play friends on LAN or even on the internet if you wish, or just play against the computers AI. I though I was winning my first game (set on easy) and discovered the computer opponent had collected twice as much as me. There's four modes of play and loads of levels that are used for each mode. Thanks, I'll check it out. Sounds like you spend more time collecting games then playing them! Tho I'm sure that's not the case. It's been ages since I've actually 'bought' a game, especially since discovering this great site. My problem is actually playing a game all the way through, tho yes, I have done that... especially with things like the Myst series, where if you let it go for too long you've almost got to start over to get back in the flow. But I must have at least 20 "fun" games going that I hop back and forth to like lily-pads. Can't really get immersed in a biggie, as I never know when I'll get a job in and have to put it aside. And boy, that drives me nuts. Lol! I actually have to 'hide' all the game icons from myself, or at least put them out of view. Ah, the temptation. :)

I do play games every day, but I do feel that I've become somewhat of a kleptomania, using my imposed house arrest as an excuse for buying whatever takes my fancy. I'm afraid that that is just wasting a lot of money though as I cannot pssibly get through all the games I've bought in the last three years which come to around a staggering 1200 games, a few hundred of which are big bucks games such as Call of Duty 5 etc. I jsut don't seem to be able to stop myself, lol.

Wow....that's a fair amount of games. A friend of mine had a collection of original Playstation games until last year. I think he said he had over 270 games, and more than 3/4 of them were RPGs, and pretty much every rare RPG you could find. I think he only kept a few of the more rare ones and had to sell the rest.

Me and my dad got into buying saxophones when I got really into music(and he was getting back into it), and then a little bit into clarinets as my sister played clarinet and we have to have a working knowledge of it for jazz bands. And we ended up with about a dozen saxophones(7 altos, 2 tenors, a soprano, and a baritone unless I forgot one), 5 clarinets, and 2 flutes(mom picked them up at yard sales even though no one in the family knows how to play them-I plan on learning though), and a full sized keyboard. Plus, that doesn't include all the mouthpieces, reeds, sheet music, maintenance, and other assorted items. And that's probably a good starting point to see why my family and I are always broke.

So, I can see where you can end up with a whole lot of games. If I had the money I'd probably be able to spend a truck load of money on just console games, which I prefer and probably wouldn't see the computer all that often, not to mention the outside of my room. Besides, I think it's supposed to be good for your health to do something called "exercise" every day but I'm not big on the whole health thing.

Oh wow, that must be an amazing collection. We bought an Alto sax for my son (cost about £300), and we're getting a clarinet or a flute for Emily sometime this year as she's now old enough to join the Music for Schools project. I've always liked the saxaphone and keep trying it myself, but I'm not dedicated enought to learn it properly.

I was always keen on keeping myself fit. I cycled around 40 miles per day up to the day of my accident, now I'm almost house bound. Though I'm hoping to be taken to a cycles exhibition sometime in the first quarter as they exhibit different types of recumbant bike, which I think I may be able to use; but don't want to be spending several thousand on one if it's not going to work for me. Apart from that I'm determined to get back out and climb a mountain before I die though, lol.

Ha, I don't think I can say I want to climb a mountain anytime soon. I went straight into music school out of high school, and stayed there for a year of college. It was in the middle of the mountains, and my dorm was on top of a huge hill so I had to climb a mountain every day for class. I remember my good old student model alto. I wish they were all that cheap. Professional saxes range from $2500 to $7-8000(though we don't have any that cost more than $3500) so it gets expensive really quickly. I get the luxury of being a semi-professional(that's what the big band/dance band I'm in calls itself, since it's not a great band, ok but not great, and we don't really travel very far or put out CDs or anything). We don't get payed much for gigs, usually about enough to cover gas, but we don't really do it for the money anyway.

P.S. Since the saxes all have to be able to play clarinet, we come up with some pretty nasty names for it. I usually call it "the black stick of death." I wish I could play it better but I'm not all that motivated to practice it beyond getting my part down, well, I guess that goes for saxophone as well, I've just never been all that motivated to practice much(part of why music school didn't go so well).

I was never all that into riding a bike either, probably cause I had an over protective mother who wouldn't let me ride a bike outside the yard(which is no fun at all on a half acre lot, plus we always had dogs that dug holes in the yard, making it hard to keep going anyway, trees with roots sticking out of the ground, and my mom liked to have gardens randomly around the yard). So really by the time my mom let up a bit I was into activities that didn't involve much exercise, such as playing games.

Gee, we're a flute and saxophone family also... my hubby's from high school is a Selmar Alto Sax from Paris worth a bit of $ at this point I would guess; and my daughter is the proud owner of a beautiful flute that now lies dormant, with my hopes of a reawakening some fine day. She switched over to the oboe in the school orchestra because no one else could play it, so she promptly taught herself.

But back to the games: WhiteRabbit, have you (or anyone else) looked into Eternal Daughter yet? There's a note in the game folder that says, quote: "In order to play Eternal Daughter in a window, create a shortcut to the executable. Edit the target, and add "-NOF" to the end of it." Well, I've tried opening the shortcut's properties and adding "-NOF" to the line in the Target box; adding it to the target itself; adding it to both, and nothing seems to work. And I'm probably misunderstanding the directions, period. Is anyone familiar with what that means and how to do it? Thanks in advance for all the answers I'll get. *oO0]:-D

Hope he has an answer soon Midori. That was my question too; I did all the same things you did and nothing worked. It's probably something simple!! :} You sure can't play the game with half the screen gone off each side! Happy New Year every one!

Happy New Year to you, 2sweetcamom! Or I hope the directions work on newer computers... sure sounded strange. And if you change something, it usually has to be done in Notepad or the like in the programming... not on an .exe file or a shortcut to one. So I hope someone can make sense of it. I also tried changing my screen resolutions, but the program just kept gulping up the whole screen. :D

sorry, I tried as many ways as I could think of, but it doesn't make sense to me to change the target name, because that just tells the computer what program to open. There would have to be a program called "C:/.....eternaldaughter-NOF" for that to work. With some games, they were made to be installed and later someone makes a standalone version, so maybe there was originally another .exe file installed, or maybe there was another one in the folder at some point. My computer won't even let me change the name in the target box, so I can't really do anything about it. Sorry I can't be of any help there.

P.S. If he has an old Mark VI, some of them are worth a lot of money. Everyone loves the old Mark VI series, and some of the early ones are more expensive now than just about any new horns you can find on the market. There are some other notable ones worth some money, but that's a deep and highly detailed discussion that seems to bore people that don't care much about saxophones. Anyway, if I ever have any kids I plan on forcing them into playing music(not really, I hope they'll like it on their own, I may make them take it for at least a year, but probably wouldn't force it beyond that). I hope your daughter gets back into it, because playing music is a great thing.

You're right, albesir... it really doesn't make sense, as there's no programming that would respond to just typing that in. Just changing the names of even both of them does nothing. It's like a command with nothing to respond to it. Thanks for confirming, tho...

As for the music, she went into it naturally, and it's great when kids do that. Perhaps all my singing (hey, kids don't care if it's off-key, lol) and comparing instruments to animal sounds paid off (as in Peter and the Wolf... luv those "duck" and "cat" instruments), but who really knows. But she moved on to teaching herself the piano and guitar! So hopefully the flute was just "resting" for now. ;)

This is the only place I could find(though I'm sore you could find more with some more searching) and it's a PDF file you download. It seems pretty comprehensive, but I haven't looked over it that much(since I haven't played the game much, not being a platform games kind of guy). Hope that helps.

Hi Wabbit, I know you've been busy but did you have a minute to think about our problem with Eternal Daughter? We can't get the screen resolution to where we can see enough of the screen to play the game. There is a note that comes along with the game that advises "make a shortcut for the exe and then add -NOF to the target" something like that. Midori and I both went through everything we could think of adding it and nothing worked. Any ideas? Thanks.

Well, I tried again, and even looked online for some stuff....I did find a place about Multimedia Fusion .exe files that has a list of command lines that you can supposedly use to activate/deactivate features.

However, Eternal Daughter was specifically mentioned in the discussion and the guy who wrote the article didn't know what the problem was either, so I don't really know if there's a solution. Then, after seeing someone say to try alt+enter(it's a common command for windowed mode I think), I wondered if it was supposed to enable the option and so I tried alt+enter, and if you've changed the name of either the .exe file or the shortcut to include "-NOF" the whole game closes. I don't know if this is an error or something, if it's trying to go to windowed mode and can't for some reason, or if maybe there's a compatibility error but I tried and failed again. I don't remember when the game was made or for what operating system it was originally made, so compatibility could be an issue with some of the command options. So, I searched on the internet for quite a while and tried everything I could think of to try to get the windowed mode to work. I'll try to search a bit more but unless Whiterabbit or someone else figures another way out, I'm thinking it's not possible. Sorry guys.

actually, I experimented a bit more and I came up with something.....

if you run the program under Windows 98/ME compatibility mode and then rename the .exe file(not the shortcut) with -NOF(has to be capitalized) you get a kind of window at the top left of your screen, and the rest of the screen resolution is messed up, though if you clickon something else it minimizes the game and returns resolution to normal. If you click on the game again though, it goes to a strange view of the game, which is basically a black screen with the game in the middle of it, surrounded on all sides by black. I don't know if this will help anyone, but if it makes the game smaller so you can see the whole thing, hopefully it will help a bit.

NOTE: I'm running Windows XP SP3, so I don't know if that'll work on Vista computers, or if there are any problems on Vista.

Hi, albesir... thanks for all your experimentation with this. You know what? While messing about with it, I actually did get that black screen with the game window in the middle of it, and it was while I was messing around with resolution, compatability modes, and the -NOF command. But darned if I could remember how I did it and replicate it later. I have Windows XP SP2 (something keeps me from upgrading that), so I'll try what you did and see if I can do it again. BTW, when you add the -NOF, do you add it before the .exe? I.e.: Eternaldaughter-NOF.exe, or Eternaldaughter.exe-NOF. Lol! Being somewhat of a dimwitty about computer speak doesn't help either. :-P

no, what I mean is to rename the game file, it's originally "Eternal Daughter", and you can right click and rename it to "Eternal Daughter-NOF"(so, yes, it would be before the .exe) And that's the game file itself, not the shortcut. When I just named the shortcut, it didn't do anything, and I'm not able to change the name in the target screen(in shortcut properties) since that file didn't ever exist. I still can't figure out what it has to do with the shortcut, since renaming the shortcut did nothing, and it wont let me change the target of the shortcut, because a file with the name you put in has to exist before it will let you create a shortcut to it.

Anyway, let me know if that helps, or if you have any other questions(and I'll try to answer if I can, though I'm not really that great with computers).

Hi, albesir... yep, I did mean the game .exe file. I can change the text in properties/target by clicking on it, but you're right... it has to match the actual .exe file to even "connect." So at one point I changed both to -NOF (before the exe), but it came up just as before... gulping up the whole screen. I believe you really can see enough to play that way, but smaller is so much clearer. But I really think those instructions re: adding the -NOF pertain to something that's no longer there, as if there should be another .exe file there for windowed. I noticed some of the older games are set up that way: and .exe for fullscreen, and an .exe for windowed; whereas in the newer games you can choose from the menu. So something is missing there, imo.

Isn't this fun playing detective? Tho in my case, I feel like a bit of a fumblebum. Lol! *|:-b

From what I can deduct, the NOF does nothing. I think there used to be, at one time, another exe in the file that would have worked. Seems this game is from 2002 or there about. I tried the classic gaming link and couldn't find anything either and for some reason the indiefaqs link won't either. I know it did beause I have recently added it to my BM's.

I turned on my Returnil and just played with resolutions in Display. I got it to work with the game in the middle and black screen around it with a resolution of 800X600. I am using XP SP3.

NOW... To figure out how to play ..... I am such a dolt with these types of games. One day the light bulb is going to come on..I hope. Of course as most of you know the pain meds dim everything.

Thanks, delenn13... seems we're all in violent agreement on this! An .exe files is missing! As the detective table nods in agreement, 2sweetcamom is still hoping for a miracle cure. ;)
Now. As for how to play??? I haven't the foggiest! Been too busy trying to fix it. Tho I do recall having the slave girl jump out of the ditch and save her mom from the guy with the big yellow teeth before I got into the display problem. The control keys are listed somewhere... but I think it's the kind of platform where you walk around and see if someone will talk to you and take it from there. A "search for what to do next." And those usually get easier as you get into the gist of the game. So on with more detective work, it seems. :)

I've downloaded it, but it looks like one that you will have to print out and study! Haven't wanted to think about that, but obviously the first thing you are supposed to do is go left and repeatedly hit a Boss. Stupid me went right and got nowhere.

Thanks, NolafromNZ! Yes, after going right, I tried taking a left and bopped the boss with the yellow teeth. Lol. But that's as far as I've gotten, tho I haven't played since. I don't use walkthroughs unless it's been five days and I'm down to one hair, but it's nice to know it's there! Thanks for the link!

Albesir had posted that link further up in the thread. Just last night it wouldn't open. This morning it did..

Yea, Nola, I did the "right" thing also and just spun my wheels.

Midori, when they first discovered my thyroid stopped working, I was loosing hair on my own..I don't need a game to help me do it.

Since I am such a simpleton with these games, now for some reading. Thinking in or out of the box isn't an option sometimes with my pain meds.
