Today’s main game is called Snap (no not the card game), it’s a simple game of skill; the developer’s description below aptly describes how you play the game. But you’ll get why it’s called snap when you play it. When you first start up the, you have to fill in the name you want to use. Then click on the register button. Then you can play. There is no options menu but you can select to ply in full screen or windowed mode from the start up screen. The interface is excellent, and the game is challenging enough to fill in those idle minutes in between writing reports. It’s not as exciting as yesterday’s game, but there aren’t too many of those types of games around unless you’re willing to pay some money.
Snap: (2.97Mb)
As with many other puzzle games, the goal of Snap is to keep the board from filling with colored tiles. You pull back on a ball that's attached to the wall with an elastic rope, then release to launch the ball into the tile area. The ball will destroy even single tiles, but if you hit one in a block of same-colored tiles, the whole block disappears. The unique visual effects make it feel more like you're flinging rubber bands than shooting projectiles. If you pull back too much, too little, or at a poor angle, the ball won't even hit the board. To make the game even more challenging, bonus bricks blow up their neighbors, smash the tiles below them in the row, or speed up the ball. We found no evidence of ad ware, but the installation does put two promotional icons* on your desktop. Also, if your graphics card is out of date, Snap runs too slowly to play. Still, we found it hard to think of someone who wouldn't like this fun little piece of freeware.
* The promotional icons can be easily deleted and in no way affects the integrity of your computer in anyway.

I thought I’d throw in another simple, but entertaining game called Sudoku King (48.5Kb)
. There’s loads of these available around the WWW, but I found this one has all I need to play the game. It’s got a super simple interface, with no frills, comes with no options and is in the windows format only. Definitely ideal for hiding in between multiple windows (if needed, lol). You can generate, solve and even print out your puzzles if you wish.
