I thought it was about time we had some more point and click adventures. These don’t seem as popular as they were several years ago, but I think the following two games are good examples of the genre. The first one calledOut of Order is a classic {as evidenced by the plethora of you tube videos available}. I’ve posted a whole series of videos below, as it basically encompasses the whole game in around three hours of game play, and makes a good walk through for those that are stuck. The series is divided up into 20 manageable chunks; though as I point out below, this was done by someone who knew what to do immediately at every turn, {probably had a written walkthrough, or had played it a few times} so you can multiply the game play time by at least four or five times that; which makes it a decent length. The graphics are drawn in a gorgeous cartoon style that both adults and children will love and the story line is quirky at times, which what makes this game so endearing. It’s well worth downloading in my opinion. This is one everyone should have in their games library.
The second game, called Conspiracy of Zongo, is not as good in my opinion, the story line is okay, but the graphics let it down a little, but some may disagree. I was going to add a third abandonware title to the list, but then thought that it deserved a separate post all of it’s own as it was actually a big game in the early to mid nineties. I’m probably going to post it sometime next week as Wizzard and I have decided to share the week. I’m thinking of still posting one every day, so you’ll get two very different games on the days that Wizzard is posting his choices, though it depends upon how busy I’m going to be over the Christmas period (lol). Anyway, here are details of the two games I’m posting for today:

Out of Order: (8.37Mb)
Here’s a well respected point and click adventure. It’s got excellent game play, hard puzzles and gorgeous colorful 2D graphics. It’s now five years old, but it holds it own against loads of commercial games that I’ve bought over the last three years (IMO); and is well worth a download at less than 10Mb in size. I installed this last year but stopped playing it when I first got stuck, (don’t ask as I’d be embarrassed to say, lol). I think it’s an ideal game for the free weekday’s games project. Please do tell me what you think; and if anyone finishes it, please tell me approximately how long you took to finish it. :)
The following information about the game was copied from the home site:

No adventure game is complete without a collection of oddities with which you can interact. Well... some adventure games are complete without a collection of oddities with which you can interact, but they tend to be brain-numbingly dull. You’ll meet the following characters in this game:
Sylvia Jjones-Jjjones
Hurford's neighbour, she's famous for being famous and isn't quite sure what she does for a living. Or, for that matter, her age.Bob Spleckly
Owns an electrical store in the shopping centre. A thoroughly reasonable chap at heart, his passion is his catalogue of electronic gadgets and he can't quite cope with the concept of people not knowing exactly what they want to buy.Gregor Renchant
To call him a barman would probably be an exageration, despite the fact that he's a man standing behind a bar. Creator of strange drinks, owner of a strange fruit machine and an even stranger accent and wearer of a strange goatee, he's never quite understood authenticity but makes up for it with... frankly, grime. And more besides...
Meet The Town's resident underground journalist... the junk-food junkie hired to perform tasks which have been rated as too dull for computers... security guards intent on ruining your fun... the one-eyed alien doctor, complete with horns and an irritating lisp... the badly constructed Roboceptionist 8000™... and talking computers galore!

You Tube videos of game play:
The following are a collection of videos that taken in their entirety comprises of a complete visual walkthrough of the game that totals just over 169 minutes (nearly 3 hours), but individually give a very good impression of what to expect. That’s not to say that you’d complete the game in three hours as the game has been videoed with virtually instant solutions to all the puzzles found within the game. It’s going to take a considerable longer time for the average arcade player to complete this game unless they cheat by watching all of the videos below.

Conspiracy of Songo: 20.4Mb
Conspiracy of Songo" uses a very simple point & click interface: Left-Click to interact/talk/walk, Right-Click to examine objects. The inventory is displayed constantly at the bottom of the screen.
Something troubling is lurking in this strange town, a tale of mystery and intrigue, and a theft! Well murder would work in this context but not this time around. Anyway it's time to check out Conspiracy of Songo, a pretty good adventure game with an interesting story, good music and some pretty good graphics overall. The game itself is a nice challenge that brings you in the story and lets you go on a detective search to find out the truth.
The story starts out simple enough Jerry and Sheila our two main characters in this game are out on a boat ride, the two have gotten close as of late, that's when trouble strikes. First, a shark chases them, causing them to crash their boat, leaving them stranded. Jerry goes off in search for some help before some undercover detectives jump him and accuse him of stealing the artifact known as Songo. Jerry denies he never stole such an item but they do not believe him and drag him away to prison. That is when Sheila will soon learn of what happens to her boyfriend and now must go off and free him.
Graphically the game looks nice, it's a different kind of art style that the developer decided to use and some may be put off by it. I myself liked it, not the best graphics though I will admit but for the game itself and the mystery and strangeness I think it does the job effectively. Musically the tunes that are used in game are good overall. Some are catchy and they do not overstep their bounds and make you take your attention from the game or anything. Story wise the game goes through some interesting plot changes as you try to discover the mystery of this missing item and where it has ended up, the story will draw you in quickly.
Other than some easy puzzles and maybe the odd time of navigation, error of moving your character around which is minor and only happened maybe once. This game overall was all around a fun experience to try out even counting the cliché story experience that there is with solving a mystery again! Still check it out, if you are an adventure fan, its called Conspiracy of Songo, give it a try.

- 21 interactive characters.
- A lot of animations.
- Atmospheric music and sound effects.
Downside is a low 640x480 resolution, but this shouldn’t be a problem
