Paulga, let me correct you, that island contains Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland a.k.a. E.I.R.E.
They are very much joined.
So The Republic is joined (next to) to a United Kingdom country.
I live in Tonbridge, Kent England, unfortunately.

Lee.....why do you say "unfortunately"?
Hey, maybe this thread should be combined with the "How old are you?" thread then we could get all the details about each other at once. I can see it all now......next we'll share emaill adresses, then snail mail adresses, then pictures.....then we'll be meeting for lunch.....then we'll all fall in love and have a whopping big GOTD wedding ceremony.....then the pitter patter of little GOTD feet and then.....hmmmmmm, on second thought......let's not!

Ontario, Canada, here. About 30 minutes from Niagara Falls and 10 minutes from Niagara Falls on the shores of Lake Erie. (If I had known, I would have waved Maizey.)
BK, It could happen. I met my husband(That is how I got transplanted from Florida) on the net and next year it will be 10 years we have been married. And NO...no patter of tiny rugrat feet are planned.

Lee.........i see where you are going! but from where i am standing, we have Ireland as an Island, not joined by England which is also an Island, however, part of Ireland which is the north east, there are six Counties that are ruled by England, and not all the Counties in the North are ruled by England, only the six Counties, hopefully when Scotland becomes into it's own, it being only 12 miles off the coast of the six Counties we shall be able to say that we are all celts? .....smile

Counties are part of Britian.
British flag, contains, Northern Ireland, Scotland and England.
Wales is a principality of England.
England does not rule Scotland or Northern Ireland or Wales, they are part of the United Kingdom.
Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland all have their own parliament, England does not.
The Houses of Parliament are in England, however this does not mean England rules over any other country in the United Kingdom.
Well BM, I wrote 'unfortunately', due to the fact where I live is full of bigots, homophobes, chavs and racists.
I have applied for a transfer as we are subjected on a daily basis to racial abuse, but, as per usual they say the list is too long.
My house has severe damp, needs lots of repairs and is very small, no room to swing a cat.
Thats why.
I hope that come Jan 2009, a new option will come along and I hope to have good news then.

Lee, what do you mean you've applied for a 'transfer'?? Transfer to where? Can't you just move or does the UK control where you can live?
Posted 16 years ago # -
Lee you know that we all are curious about everything, that includes your garden and house too
Posted 16 years ago # -
Folks.....thats right put Lee on a spot...smile!.......everyone has been sniffing around MY GARDEN....hint...hint, but if you don't have a garden, your surroundings? Lee our posts are getting more like a riddle?......and a puzzle to those living further abroad ?

Copmom.....not only have I moved to all those cities, I have lived in some of them multiple times, as well as moving within many of them multiple times. I'm all moved out! Too bad I am in AZ and most of my belongings are in NC. Can I talk you into U-Hauling my stuff out here (no furniture), and I'll pay for the trip here? C'mon....I'll even let you play my pinball machines after we unload them.

___________________________________________________________Give me just a rough estimate.....about how many cats a day do you swing in your house?

You have been around haven't you creamypretzel! My father was a site mgr and we lived all over the USA building Nuclear Power Plants. I hated it but got to see the country though.

BK I see you like bears. I'm afraid I still have a ton of beanies!! Rubbermaid tubs come in handy!
Pretzel.. the pinball machine offer is mighty tempting, but the price of gas now stifles the thought of U-Hauling. Sowwy. I think it will be cheaper for you to just move back to NC and forget hauling everything.Posted 16 years ago # -
Copmom...I used to sell Beanie Babies. People would say to me, "I'm gonna put my kids through college with these!"
I would always tell them to only buy them at retail, and only because they liked them. I warned them that if they paid too high a price they would regret it later. Common sense told me that a $5 Ty Beanie selling for $75, of which millions were made, would not hold its value. Now I've seen them on eBay as low as 75 cents a piece with perfect tags.
From experiencing the Beanie market, I predicted the current U.S. housing market disaster. Two completely different things, but they had a lot of the same characteristics. Common people thinking they'd get rich, investors who have no interest in the item sold, prices way too high, etc.
By the way. When I sold Beanies, I was in the Asheville area. I still have some of them in that storage unit I mentioned. Luckily I always paid retail or less.
