Johnny Appleseed can wander around the south 40 without a compass cause he knows the lay of the land. He's got a pretty good sense of direction and often checks to see which way the moo cows are facing. So, how well do you Know Your World?
TIP: Remember, close doesn't only count in horseshoes... and SPEED COUNTS, too.

Nice one Runsage magi. Would you also post it over in the Browser games thread. Thanks

I only say that because it's likely to get buried.

Will do, Wabbit, though I kinda felt it (and probably other such edu-games) deserved differentiation (somehow?) from the typical arcade and casual game threads. That said, you're right about falling off the page. Most of the links threads either get clogged with chit chat comments (although I seemed to be the only one who gave a damn about that) or they fall off the page... and newbies don't get a Rosetta Stone in their welcome wagon packet.
Q: Do you know if the suggestion to create some sort of Sticky Directory for certain threads was ever entertained by the guys behind the curtain? (as if they don't have enough to do)
FWIW, I started working on a Themed Thread Dir for my RUNE web site many moons ago, but never got round to displaying it, much less keeping it up-to-date. Another idea I thought some enterprising member who enjoys thankless nonpaying jobs might tackle - create a FURL list of THEME Links. Last I checked, the skeleton outline had grown to encompass these THEMES (subject to input from the regulars):
ART
- FRACTALS
- Image Editing
ASTRONOMY
ENTERTAINMENT
- FREE EBOOKS/PODcasts
- FREE LIBRARIES
- FREE MOVIE/TV/RADIO/MUSIC sites
FONTS
FREEWARE COMPENDIUM
GAMES
- Educational/Kids
- Jigsaw Puzz
NATURE GALLERIAS
FREE ONLINE STORAGE/HOSTING

Good point. Maybe call it educational browser games. There are lots of wod and numbers games as well as well as trivia etc. Still, it will be nice to have them posted in both places. That way it's more likely to be used or copied to peoples bookmarks. :)

I still owe you an email, lol.

Don't sweat it... I still owe Maizey something from TWO(!) months ago. Life's getting in the way big time. That, and a poorly written install exe for a non-GAOTD appl that obliterated a totally different GAOTD appl (MediaResizerPro) that's stored on a different partition!
(I didn't believe it either, but it's actually a replicable error. It even erased the trial replacement I downloaded yesterday as a test. And, YES, I am writing a scathing rant to the other software developer.)
This is one of those times I wish I could obtain the elusive "reg code" since I only used that software twice. No way I can justify paying $79 for it.Posted 16 years ago # -
