Maizey....Yep....you got it!
BK-1 Lens cap
Ugh! Try to find a prize for "the girl who has everything" at least when it comes to web stuff.....lol. Well, maybe this is one you haven't tried....
Your prize: Filler
Aw, BK, couldn't see you post so this is just a boost to the next page.
-----------------------
No wonder I didn't recognize it. It is different. That sure was a tough one!
Thanks for the game. I just got 61.something %. Not good enough yet! Got to try again! :)
Thanks Maizey...I almost re=posted b/c I refreshed a couple times but couldn't find the post.
BTW...I saw your post a ways back about calling me BM.....I appreiacte the decision to not use that shortcut :) BK is FAR better!
That was ROUGH! No wonder, I don't have a Sony! And I agree.. BK is much nicer than the alternative!! LOL
Copmom.....It never occurred to me that the caps on other brand cameras would be so different. Both of ours just happen to be Sony....... and here I thought I'd' never be able to come up with something that wouldn't be guessed right off the bat. Just shows to go ya! I'll stick with BK ;)
and all mine are integrated, the ricoh's is much like the hp 517.

off to the tub, ta!
Goody......yeh I figured a few people would have integrated caps and might not recognize this kind......didn't mean to make it so hard. I'll try to go easier next time ;)
I always thought the inside of that cap was interesting, I've actually just sat and looked at it, pressed the little snappy things that hold it on, looked at the swirly springy things....guess it kinda mesmerized me.......doesn't take much to entertain a simple mind......lol
just checking in. hadda give terri the phone when she got back, but back in I go. I'm impressed by those lens caps, the other methods aren't as good imho. Those seem better than the ones I saw back in the shutterbug film days.
When I get out, I think I'll test your skills at identification of odd things once more.
Here is MD-What Is It? #40. It's common but not found in a home. You would normally have to leave the house to see this one.
MD40.....looks like a parking meter to me
BK, not a parking meter.
who in the world chromes parking meters, then has a minimum of 3 coin slots the same size in a row?
aside from not grokking the use of the threaded hole, I'm calling those air vent slots or a put-1-quarter-in-each-slot vending mech.
first bounce was a blender, but out of the house? could be a hand dryer in a ladies room just looking at the wear patterns and shape.
see, that's part of the trick. I've seen lens caps a'plenty. just not that kind, or in a long time. I got fooled by inverting the perspective and getting fixated on a trough, that's all.
maizey had the lamp nailed, and I didn't know it.
goody, it's a put-1-quarter-in-each-slot BUT not a vending machine. You are so close!
BK also stands for Burger King! #40, Is that some kind of a bank?
copmom, not a bank.
It feels strange calling Buckleysmom BK. I had a boss who we called BK. Of course his first name was Bob...just like 75% of the guys in this forum!
Goody.......well gee, ya don't have ta yell at me.....I was only guessing :) I can't even remember the last time I used a parking meter, but I did think it looked a bit too shiny and not shaped quite right, but there's so many new things out there I figured I'd take a stab at it. Off hand I can't think of anything that takes 3 qtrs at once....usually you put in one at a time. Looks like a keyhole on top, course anythng you put money into would have that. It does look familiar.
Is it a newspaper dispenser thingy.....whatever they're called,
or an air machine (for filling your tires)......but they're not usually shiny chrome either....
how bout a juke box.....the private kind that is at each table/booth like some older diners had. There's actually one about 7 miles form here, but again I can't remember if it takes 3 qtrs at once.
You could call me BU or Buc or Bmom or Rox.....just not that other thing....lol
Nope......don't think it's a keyhole......I think it's a button.
BU is short for:
Meaning
Back Up
Bargaining Unit
Base Unit
Bilkent University
Billing Unit
Binary To Unary
Bogazici University
Boston University
Bradley University
Brandon University
Bright Uncirculated
Brilliant Uncirculated
Broken Up
Buffalo Field Office
Burndy
But You
Butler University
BU, none of the above. You put more than money into this thing...only coins go in the slots though.
now, I gotta call that a conundrum indeed, as by vending company definitions if it took money from the public unattended and provided a service it should be, and if it dispensed something in return it was a vending machine, period.
how are you defining it?
Now, there were places they were kept out of, but never because they didn't define it as things-we'd-take-over-inna-heartbeat. vending salesmen are the worst you'd ever *not* want to get stuck to.
In one of your heartbeats.
So by pro rules, generally government or quasi-gubbmint things like the aforementioned parking meters, access turnstiles, gambling above toys (Oregon vending is pretty much toast and I'm disabled due to the state lottery getting into video slots) and transit ticket stuff we were locked out of.
anything else depended on the salesman. he got the location, management found the machines, routemen filled and emptied and us grunts kept 'em running.
[coin-op toilet stalls, condom/tampon/lighter dispensers and air-and-water pumps were niche operations- x-rated and other movies took a building full, like CO laundrys.]
Shame? no. not vending, ever. I've worked on cig machines in ladies rooms in the middle of party time. Risky? T-wards at Napa, where you took an escort to watch your back. Or to make sure your keys were safe, sometimes I wondered.
coin-op shoe polisher?
Maizey...... You put more than money into this thing
Now you've really got me baffled....I have no clue!
----edit----
I thought the italics tags were supposed to work here???????
no, I'm not yelling, just getting gabbly. sorry if I came across that way.
Goody.....no problem.....just thought I'd pull yer chains a bit
no, jukes, pool tables, even juke remote boxes..... btdt.
np. me, looks like near-verticasl chrome above and one threaded hole above and to the right of the slots.
About 3 years ago I had to use one of those things, I think. My washer broke down and I had to go to a laundromat for a week. It was horrible.
Is it for a washing machine?
delenn13, YES! You won! It's a coin slots in a laundromat washing machine.
Full picture of laundromat washers.
Put on your riding suit & get your horsey out for some Show Jumping!!
--------------------------------------
I had to take my king size comforter to the laundromat a few weeks ago. Took some pictures to kill the time.
Thank you. Glad something good came out of that experience. It was a week before Xmas and it has snowed. So of course I slipped on the ice with the basket. But I forced HIM to go with me. So with in a week I had a new washer. :)
Nice game. Gonna take me some time to work through it cause of the arthritis. Can't count the times my fingers would freeze up in Stopple and I would click the wrong way.
